For any writers or artists out there, the Dragon Age Big Bang sign up is about to begin!  If you're not familiar, their post on it today explains the ins and outs. Basically, it's a blind date of writers writing fic and then artists get to pick a story and make art based on it. It can be fun!

Found this on a fan facebook page for Alistair and I had to share. Not sure who to give credit to it for, but hopefully it is OK to post. If not I will delete.

I've also found that even with a big screen it's hard to gauge the eye colour. For example, something that looks quite natural in the CC comes out looking really vibrant and unnatural.

This happened to me when I tried making my first male inquisitor. I thought I was getting green eyes, when really I was getting GREEN eyes.   It reminded me a little of how unnaturally bright so many of the colours were in DA2.

Agree. The eyes are hard. Esp since I find I have different success between the general eye color pic and the one where you can pick the two eye colors separately. :/  And only one of them actually zooms in on the eyes so you can see.

OK, so it's not just me. I was wondering if it was my old eyes or the monitor size. I have a decent monitor, but it's not that huge.

true. I find myself doing exactly what I did for DA2: Getting off my couch and standing a few inches from my T.V. just to make my character.

Speaking of eyebrows, I've been working on trying to replace the actual eyebrow textures themselves again.

*snip*

The eyebrows on your characters look amazing! Are you working on a mod? Plllllssss post it when it's ready  :D

I wish it would zoom in for both as well. I have had a ton of fun experimenting with the different inner and outer iris colours, though. I'm not a hundred percent sure if there are different sizes for the inner and outer rings depending on which set of eyes you pick in the zoomed out section. Has anyone else noticed one way or the other?

I agree. It's not so much the size of the screen, as the lighting in the CC. I'm looking at you, black eyeliner! *shakes fist*

On a different note, did anyone on the PS4 or X1 play the game on a larger TV (>50")? It's just that I am thinking, Cullen on a big screen = major swoon :D

Aw, thanks! They were initially meant to just be mods for my personal use, but if other people would like them, then I'd be willing to share. :D

On an unrelated note (not that we ever do that in here :P ), I may have spent a little time capturing SSs of Solas's romance yesterday...

Spoiler

Sorry for digging this out but it is odd that your hair colour changes so much. My pc also has black hair but it looks black in that scene.

Speaking of eyebrows, I've been working on trying to replace the actual eyebrow textures themselves again. My main Inquisitor's eyebrows were very sparse ones, so I'm attempting to fill those in:

Also, here are the eyebrows that I posted before, but without Morrigan's eye makeup this time:

I definitely prefer it without Morrigan's eye makeup. I actually like the options they give us for eye makeup in game. The only thing missing is a cat eye.

Have any mods been made to fix the black makeup to make it blacker, rather than greyish blue? Also, has a mod been done that actually puts the eyeliner on the lower lids, rather than under them?

Thank you! They are from here:

Post on how to use mods:

The only catch is that if any of your previous characters used the same skin texture (which all of mine did), they will now have double brows. To me, this is worth it, and I will re-create them and start fresh.

Well, I tried, but the mod manager crashes every time I click Merge. Is it the one on Nexus?

I dunno, maybe it's a bug just to honk me off because I really want black hair and dislike that shade of brown it goes to in the third pic :P . I used the black shade in the slider at the beginning that was part of the series from white hair to black. None of the others looks black to me in the CC.

Would you be willing to share your brow package with me? I'm wondering if it replaces the same texture (3rd one) as the one I'm using now. The one I have now looks great on humans, but not on elves:

Sorry, I'm not sure. I don't use the mod manager on the Nexus. I use the DA Modding Tool, which has the mod manager already in it.

I think I used the same. I wonder if different hair meshes reflect the light differently. But I agree it sucks, not that I dislike the dark brown mind you

I love how the black hair changes depending on the lighting. To me, it's more natural. My real hair can range from chromatic raven's wing black to dark brown to red depending on the lighting.

Cat eye is something I've been looking at doing, actually.

I'm working on a mod that makes the eyeliner cover the waterline, if that's what you mean.

Mine also replaces the third complexion. If you're still interested, though, I can go ahead and share mine.

It would be nice if it was optional, then, or two shades of black, one that changes a lot, one that only changes slightly. I don't want brown hair, I want black (and I'm particularly frustrated right now because I was hoping I'd be done with that problem when I left Haven, but that brown color shows up some at Skyhold too. For me, the change is way too drastic, and I'm particularly disappointed that my screenshots for a romance scene don't show the hair color I gave her. I feel as if a designer is stepping in to say "that's not really what you wanted, here, let me fix it." It wouldn't be so frustrating if I didn't also pretty much find all of the shades of blonde and brown, um, not to my taste. I really don't want to run that many red heads :P

I'm going to have to modify a couple of things after this playthrough. First, I think that complexion replaces the one I'm currently using, and I also have a modified patch file in the Updates folder for the black Skyhold pajamas. It's looking for package.mft and mine is named package_old.mft. So yeah, I need to clean up some things before I start using this.

Yes please! I'm curious to see what they would look like. The brows I have now in-game are close to mine, but still not 100%. Yours look a bit darker which is nice since mine are black irl. I wish I knew how to make my own. I'm pretty handy with photoshop - it's just how to get it into the game that I have no clue on.

The only thing that sucks is that I have to start characters over that I'm still playing since they now have vicious double-brow syndrome...
