It wouldn't be that bad if they cared for the Inq in some different way, but they're far too serious all the time and too concerned about the "greater things".

I personally got the feeling that everyone, even our companions (and among them, even Sera) view the pc as something bigger than the person and never just as a person. Kinda what Varric once said. Friendship and romance is the only proof that pc is still alive, and not some odd being like Cole who only has a purpose and nothing more.

If it weren't for romances it would've been really cold. Everyone look at you as if you're a tool. Like it's just business.

That's only me impression though.

Different interpretations, I guess. By the end of the game with my main IQ, I felt like Blackwall, Sera and Dorian were true friends of my Inquisitor, ride or die. Cassandra felt like a sister, as close to my IQ as Aveline was to my Hawke or Wynne was to my Warden. Not all of them felt like super close friends, and with good reason, but then again nor did I ever feel in DAO or DA2 like every single companion was my character's best friend. Those that did feel like my Quizzie's friends, though, felt as true and deep friendships as those of my Warden's or my Hawke's. I wouldn't even know how to tell my IQ's story without those friendships in her life.

Oh! Gotcha. Luckily Fontofnothing's eyebrows are pretty close. Not 100% but closer than anything so far. The only thing missing (for me) for makeup is a cateye, but I don't wear eye makeup myself all that often anyways.

The hair? I can deal with, so that's not such a biggie for me.

Oh man, the black cateye makeup is like my default appearance LOL!

So, in Solas' romance I've heard he asks the Inquisitor what she was like before the anchor. What replies can she give? Like, is it suggested that the anchor actually changed the protagonist's personality/outlook on life in some way?

I'm curious because I wonder if maybe the anchor is/was supposed to do more to us that just let us open and close fade rifts etc.

Possibly... But I think that's just Solas and his "can't believe that there can be some decent people around". He asks Cass similar questions so I think the anchor changes nothing, he just can't believe someone that powerful resists the temptation that power gives.

I always answer that I couldn't know since at this point I've already changed.

Who else here thinks this is how Cullen's lyrium withdraw scene should have been like?

That makes sense, especially given his past and everything. I'm so curious about where they're gonna take this whole Solas thing... I hope whatever it is they'll do it with DAI and not a future title, it just wouldn't pack the same punch without the Inquisitor dealing with it directly.

99.9% of the time my eyes are behind "sexy librarian" black frames so eye makeup largely goes un-noticed!

Same for me.  I felt like Blackwall put me on some weird pedestal, Vivienne was just trying to use me, Sera was just tagging along to figure some crap out for herself, Cass and Leliana too focused on their own stuff.  Even Varric, where I felt like Hawke was his real friend, not me. Bull was kinda a friend, gave good advice and all, but nothing like shooting guns of the top of the citadel with Garrus.  If not for Cullen, i would have felt very alone in the game.

But perhaps that is what they wanted.

Whelp, if that's what they wanted, that's what they got. I felt like I played the most distant, emotionless, soulless game ever. I felt nothing when it ended. We didn't even get an awesome end battle. Then the final scene was of me and some creepy perverted dude with big horns that I was only dating because he was, I dunno, just there.

Totally off topic, but I ran around barefoot most of my life (my foot callusses were straight awesome).  Moved to Illinois and my new friends started hounding me about hook-worms getting in my feet.  Thought it was a myth or an old-wives tale.  Started wearing shoes to get them to shut the hell up.  Look at my pink soft feet now and sigh.  The West Virginian is almost gone now...

She can say no that she hasn't changed which will result in Solas slightly disapproving. She can say that she doesn't know in a funny way which will gain slight approval from Solas, or she can be like...I don't care/is this why we are up here? I never chose that option so I don't know if you gain or lose approval.

This conversation is not exclusive to his romance, for the record, you can get it with any Inquisitor who has high enough approval with him.

His point is more that he thinks you're alright but since mere lowly mortals couldn't possibly alright then his orb must have made you a good person or something. It's kind of a douchy conversation at the time you're having it, actually, but it makes sense in retrospect.

I think eyeliner shows up / looks better when I'm wearing my glasses. I have hot pink Betsy Johnson glasses though so that probably adds a bit of pop in and of itself. I also wear more eye make-up when wearing glasses b/c I don't have to worry about bothering my contacts.

But perhaps that is what they wanted.  Having to become something bigger than we are to make the stuff happen.

I'll just name my next Inq Katniss and will be done with it.

What to give the Commander who has everything?  Ooh I know, a properly calibrated trebuchet!

My Inquisitor loves "calibrating" Cullen's " trebuchet" every night. ;)

I was emotionally battered to buggery and in an utterly foul mood when I finished my first playthrough!

Seriously, glitches everywhere, I made terrible decisions, had to pick between Alistair or Hawke which resulted in me having to change my beloved long standing DA:O canon in order to keep both alive, didn't get to learn Blackwall's dark secret, got no cookies from Sera, Cass, IB and most of the companions had eff all to say to me and my Inquisitor looked ridiculous, LOL! The only good thing about that playthrough was Cullen!

Me too, though I keep playing it because i don't know what else to do.  Like going back to the pasta salad at a picnic cause everyone keeps telling me how great it is, but I can taste is overcooked noodles and mayonnaise.  Like there must be something wrong with me cause I want the simple but delicious past salad they had at last year's picnic.  I don't want to bash the game, it had some great moments.  But...I feel you...

Weird that he disapproves of her saying that it hasn't changed her, although I suppose it will have done in some way because she's been thrown into the role of Inquisitor so to not change/grow/adapt to the situation wouldn't bode well lol.

It's not that bad to end the game alone. Being single is not some terrible heavy burden that one must romance or else, and as for the IQ being alone in the closing scene... sometimes you just need a moment to yourself. I ended one playthrough with my IQ alone, and it felt right for her to sneak out of the party to take a breather alone, away from everything. The image of her watching the sunrise strong and confident by herself was pretty powerful, too.

That's one interpretation, and a good one. But it would also have been nice to invite a close friend up to your room too, and lean on the railing of the balcony together companionably watching the sunrise. For me, that's a more satisfying way of envisioning being single and happy about it; it doesn't mean you're alone, after all. And honestly, for those who did have a romance that didn't make it that far, the ending on the balcony by yourself can come across rather sad.

Who knows. Removing the approval bars was a bad idea after all. Now we can't say was it a major story decision that makes someone think better of you or on the contrary, how you respond and treat them in th dialogues matter most... Or maybe it's both.

I don't really remember what I did but I allied with the mages and exiled the wardens. Made Cole more human though. And didn't  let him kill those pathetic scums in his personal quest. Pc wasn't in romance with him (being a human male lol) and still got that dialogue. Tis all very strange.

Oh my glasses are traditional black Chanel rectangular "sexy librarian chic." Eye makeup tends to get lost under them. Luckily I don't really need to wear liner. When I wear my contacts I will use some eye makeup since I'm so used to seeing myself with my glasses on, it feels like it makes my eyes pop more.

That's exactly how I feel! It's like going back to an item of food you used to love, but they've changed the recipe and now it leaves a funny taste in your mouth but you keep going back for more because you kinda like it but it's still not as good as the original recipe.

That being said, I hated DA2 when I first played it but it grew on me over time. I think once they release more DLC/expansions, fix the bugs and get some decent mods into the game to improve on things then I'll be more forgiving of it. I think I just need to accept that there isn't ever going to be another DA game that grabs me in the way that DA:O did (although for a brief while there I thought DAI might have cracked it). I don't think it helped that I followed the game's development so heavily, perhaps if I didn't know about all the things they'd promised to deliver that never materialised then I wouldn't be so annoyed about it.

I mean he's only available if you want to play a female human or elf, so it's locked lots of people out of his romance lol It's a bit of a bitter pill.

Oh, I see... Yes, it is a bit sad that Cullen's romance is gated. I rolled a Qunari mage for my second playthrough initially, and then restarted right after meeting Cullen for the first time at Haven. I just wasn't ready for a playthrough with no Cullen romance yet :)

Edit: Cullen for top post, along with my Aurora Trevelyan (mage)
