Aww you shouldn't feel bad about having a differing opinion, but feminism can be a pretty complicated field of study, so all I'd say is to just keep thinking about things, dissecting things, critiquing things; it doesn't really matter whether we agree or disagree with one another; it's more important to think critically about what's out there :)

And yeah I think this is a sensitive subject and should probably be avoided or go to PMs....

I don't know if this has been mentioned because I haven't been on here in a few days but I just got the cuuuutest dialog from Dorian about Cullen. It went something like..
Dorian: I notice you have a fancy towards something something handsome Templar.
Inquisitor: what?
Dorian: oh nothing, just something I find incredibly adorable about you.
I squeeed! It took me a few minutes to compose myself.

Played and romanced Cullen numerous times and no matter what I can NEVER get Dorian's to say thee above dialogue. :(

OH! I always rival-mance Fenris and it's best with an aggresive Hawke! I love it when you get the sex scene and Hawke is like "SHUTUP" and throws him against the wall.

There are no words for what that Hawke is wearing...

Wow aside from whatever she's wearing...at least fenris doesn't have a lot of work to do...I miss gideon emerys voice so much!! I know it's too distinct to be another main character but just alittle sumthin sumthin would be sooo good. I'd run around during skyrim just trying to find nameless guards who would talk to me with that VOICE!

Thanks for the input :) And I'm sorry, I usually try to avoid subjects like this, it was just nagging at me and I didn't no where else to go. But I won't talk about it anymore.

I enjoyed rivalry lot more in DA2 than in DAO personally. In DAO it wasn't really rivalry the person you had it with (=Alistair) just despised you and everything you did. In DA2 the rivalry resulted in intresting scenes and I still felt with some rivalries that there were genuine friendship or romance going on despite disagreements and I think the characters Hawke included learned from those relationships quite lot.

Yea I would actually like it if they brought back the ability to romance someone even if they really disagree with your opinions. It was available in DAI to some extent (ie. letting Cullen take lyrium) but nowhere near as in depth as DA2. Could you imagine, for example, an elf who basically had the same ideals as Sera, as far as religion and politics go, romancing Solas? Now THAT would be interesting.

Totally agree. Da2 got such a bad rap but they nailed the interpersonal mechanics. It felt so incredibly natural. Now if they can combine the facial expressions of frostbite with that deep sense of relationships, I'd lose all sense of reality!

I honestly think they have all the positive elements from all the three games to make the best DA game to date. It's just a matter of combining them in the right fashion.

I thought cullen leaves you if you make him take lyrium, no?

It seems almost like the only way you can rival someone is if you go against the very foundation of who they are in this game, like it's not just little decisions that they don't agree with. Like Sera, I'd have to support all nobels and what they do and that would counter who she is. Or solas and hate elves or dorian and supprt blood magic. There doesn't seem to be wiggle room in this one. After watching that fenris rivalry vid, he might not like you supporting mages, but he's able to see Hawke's greater purpose...

I don't know if I articulated this thought very well, hah :)

Well it depends on what you define as being a complete psycho. :P I have been called that just for siding with the Templars, but you know. Tumblr.

The option to punch Solas comes from intentionally digging into his rivalry. I had the dialogue option to start the argument that leads to it come up a few times, just from his disapproval getting low enough at points - siding with Templars/conscripting the mages and then forgiving the Wardens gives you two consecutive great disapprovals, and that's enough to make it show up. I never took that option because it's not an argument my IQ wants to have with him (it starts by accusing him of being addicted to the Fade, which is something that I feel my IQ, as a non-mage with little understanding of magic, really has no business having any opinion on), but the option was there if I wanted to explore it. I don't believe I did anything particularly psycho to earn it, though. ;) Just natural gameplay choices.

The crisis point with Dorian that leads to his punching scene, however... I've no idea on that one. I've never seen him greatly disapprove of anything I've done, really.

Huh...I want to try a playthrough to get that scene just to check it out.  I've never gotten any option to accuse of fade-addiction, even when siding with Templars (but I don't remember my other choices...). I think this is the problem..I always have failry balanced approval with everyone, so no one seems to hate or love me, which is rather boring,.  I need to be BOLD!!! (ie, but not a pyscho) :P

I don't! I try to avoid it at all costs! My little heart can't take it :P  I did try to rival him, but after he snapped at me for giving him his sword, I was just like NOPE!! and went back to an old, old save to re-friendmance him. I just can't take him being all bitter and angry. No, my Hawke likes to open him up slowly, like a flower, softly stroking his prickly petals until he starts to... oh this sort of got away from me.

LOL Do we need to give you a moment alone...? ;)

:P ;)

I was going to say, yes, that might be getting away from you, but it was going someplace lovely.

It's been said before but to reiterate, Cullen doesn't leave if you pick one of the "nicer" options if you make him start taking Lyrium again. Something along the lines of, "its temporary, we'll find a better way" etc. Of course, if you're a douche about it, he'll break it off.

I do like that you can't see the approval-disapproval scale, even though I loved gaming that system. It reminds me of real life where you don't have that convienent bar telling you about your relations with certain individuals are. Just my 2c.

I think you can initially tell him to take it and then he'll prompt you again and if you continue to tell him to take it he'll break it off. Not positive though because I could never actually bring myself to tell him to take lyrium. But yea I agree. I really think they should bring that back for the future. It adds a whole new dynamic to the relationship. Not only that, but you're almost getting double the relationships with that option because the romance scenes generally play out different. I'd also be okay with only having some people available for a rivalmance because others' (like Solas) beliefs are what allow them to romance someone.

Agreed. But I wish the advisors had visible in conversation approval/disapproval ratings.

Try going Templars/Wardens/making Cole human for his three big Great Disapprovals, that should sink you low enough to get the option to appear.

You can recover all his approval back later by asking him ALL the questions (so save them for later in your playthrough rather than burning through everything at Haven), and bringing him along to activate the elven artifacts. I also tend to save all those "help the villagers" ,fetch quests that Corporal Vale gives you in the Hinterlands for later -to help me recover from the Great Disapproval I get from Cole for allying with the Wardens- and Solas also approves of those, so you can save them to recover your approval with him too after your Punching Experiment. (for science!)

Ok, I think I'm done with CC for the day...I've seen this poor guy die about 20x today:

I had to restart a few of my characters because of the new brows but it's totally worth it. I rebuilt Rhiannon, my "what if Snow White turned into a warrior woman" sword n board Templar-in-Training.

Off topic, but has anyone else been reading the "Stormhearted" fanfic in the "Archive of our Own" link?  It is really good (I love the fics that really dig into the magic stuff...like how it feels/works, etc).  I don't know if it is one of you writing under a different name, but if it is...I am DYING to know what happens next!!!!  Makes me want to play a mage with all the electricity tree spells!!!! :) :) :)

Wait.. More frowny Cullen? Yes! I'd go for that, they made him so very expressive. Plus.. I think he needs more hugs...

Cullen will not end the relationship if you tell him that you'll find another way later. I'm going to use this with my templar run.

Yes, my oldest graduates this year. I still feel no shame about having these fantasies reading these wonderful posts about Cullen. :P

HAHA....yeah I can agree with this one totally. Being a single Mom for most of my life, I find I like games with very Noble men in them (total opposite of my ex). I have no shame gushing over Alistair and Cullen, at least they never let me down and always stay on the pedestal they seem to get pushed up on whether they want to or not ;)
