Back on page 45 someone asked about the companions being leaders thing. It was tweeted yesterday from pax by a fellow bsn'er.
Your 9 followers will be leader-types, much like all DA2 followers were outcasts. #DragonAge #Inquisition #Bioware #paxeast
And I do think it was briefly mentioned in the video that's been posted.
Put me in the Cullen is my companion camp!
Thank you! Some more evidence that I'm not crazy!
What?
It's the weekend, he's probably spending time with his family or working.
Or playing golf. He seems to play a lot of golf. ![]()
For Cullen as a Li but not a companion, I believe we have a home base, and it would be interesting to have someone to go home to, as it were.
Just not sure it's quite the same as having a LI interest that fight's by your side. Is among the reasons I've never romanced the NPC in ME2.
They way I'm thinking, Cullen (or any advisor, really) will be completely necessary to your game. You cannot get rid of them. You cannot avoid them. You cannot kill them, at least, not right away. Meaning that he's practically as important as your companions. You'll have to speak with him to continue the game, report back to him, that sort of thing. Of course, you can be a great big... meanie to him, if you wish, but you can't make him leave (probably until late-game).
This means he'd have to have just as much content as a follower. As for follower chats? Well, you've got a base. They'll all be living there. Let's pull another page out of Mass Effect's book and have wandering companions. They'll visit one another and chat, and perhaps you'll even jump in.
They could make an NPC romance work very well, I think.
This is all just guesswork, of course, but I'm looking at what's been done by the same company, and this seems like a good scenario. Especially since he's one of the first announced LI's! He'd better be up to snuff, ya?
Yay, new faces! Welcome, fellow Cullenites!
I hope you'll all stay de-lurked and join in the fun. (Ideally without resorting to blood magic, the templars do frown on it, you know!
)
Hmmm...
I've wondered this myself. Cole is a hard sell, especially since people forget him after he's gone. (Right? Did I get that right? Again, no read books, did I.) Maybe the opening of the Veil has altered him in a way, so that he can be seen.
Yeah, I really think Cole is out. A lot of the distinguishing stuff about him in print couldn't really be done with game mechanics, so it would have to be dropped or handwaved, at which point why use the character at all? And the epilogue... let's just say it limited the directions his story could go in and made it hard for me to see how he'd fit into a party or (other than meta-game knowledge) why the Inquisitor would want to bring him along?
I think Cole as companion was probably an idea that seemed good on paper early in development but was scrapped in the meantime, especially since there's been no sign of him any time recently, unlike any of the other possibilities.
If he loves someone, I think Cullen wouldn't give two sh!ts about race.
Yeah, I really don't either. I think that he'd have more of an issue being with a mage. But I also think he could overcome that.
What he said to Oghren... I really don't think it's worth holding against Cullen. Oghren was being rather insensitive, Cullen was in pain and far from at his best, and even Oghren himself didn't seem to take it amiss. The fact Cullen got upset at a dwarf one time doesn't mean he hates all dwarves or anything.
(And as I've commented before, Oghren is admittedly a cave-dwelling heathen!
)
It's funny, companion, NPC, 3/3/3, 3/2/3/5/42, warrior, rogue, leader, follower, I realize... I really don't care.
He's a romance. So he's in. And he's important.
Same. I just honestly cannot get sad or upset about any Cullen-status-related speculation or news right now because we get our Cullen, and we'll spend time with him, and our Inquisitor can love him, and he's important! ![]()
LMAO LIKE
I've been waiting to use that gif for daaaayyysss. Snorted the first time I saw it.
That GIF... Oh my god, I'm dying. XDOh. My. God. Gameception.....BIOWARECEPTION....

My only concern with this is that in previous games, NPC relations have not been fleshed out well. I would hate for Bioware to throw in something that is very hard to achieve as a true romantic experience is difficult to make satisfying when there is so much work that goes into building such a relationship. It can't be "Oh, here you are. You're hot; I'm hot. Let's make babies" sort of deal.

But do you think we have to choose between our advisors? If we want to go balls to the walls, we choose "red fist", if we want to be sneaky we choose "purple crows" and if we want to be political we choose "Golden Keys" (I don't remember that name, i just made that up) or can we use them all?
Unlikely they would change his class. It would be like making Oghren or Iron Bull a rogue - ridiculous.
Meaning that either GW is not a companion, or Cullen is not a companion.
I hope for the latter
It's hardly the same thing.
Oghren is an established character. The Iron Bull had many pieces of official art dedicated to him with his name depicting him having this giant two-handed sword. The Grey Warden does not have a name, nor has he been officially announced in any capacity. He might as well not exist at this point. If the Devs wanted to make him a rogue, then they could.
(Actually, if the Devs wanted to make any of their characters rogues, it's not like we could stop them. Heck, maybe Cullen's a rogue. Mmmm, Cullen with a bow.)
Again, I don't think it's likely, but it's hardly an impossibility.

CullenCompanionCamp
For those sick crazy bastards hopeless optimists (=moi aussi) that still believe he'll be a companion.
I hope he sees my tweet about us moving....
He probably will. He seems very intrigued with the excitement that comes with his character/threads. ![]()

I think we get something like a committee. Just because they're an adviser doesn't mean we have to take their advice.

I don't know. The entire idea of advisors is based off a leak which may or may not be accurate, so all this debate could be useless!
I'd bet that all the advisors are available to you, but I have no real idea.

Cullen: "Inquisitor, I believe we should send troops to..."
Inquisitor: "Damnit Cullen! Take off your shirt or GTFO!"
Cullen: "......"

My guess is they will all present advice when certain situations come up, and then the Inquisitor chooses which plan is best.
They may become mutually exclusive later in the game, but I would think that at least early on they would all be available to provide plans and suggestions for scenarios.
For those who have played Guild Wars 2, I'm picturing it a lot like the Orders of Tyria section in the personal storyline.
