Yeah, you know, my protemplar Hawke was unrecognizable in a different way, for me. I felt like she'd spent too much time with Meredith. Every other subclause, "blood magic." "I don't know what we're doing here in the Fade, but it must be blood magic. Did you look around for blood mages? I've seen a lot of blood mages in my time. Oh, can you pass the salt? I used to pass the salt back in Kirkwall where there were blood mages."
Really? Huh. She mentions blood magic a lot?
Yeah, same. Alistair was my friend. We both just happened to be Wardens, the last Wardens at that. And he didn't want to be the leader, so I resignedly stepped up. Morrigan became my friend. Wynne became my surrogate mother. Zevran was my lover. These were my family!
I get NONE of that from DAI. I felt close to no one. But perhaps that is what they were going for. Many times they emphasized how much choice the player would be given and how the player character was the head of the inquisition and an important person who would be making key decisions.
I had a vague sense that I wouldn't like the inquisitor and was kind of right; Hawke just spoiled me. Shepard, too. Even the Warden to some extent. Their stories were so contained, so personal.
I agree that as the Inquisitor, it is more difficult to make friends. However, I would consider Dorian and Cassandra close friends for my Quizzy. Cullen, being the love interest, is another example, but you cannot take him along for the ride, unfortunately. I did not get that feeling from any other follower, though. Varric is Hawke's friend, first and foremost. I adored him to bits in DA 2, and took him everywhere. In DA:I, he's been left on the benches for the greater part of the game, however.
DISAGREE
Hawke x Fenris dialogue is perfect

Fenris was good - he's my favourite romance for DA 2, actually. But, Anders was painful for me... and not because of the whole going mad and blowing up the Chantry thing ![]()

omg! yeah, it was really kinda funny. It's too bad they didn't let us have a few more shades of grey in the Keep regarding choosing Meredith's side. My Hawke tap danced her way into a "the least people get hurt this way" solution, but the Keep thinks she was a mage killer.
Blood mages, man... ![]()
I still find it hilarious how Hawke can be a blood mage in DA2 considering where they took Hawke's opinions no matter what choices were made in the Keep.

I felt the same way. I loved all my companions in DA:O, some for very different reason but I felt like we're a family. Maybe it's all the sleeping together under the stars.
Inquisition didn't give me the same feeling. The Inquisitor is the boss and didn't seem to blend as well to me. Maybe it's her/him being seen as the Herald and that could be the feeling they were going for too. That being said I still very much enjoyed the companions (and the game). It was a different type of experience.
I'm genuinely curious... Am I the only one here that, for some reason, never made a connection with any of the DA2 companions? I didn't have a favorite DA2 companion, much less a favorite DA2 LI. They were all just kind of... there. In DAI, I actually have favorites again, like I did in DAO. Companions that I enjoy having around and spending time with.
Also, I'm kind of down in the dumps today. Does anyone have any happy/positive Cullen art/stories/comments/etc to share or recommend?
I don't think so. I think there were a lot of folks that felt the same way about DA2. Not me, but normally I'm in the minority.
And some Culleny happiness, comin' right up!

No, you aren't alone. I was pretty indifferent to all the companions in DA2 and it wasn't until DA: I that I felt that connection again from DA: O. The interactions were much more fluid in DA: I, IMO, unlike in DA2 when you could only talk to them a couple times each Act (and only when there's a companion quest in your Journal which took out a lot of immersion for me).
And I'm sorry you're feeling down. I have a couple Cullen fan videos I made if you're interested. I'm pretty much an amateur at making fan videos (it wasn't until DA: I that I felt the urge to make them), but I enjoyed putting them together and I hope others can enjoy them as well.

Cullen you dirty bastard! If you've so much experience of flirting & dating with hawke already, don't be such an adorkable in DA:I!!!
(I'm still stucked in my Love/Hate relationship with him...)

I could take or leave all the DA2 companions. Their interactions and the time frame was too widespread for me to connect. I mean it took 3 years for a flirt to turn into a romance for a start.
I like nearly all in DAI bar Sera and Vivienne but they still seem a little distant.
now DAO I felt really connected to the companions. I actually felt like friendships/enemies were developing, I could actually see it happening. With DAI there is a lot of imagining to be done and in DA2 I just couldn't care.
For all of his shortcomings, Hawke has a lot of charisma.

That could be the opening line for Hawke's life story. ![]()

i liked the companions in DA2 a lot. My problem with them were the time gaps. I felt out of step with what was going on.
LOL I did that at first, got her to skyhold and I had no way of telling Cullen I was glad he made it out alive, so she got deleted. My second one made it a little farther. Started a romance with Bull and I felt really guilty, Cullen was all forlorn and missing some loving so I deleted her and made someone just for him. My elves for Solas and Blackwall really didn't make it past the first flirt with him, they had to have him. I am currently trying a dwarf for Blackwall, it's slow cause I have to keep going back to Cullen. My willpower fails me
I use simultaneous PTs and jump back and forth between them. I have a Dalish warrior romancing Solas, a Dalish mage romancing Cullen, and a dwarven rogue I haven't made a decision with. I may go ahead and try the Blackwall romance and see if it feels less abrupt and incomplete if played straight through. Honestly, as much as I like Cullen, the flirts are awkward at first; Blackwall's flirts are more tempting to me. Besides, I love my dwarves too much to pass up playing one just because I can't romance Cullen.

See this was my original plan, simultaneous pt's. I ended up having 2 or 3 different characters at different stages, different romances just sat for ages not doing anything with them because I needed to go back to a Cullen romance (I am weak). Then what happened is I'd leave them for too long and just delete them mainly because I'd lose track of what I was doing with any given character and eh just wanted to start over lol (fickle). So I figured qunari or dwarf had to be easier...it is but I still need to load up a Cullen save sometimes to get me through lol.

I'm on the fence about trying Blackwall's romance. On the one hand, he's a sexy burly lumberjack, on the other, from what I've seen of his romance on YouTube, it seems like 90% of the time he's pushing the Quizzy away. That would get annoying and make me wonder why she would even pursue it. It's not his big reveal that would bother me XD

It's actually not that bad, I have got to his big surprise and his romance is actually quite enjoyable. His pushing the quizzy away isn't too much and its actually quite sweet. he is def a second fav of my next to Cullen so far.

See, for me, it's what makes it more real. The fact that he's all uneasy about it. Blackwall's was just abrupt IMO. Reminds me of the flirt options with Anders.

Well then, I should give it a try then! That's good to know.

I actually find his adorkableness so endearing. Especially now with Cullen the quizzy is also an adorkable one...
Thank you
. If I make another Lavellan, I may test it again. I imagine there are a few ways to headcanon it so it feels less like a bug
I have a Lavellan I just started and I shall be testing this. ![]()
Well she, like Tuvok, was married, and I think even after seven years the thought of being with another person was hard.
Was she actually married, or just engaged?
