You can also recruit him if you have the history or the underworld knowledge perk. Or Cass with you.

Obviously I am speaking for myself... this is literally something we have discussed here before.  I'm confused by all the hostility.

I intend no hostility in the tone of my posts.  I just respectfully disagree with your assessment of Cullen, is all

 

In fact, I used to not really care one way or another for Cullen until DA: I.  I just thought he was kind of derpy as a templar in DA2, actually, for being so oblivious to mage!Hawke and when Hawke can try to warn him about Anders.

I also think they wrapped up his issues a little too tidily, almost like they were trying to sanitize him against the haters. I don't think he's boring now, but I am sorta surprised at how they glossed over a lot of his imperfections.

Oh okay, it's just Lola and Elu both snapping at me took me be surprise Just yesterday R2 said the same thing, about how Cullen in DAI has magically gotten over all his problems in DAI and how that was disappointing. Yet no one snapped at her. So I feel a little attacked.

I thought this, there were so many instances where he practically mirrored and address the hate he was getting from here. I thought they are trying too hard to appease the haters.

Yeah... Maybe BW think that since Cullen needs to cater everyone now (he can't be replaced & has major roles & everyone will have some good quantity of interacting with him) they just smooth away the rough edges.

 

Too bad, it's roughness in him that makes the character even more appealing.

 

That said, I'm still happy on how he turned out. Guess that I'm not hard to please to begin with

I wasn't around back then, but I certainly have been a fan since DA:O. How nice to see I wasn't alone!

 

Anyways, I still can't see how anybody could hate him...I guess that's something I'll never understand...

When you use the history knowledge perk, you tell him something like "Orlesian horsemasters are better" and he gets offended! I don't know what Dorian tells him though.

I wasn't snapping, I was just saying that it's a good thing that you find him boring because it makes it easier to get over the lack of bisexuality for his romance.
