I love this story idea... but honestly, I doubt they'd "reset" the whole Universe. Seeing how pissed folks have been about losing "their" characters and LIs over the past few games, that would be supremely risky. Plus, would you start the next story back at the beginning of time, or in the new "present" and have all the characters meet each other again, as different people with different lives?

Part of why I love this idea is that... I could see him doing it, even tho it seems like the utterly wrong thing to do. And, I could see why he would do it. And I don't think it makes him a black hat wearing villain. I also don't think the storytellers would ultimately let him go through with it. And so we'd still "save the world."

Oh yeah, there's no way in hell they'd do a "reset". Now, Solas may try to reset the world, but it'd obviously be stopped.

...and our Solasmancers could sentence him to an eternity of atonement... in our beds...  :bandit:

...I support this...

What if we go North then?

It'd have to be further past Par Vollen and Seheron then, which is entirely unknown to us at this point. They could theoretically do it, but I think it's unlikely.

It's gonna be sad, especially for Solasmancers if this really is his plan that we can't talk him out of or come to any sort of compromise.

He seems dead set at this point. Which is a shame, but it cannot be helped. "Good" intentions he might have, but I don't believe the ends would ever justify the means in this particular situation.

Naw, I could write it so that there's still wiggle room for a semi happy ending. :cracks knuckles: It could still work, and still be satisfying. That's why I love that it's such a grey issue. There's room to not hate him for it. <3

Agreed, nor do I think he should back down or be talked around. He's dedicated himself to accomplishing this goal, it's admirable even if it's potentially unwise.

This is going to be another Mordin moment...isn't it? GAH it will be worse since a lot of us has romanced Solas and like his character...I am...sullen at the moment.

You guys really don't think Bioware will have the IQ and Solas interact with each other before the next game? I think it will happen 100%, Bioware will certainly have a meeting come up in a DLC...I BELIEVE, lol!

I certainly hope so.  It happened with Morrigan, and she actually told the Warden she'd be leaving and will never see him/her again.

What's funny is that talking about this reminds me of the Abelas scene where he is killed by Morrigan. Driven until the very end.

Time paradoxes make me think too hard. So he tells the IQ (even unromanced) "whatever happens, yada yada." If he were to erase the present, then the IQ presumably wouldn't even end up the IQ (or possibly even alive), so why even say that to him/her?

Presumably because he thinks he'll remember and he ended up valuing the friendship or love of the Inquisitor. He or she became "real" to Solas, as Cole would say.

I'd like the option to side with him, and/or have a romanced Inquisitor somehow be able to stay with him if he does reset everything, but for my canon playthrough I wouldn't allow him to do it, not if it meant all my protagonists lost not only their LI's but also their friends, existence etc.

... That being said, his idea might actually be better for the greater good... even if it means everyone else ceasing to be? Hm... I guess I'll wait and see how many of my favourites DG forcibly kills off first, LOL!

It's not over until we hear the Dread Wolf howl...and I don't believe we have heard him howling...so I think we are in the clear, at least when it comes to the IQ and Solas meeting each other once again.

If it cancelled out the blights, that'd be pretty good for Thedas over all. It would erase all our heroes and history though and that would be truly tragic  :crying:  It's one of those "what ifs" that would be cool to see, in any case.

I think that we can quite hope to get a DLC/Expansion with Solas theme. I mean, they won't put his post-credit ending cutscene if they don't want to make any DLC with him inside...

If DG kills off all my protagonists and/or LIs/favourites I'd probably side with Solas and let him reset everything... if they don't exist then they can't be born to die, lol.

What a tough decision. Cancel the blights...or cancel the existence of all?

It's definitely not the last we've seen of him, that's for sure.

I'd rather keep the world we have then recreate one that was never meant to be.

Yes, but saying this makes no sense to the IQ...because he/she wouldn't remember if the present is re-written...he/she may not even be alive.

I don't think there'll really be an option for one or the other. It'd be way too diverging.

I'm not too familiar with the timeline, but didn't the blights come before the end of the ancient elves? I could certainly be wrong.

Wouldn't it be heartbreaking if even after Solas resets things everyone was all still born but with vastly different lives and at the end we'd get to see all the past characters in a massive cutscene going about whatever their alternative lives turned out like, and like maybe the Inquisitor/protagonist and his/her love interest from whichever game happen to walk past each other, they stop and look at each other as if they feel like they've met and then just continue on walking...

... Did I just describe the ending to Butterfly Effect?
