I'm not too familiar with the timeline, but didn't the blights come before the end of the ancient elves? I could certainly be wrong.
No, the Blights came way later, long after Arlathan was sunk.

I'd rather keep the world we have then recreate one that was never meant to be.
The way I see it, Solas' people clearly ballsed up enough during their time for Solas/whoever to lock them away/put a stop to them. They're time has past, the current generation needs to live on and thrive until they f*ck up and the next lot take over. Circle of life 'n' all that!
Y'know, the ancient Elves kinda remind me of the Protheans from Mass Effect in that respect.
Yes, but saying this makes no sense to the IQ...because he/she wouldn't remember if the present is re-written...he/she may not even be alive.
What if he's saying it for his own benefit? Maybe it's his way of saying goodbye. It could make the IQ feel better in that moment, or worry less about his obvious distress, which would be the important thing.
Yes, that makes a lot of sense. But didn't Dorian and Alexius say that time travel magic wouldn't work until the explosion, and that Alexius couldn't go back before that moment (because Corypheus was demanding he undo your intrusion into his ritual?)

Is there an official timeline anywhere? I always have such a hard time following it in-game.
I don't think there'll really be an option for one or the other. It'd be way too diverging.
Not if one or two of them served as a game over... kinda like in ME2 where Shepard can die, but you can't actually import that playthrough into ME3.

THIS!
Didn't Abelas confirm that the ancient elves sunk themselves?

Something like that, although you can keep Alexius alive to continue researching it... or I'm sure Dorian would also carry on tinkering around with it.

Now that I think of it, I think he did say something to that effect...
THIS!

Yeah, there was in-fighting and all sorts.

No, the ancient elves basically did a massive civil war that crippled the empire.
Abelas was just saying that by the time that Tevinter sunk Arlathan, the elves were already pretty much destroyed.

Actually, not true. Because the Still Ruins were actually studying something similar, only they got frozen in time around the Second Blight.

eeeeverything you ever wanted to know... and lots you didn't...

Yeah, I think the time travel thing is enough of a mcguffin that they can do whatever they want for the story.
Awesome! But then again, ever since I found out about Solas I've been hoping he'd wind up being the next Big Bad. Heh. Big Bad Wolf.
Bad Wolf. omg.
All this time traveling, morally ambiguous, lost-all-the-people-from-my-highly-advanced-civilization stranger talk is giving me serious Doctor Who vibes.
I love it.

Doesn't seem so cheesy with this theory, lol.
Ehamloptiran removed Gaspard's mask and put Cullen's hair on him!

Ehamloptiran removed Gaspard's mask and put Cullen's hair on him!
So that's what he looks like! Did they ever describe what his hair was like in the Masked Empire novel?
So, if there are only a couple more old gods left to become archdemons, what does everyone think would happen if the wardens managed to kill them? Then what? Would that eradicate the blight? Would it just keep spreading via red lyrium, or something?

I kind of always imagined him bald. Not that I've read the book yet ...

Hard to say, maybe they'd start corrupting normal Dragons? Or like Zombies they'd gradually sorta die out?
Doesn't seem so cheesy with this theory, lol.
Yeah. Esp if they do something interesting with the "reset" idea, more than us playing Back to the Future Part 18 and worrying about stepping on butterflies and kissing our moms.

I don't remember any description.

He is balding.
There's a mod if you want to remove his mask. http://www.nexusmods...tion/mods/199/?

I always imagine him with a greyish hair, short but not bald, well trim mustache.
