A question for anyone who might know about how the Voice Acting happens in DA games: I heard that Greg Ellis doesn't even know who Cullen is while voicing him, he just get random lines not in order. Is this true?
How can he put so much appropriate emotion if he doesn't even know who the character is?
Just wondering...
It was true in the earlier games, as Greg Ellis voiced a lot of characters for Origins and even the writers barely knew who this character we were all gushing about was for the longest time. I think he became aware of the Cullenites and our love for the character after DA2, so he probably knows who the character is now... even if he's admitted he can't remember the voice he uses half the time, since for Cullen he doesn't use his natural speaking voice.
CHEAP!!?!?!???!!?!!?!??!?!?
THEM'S FIGHTING WORDS!!!!
Don't get me wrong, I liked it after I stopped and thought about it, but it still seemed like like a cop-out ending in some ways to tie it to the first game. I mean, Elizabeth had a lot more options that could have saved her life, especially since her entire plan hinged on her trusting that a man who'd beat her to death with a pipe, would actually honour his word and let Sally go afterwards.
And you're right, even talking to Cullen after meeting Flemythal and mentioning "I met a God, or someone who claimed to be one" doesn't cause him to become offended, as he respects your beliefs, even if they are not necessarily your own. The most he says is how he doesn't let such things cause him to doubt his own faith in the Maker, which is actually fairly tolerant for Cullen to admit as a devout Andrastian.
This was one of my favorite moments of Cullen's, for such a small line it is. His faith has always been so important to his character, and to have him be so respectful of any Inquisitor's beliefs (or lack thereof) while knowing they doesn't shake his own was incredibly reassuring. He may've lost faith in the institution, but not the core of his beliefs. "The center never changed."

I missed this moment in my first playthrough and yeah, that conversation was part of what made me kinda wished my Lavellan had romanced him, especially after having just gone through the Solas break up scene.

There are probably some guidelines. Like "with passion", "flirty" , "angry" "upset". Besides the VA might not know the character but if there is a big chunk of text, like on Cullens lyrium scene, one can still deduce the meaning and the intend.

It's true, but that's what voice directors are for! Fortunately they have the budget to hire experienced talent, as well. It's the voice director's job to make sure the actors know who their characters are and that they understand the context of each scene, so it makes it a little easier, even if they aren't recorded in sequence. It's a super important job in a game with a cast as large as this one. Also, it's possible for actors that record later on to hear recordings that immediately precede their lines so that they have something to respond to. The director for DA is Caroline Livingstone, if I'm not mistaken.
Lol! I love you all! Can I purchase a whole album or do I have to buy every song individually?
Usually when you're buying there's the album picture at the left, under that there's the "buy the whole album" option. You'll see the price directly.

David Gaider wrote a short post on part of the VO work on their end. http://dgaider.tumbl...2/on-voice-over

Ah OK, it's very interesting to see how this kind of stuffs work.
Thanks everyone!

Are you talking about using iTunes on your PC or iPhone? I use it on my PC to play music, but I buy all my music on Google Music. Based on the research I've done, Google has the highest bitrate available (320kbps) out of the "three biggies" - Google, Amazon, iTunes.
And I know for a fact that you can buy whole albums or single songs.
Wouldn't it be heartbreaking if even after Solas resets things everyone was all still born but with vastly different lives and at the end we'd get to see all the past characters in a massive cutscene going about whatever their alternative lives turned out like, and like maybe the Inquisitor/protagonist and his/her love interest from whichever game happen to walk past each other, they stop and look at each other as if they feel like they've met and then just continue on walking...
... Did I just describe the ending to Butterfly Effect?

You know, I totally think this is what's going to happen now.
Mr. Gaider hinted at a "kill everyone" ending and probably this is it.
I think he's all about killing every character off who isn't his pet. And he even killed off a pet in DAI, though half-heartedly because you could still save her if you chose the Mages. Honestly, when DA started they were all about the G.R.R. Martin parallels.
I always hated that, since I really hate GoT because of this very premise. I only got into DA because I really loved the Baldur's Gate games.
Oh well, at least I'll have my life back with no Dragon Age in it...
I am doing it on my PC. I couldn't figure it out so i just went and ordered it from the CD store, lol. Thanks guys. ![]()
Apologies for changing the subject, but I couldn't help myself

Ever read a manga called Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles? There is a similar situation with this, and in that manga it's said that in alternate universe people keep their essence and their links to each other, so Inky + LI will still meet each other & fall for each other if it's their "destined" person. It's just that their fate & life won't be the same.
Well, very "Destiny" type of story I must say but it's less sad ![]()

Zarro, found another great Taylor Davis song for you. I had no idea it was her til I saw the video, but I've always loved the song since I heard it in-game. Lord of the Rings Online has a very strong soundtrack for it's "end-game" areas and she collaborated with Chance Thomas for the theme for Rohan...it is...beautiful:

Although it Dragon Age was really Tsubasa, it would be more like Quizzie would fall in love with Cullen, but then find that her Cullen is a clone of the real Cullen, then real Cullen would die and Quizzie would find out that she was a clone of the real Quizzie too, then clone Cullen would kill clone Quizzie, then both clones would be magically brought back to life and clone Cullen would father real Cullen with clone Quizzie, then real Cullen would find real Quizzie who shares the soul of clone Quizzie and end up dating his own pseudo-grandmother who shares a soul with his mother while he also shares a soul with his clone who is both his father and his son at the same time, and basically ew and also what.
I actually think it would be really cool if something like this happened. And then it wouldn't matter if people were killed off because they'd potentially still be alive in an alternate universe. It would make a really tragic ending more bearable anyway
Sounds a bit like Fringe.

I watched the last Hobbit movie and this is bringing back that last scene to me. She is really talented...imagine if she and Lindsey every did a collab with one another...THAT WOULD BE EPIC!
I've never felt so much whiplash between screaming of horror and ecstatic laughing. I never got to see this when the art book leaked before game release I am late.

A question, does anyone have the exact quote of Cole's line about Cullen? Something that starts like
"The little bottles shake him, but he tests the chains"

Bwahahahahahahahah so true!
Nah if it's the case I'll start drawing the relationship tree like I did for Tsubasa ![]()
