Well f**k just got the first romance scene with him and ended up laughing so much I had to reload it and damnit it was pretty cute. I wasn't really expecting that.

He could be a Fade Expert, Fen'Harel, and Shartan...well my Lavellan got screwed, literally.

 

Didn't we meet Shartan in DA:O at the Temple of Sacred Ashes? One would think that would throw this Shartan theory out.

 

This is what you should do whenever you know you are going to die. Quickly switch back to your rouge and run from the fight, but do not leave the area. Stop right at the point where the dragon's health bar first popped up, your dead companions should then be dragged to your rouge and you can revive them if the game does not do it. I also suggest playing as an archer for most of the battle since you can deal a lot of damage and go poof...there is also a little blockade that you can stand behind and the dragon's gust can't pull you away from there; so you can keep firing with your mages/archers.

The Shartan at the Temple of Sacred Ashes has a bald head and a sharp face. It struck me in late summer when I was playing through DAO and got to that part of the gauntlet.

 

Thanks! I really think my weakness is that I was doing so little damage, but I admit I haven't spent much time setting their tactics either. Obviously I need to look at them a bit more closely. I think I may try again with Blackwall or Cass swapped out for Dorian - Solas has most of my ice and barrier magic. If I have two warriors tanking the dragon and keeping her occupied and try controlling Sera instead (I like archer-rogue in this much more than I did in DAO), maybe it'll go better. If that doesn't work, I may try the Viv, Cass, IB combination, but I hesitate because I haven't touched Viv's KE spells or IB's two-handed weapon tree, and I think maybe the learning curve on a dragon might be a little steep

Yes, it's pretty funny to watch. Even funnier is when  you realize how far along the wall the guy had to track Cullen down, but still somehow missed Cullen's hands on the IQ's hips or how close they were standing.

Yeah, I found Maferath's and Shartan's images on Wiki...the guy in my screenshot is definitely not Maferath.

 

That dragon takes a pretty hard beating so I know what you mean about damage not really effecting it. Are you striking opposite legs? As in the two back legs or the two front legs? I never used Blackwall or Vivi in that fight, but I have used Iron Bull and he is hard to keep alive. If you make sure he is constantly keeping the dragon's hate and is building guard with a barrier protecting him as well, then he can do quite a bit of damage. You can also span Whirlwind if you personally control him, the AI only makes him spin around twice when you can really spin around quite a few times. It's all about trial and error, in fact that dragon still makes me rage a bit every PT since she is so OP in the early levels.

To be honest, first time when I saw that, I thought Cullen was gonna jump back and pretend he wasn't doing anything. But the way it is just....so much better.

Hmm...he doesn't really look too much like Solas. I think the painting had Shartan depicted with jawline more like the type Solas has.

I think it's partly the angle of the Solas picture. I see a lot of resemblance in their bone structures. Unfortunately, I don't think I have a good picture of Solas from the same perspective as the Shartan picture.

 

Edited: OK, I have two shots with a somewhat similar angle. The second is blown up from one SS where he was in the background. I think he has a sharper chin, like the tapestry Shartan. On the other hand, I'd be surprised if they made the resemblance too obvious if that's what they have in mind.

Just wanted to say. Cullin hugs are the best. As the only romance-hug I have seen so far.

Barely anywhere in the romance at the moment (sore thumbs and lack of sleep kick in as soon as I actually get it to start) but my desire to write a little about him and my mage Maura have only grown in fact I'm quite excited to start it something I haven't been for writing in a while. Oddly enough I think I'm most looking forward to having my elf warrior kind of just reminding the two kids to spend time together and stop acting like shy teens on a first date. (I've got a weird headcanon about my elf involving her being married before and just have to make her a side character she demands it.) Never actually written a relationship before in a writing done solely by myself so this should be both frustrating and exciting.

No real shame. But when I pick the boyfriend up and I tell him about my little Cullen meetings, it's...weird. And I go on like he actually exists. I was a daydreamer even as a kid; I had and still have a lot of imagination.

It was the real Blackwall, because Rainier only took on Blackwall's identity in 9:37, whereas that letter was from 9:30.

Paintings and statues supported by the Chantry do have that, they're idealized images that likely don't correspond to reality at all. Andraste and Maferath were barbarians from a backwater Alamarri tribe, that whole angelic blonde with perfect hair and shining armor image of Andraste that's everywhere around the game is probably about as true as our real world blonde blue-eyed Jesus portraits. So whoever the bald guy near her is, he's probably being idealized too - and since portrayals of Shartan are verboten in the Chantry, I'd wager on it being Havard or Maferath, only in their sanitized Chant version where they look like high lords in fancy robes, rather than the dirty ragged warriors they were.

No worries! I just wanted to let you know. If we include a link then it's more likely someone will actually click through to the artist's page, possibly comment, like, or reblog, possibly see her other stuff, possibly become another acolyte to her awesome talent. Page 5000 Update
 

So as a reminder, Page 5000 is approaching. We're doing about 18 pages a day, so we'll hit 5000 in about 2.5 weeks.

 
THE THEME

The theme that has emerged is "Thanks for the memories!"  What does this mean? Whatever you want it to, so long as it's Culleny. Get inspired by memories, nostalgia, thanks for game, thoughts on the end of the game, thoughts on what happens after the game, favorite memory from the game, favorite memory from being a Cullen fan, looking back, looking forward, whatever. 

 

WHAT TO CONTRIBUTE
Describe your fave memory from in game, or post a screenshot of it. Write a poem inspired by memories. Make a drink recipe that induces a black out of memories. Art, photomanip, fanfic, screenshot, text, banter, dialogue, drink recipe, limerick, fic, whatever. Go for it. All is good, so long as it's Culleny. Ask if you need suggestions for places to post fic or art, etc.
