Alright, and here is yet another version of Perseverance, with some different dialogue, costarring my current QunQuisitor.

He doesn't look super old, just maybe 40-something? It goes with the art in his tarot card, where he looks older and more battle-worn than he ended up looking in-game, too.

 

You know, I can't help but think that whoever designed Iron Bull and whoever okayed it has never seen a longhorn. This is literally the first image that pops into mind whenever I see IB. *sigh*

I do wuv the Cullen we got tho.

 

For me, as another 30-something, that 45-something concept art is fiiiiiiiiiine-looking indeed. It's actually kinda hotter to me than final game Cullen. Game Cullen is of course very sweet and cute on his own too, but I do love these fanarts that make him a little more weathered, give him a beard and a little more age to his face.

 

Either way, my IQ sure doesn't mind that that's how her ~Cully-Wully~ is gonna look in ten-fiteen years from now. Still hot as hell.

I used to use CoT...My big weather/lighting mods of choice are RCRN and ELFX. They are beauteous together. Look better than most ENBs imo...especially when you throw in super HD texture mods and the Flora Overhaul.

To reiterate again, the concept art I'm talking about hasn't ever seen the light of day.

I like the idea actually that Solas lost his hair during a spell gone wrong, because they had a younger version of him that had long hair on him. I'd say he lost it during a spell gone wrong or a science project he was doing explode.

I may have misused the metaphor! He looks like he's aging backward since DA:O is what I meant.  Like he looks 40 in the first pic, and now down to 30.  Like someone else said you could chalk it up to kicking the lyrium.

 

I'll also chime in to say that as a thirtysomething I definitely don't mind a 40 something - it's why I went for Blackwall honestly in the first PT.  But the concept art Cullen just isn't as handsome as the final version, no matter the age.  His face is totally different.  If they decided to use this final Cullen but add some crinkles here and there - hubba hubba.

It would be interesting to have seen him and Amell meet at some point in the future, both seasoned fighters; him a former templar, her a powerful mage and/or Warden.

Imagine both of them having a conversation and sharing all that life threw in their path ever since they parted ways...

My headcanon for Cullen's DAI appearance is that while yes, he does have the strain of commanding the Inquisition forces, in addition to booting the lyrium, the dark circles in DA2 are more a representation of the toll that the Ferelden Circle took on him as well as the harsh environment of the Kirkwall circle. I think his appearance is a pretty obvious retcon from Origins, but for whatever reason (and as ninetozero has explained previously that there really isn't a good explanation for him leaving the Templars) he's just happier or more at peace in the Inquisition. Hence the lack of circles under his eyes. As difficult as lyrium obviously is to get off of, it's actually better physically for him to not be on it, even if there's mental strain.
