You need to romance him with a Warden who is not really a nice person and makes a lot of renegade choices and argues with him a lot. Alistair's got some fire in him when you let him shout all his pent-up anger and resentment at the world out. It gives him and the romance a whole different feel that's not puppy love at all.

 

Of course, all arguments are then made up with a good make out session, because for all the fire bottled up in him, Al's still a teddy bear at heart.

 

I would love to try this! How do you manage it? Just use gifts to bring his approval back up?

It's an animation glitch when the in-game camera is focused on the IQ. It happens when you can accept or refuse to play chess with him.

 

That scene is full of awesome animation jumps. At one point he's laying on the ground reclined under Dorian's chair. And for a good part of the scene he's standing in the middle of the table with his arse in the IQ's face...

That scene is full of awesome animation jumps. At one point he's laying on the ground reclined under Dorian's chair. And for a good part of the scene he's standing in the middle of the table with his arse in the IQ's face...

Apparently scene animation is super hard. Or they let the high school interns do it.

So, for those who've done a Solasmance, is mine bugged, or does it not give you a "start romance" warning even through the first two kisses? I know mine puts up the warning flag for Cullen's, but I went through specifically checking, and I have never, in any option labeled with a heart, been given a "this will start a romance with Solas" flag.

It makes me wonder if some of this stuff is actually on purpose...like someone's little easter egg they left since we're not supposed to see it. Especially since there's that singing muffin-hat guy that apparently exists under Solas' room.

It's definitely bugged. Although idk if there are different levels of bugginess (if that makes any sense lol). His romance won't even trigger for me. After coming to Skyhold I forever have the "tell me about Corypheus" dialogue and that's it. Hopefully his bug will be fixed in the next patch.

I'm wondering about IB's too. I did the first scene with him and got the "start romance" warning...but it never locked the romance. I never had the "rules" talk with him, but I figured it was still active since I got the warning...and could advance the romance at any time. But nope, I was able to start Cullen's no problem and IB's literally just disappeared.

I'm not entirely sure of this, but I don't think the romance actually locks until after the Temple of Mythal.

There are two reasoning for this...either it's Cullen's mating dance or Miley Cyrus has taken over Thedas.
