The side smirk kills every time. EVERY. GORRAMIT. TIME
Whew! I'm not entirely convinced that's not photoshopped because I can see his left hand in my PT throughout that scene except for just a second before he walks away, which might have been when those shots were taken. A...promise for later?
I'd pay good money to see that... just sayin'.

Aha. here it is. Heh heh. Solas is like, about to break her in half. ![]()

So, I just (again) restarted a playthrough because I wanted awesome eyebrows. (Also, was getting tired of the Sylaise tattoo.) I usually play a dw rogue, but I went archer this time for my Dalish. Can any of you archer aficionados give me some tips? I'm kind of tired of shades running up and slapping me around while I try to back up and shoot them. I'm just really used to stabbing things.
Are you investing in the Subterfuge tree? You'll need Stealth to shake off any aggro you pull, and early in the game you'll want Knockout Powder for when your Stealth is on cooldown. Leaping Shot (and its upgrade that stuns on hit) is also really helpful to nope away from an oncoming enemy.
Also, remember to strafe. You're not rooted in place with bows, run and shoot, dodge and shoot, always keep moving around the field.
Ah, ok, that sounds familiar. That's from earlier, no?
I heard it literally as I was moving from my room to see him right after the second kiss, so it was between the kiss and the "exchange" conversation.
Not particularly... I only ever give followers their plot-related gifts, because I don't like skewing approvals with trinkets. The rest I sell off to Bhodan.
I don't actually play a mean evil mwahaha Warden, just one that makes pragmatic choices because someone must and uses a lot of sarcastic lines, and those are both things Alistair appreciates. He loves sarcasm, so he'll approve a lot when you tease him (ooh I see you're a virgin because you lack the equipment~ / uh huh that's a rose is that your new weapon of choice? etc). And he can be pretty reasonable about your questionable choices if you explain your reasoning without attempting to justify it (like, if you side with Branka, just outright tell him you'll do whatever it takes to end the Blight even if it's not pretty and he'll understand it, don't try to give a bleeding heart excuse for yourself or it'll make him even angrier at you for trying to manipulate his feelings on top of it). He'll also approve when you call out the real reasons he's upset about something - since I play a rogue, you get a lot of [Cunning] dialogue options like that. My favorite one is when you either kill Connor or Isolde and Alistair flips out when you're back to camp, and you get a Cunning option to call out that he's actually angry at himself, rather than at you.
Basically, be pragmatic, and tease him mercilessly about everything. When he's mad, let him have a go at you, then turn the argument on him. And, you know, do nice things sometimes. Pragmatism does not precluded being a good person - even a pragmatic Warden has no reason to let a demon possess a child in exchange for skill points, or be a jerk to a mother who's just found her son is dead, etc. Be interesting but honest about who you are, be funny when he needs a laugh and kind when he needs a friend, and his approval should stay up well enough on its own.
I usually go for the witty responses, but I always picked the KISA plot choices to keep him happy. I will try your recommendation since I will be starting a new playthrough with DA:O soon!
I had that exact same convo from the gossiping nobles about the exchange and betrothals with Cullenmance.

I've always found Alistair really easy to keep happy, even without gifts... might be because he has the same type of sense of humour as I do, so I always pick responses that seem to tickle him, lol.

I know. Heh. Beneath that prim, scholarly exterior beats the heart of a god who probably helped invent sex. ![]()

I haven't yet, but I will be! I literally just restarted a few hours ago and had to save during the prologue for dinner. I will probably be nopeing away from a lot of enemies. I honestly can't remember the last time I played an archer. ![]()
I knew it locked then (for all the good it does you at that point, lol), but most of them seem to have both a "start a romance" and "lock romance" warning. I definitely seemed to be in the romance since I've gotten both kisses, and he called me ma vhenan, but still no flag saying the romance was starting. I'm half tempted to wait until just before the Temple, launch Cullen's romance, and see if I can get the polyamory bug.
No, there's no [start a romance with Solas] or [commit to a romance with Solas] warnings before you click a dialogue option, which IMO isn't exactly fair for those who get blindsided with how Solas's romance goes down.
I highly recommend the polyamory bug, though. Double the fun after the Temple of Mythal.
I can't tell if he's touching her or himself O.o

Yup. That's the one. She's so tiny! It was hard to get used to seeing a very, very tiny Lavellan after my giant human.

Huh. Yeah, I got the exchange one right after kiss number two as well. Ah well. I was just excited SOMEONE thinks we're in a romance, since the dude won't talk to me anymore about anything besides Cory. :/
OK FINE. I'M YOUR HEART. I GET IT. LET'S GET IT ON ALREADY!!!
... no, no, I'm not in the romance wasteland before Arbor Wilds... why do you ask? ![]()

I wonder what would happen if that triggered with two companions that have the ending cutscene on the balcony? Perhaps 3 of them all hugging? LOL!

Yeah what happens during the party scene and in the bedroom??
"Doggy style? I invented that!"

LOL, well somehow I magically was able to both hug Cullen when returning to Skyhold and then cry to Leliana about Solas leaving without saying goodbye.
I was curious how things went down at the Winter Palace, though, and it was Cullen's dance scene that triggered. I was kind of hoping for some bizarre scene where they both walk in and talk to her at the same time. Alas, no such luck, heh.
Here are some screenshots of key moments after the Temple of Mythal, for the curious:

But I admit I've been fascinated by his hands since I saw the shot between Haven and Skyhold when he lights the Veilfire, so I'd been watching his hands pretty closely in that second kiss anyway. ![]()
I know. Heh. Beneath that prim, scholarly exterior beats the heart of a god who probably helped invent sex.
Or at least wrote the manual on it
If I'd seen that first kiss before finding out the ending, I'd have assumed he'd spent a lot of time spectating on old dreams of lovemaking to have that kind of experience. Which he may have anyway. Then again, there must have been a reason a goddess wanted his services for a year and a day...

Did you pick Tempest for the specialization? Seems like it would be the best way to go.
