I prefer to discuss the characters as opposed to the issues in the game. The issues make the game interesting, but I'm not sure what there is to say about them. There's so much more to talk about in terms of breaking down and speculating about characters and their personalities and relationships.

As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing to talk about when it comes to the issues. We have our opinions and there's nothing some random schmo on the internet can say to change our minds.

haha. You kids are so cute. He looks, maybe, 40.

I...I'll be over here with my walker.

Look, I'm entitled to my own opinion. I don't like older men with long beards that look like they could be my dad's age. He looks late 50's early 60's to me. And nothing you say is going to change that! Sorry if it hurts your feelings, but I am entitled to my own tastes and perceptions. I am not attracted to GW and none of you are going to convince me otherwise.

If companions/advisers teach the specialisations, I imagine it will be something like...

Warriors.

Templar = Cullen

Champion = Cassandra

Reaver = Iron Bull

Rogues

Artificer = Varric or Scribe Girl?

Assassin = Lelianna or Cole?

Tempest = Sera?

Mages

Knight Enchanter = Vivienne

Rift = Solas

Necromancer = Dramatic Hands Guy

Iron Bull a reaver that's an interesting theory...I'd like to see that,maybe the concept art where he stands in front of the dragon might mean more than we thought.

That's somewhat true, but in my opinion, the issues equally are as important and interesting to talk about as the characters. You can only dissect a person's personality so much w/o running out of ideas.

Well I just don't know what there is to speculate about in terms of, say, the mage/templar war. Maybe it's because lore stuff doesn't interest me as much. The DA lore is really great, and god knows I sure haven't been capable of building a fantasy world from the ground up, but I've read so many fantasy books as a kid that I kind of feel like I've seen it all.

Ultimately, in those threads it just boils down to some forumers arguing about mages' rights versus others arguing about templars' rights, and it's just like, it's a story... why are you arguing about a story LOL

:lol: I'm sorry, I read that and thought "ahh, the skewed age perceptions of the young!" -- mind you there are men in their 60s who still have oodles of goddamned sex appeal. And sex appeal need not be based on looks. In fact most of my drool worthy fave actors are a good 10-30 years older than I am and like fine cured liquors they just got better and better and RRROOW.

Grey Wardens... they suffer shortened life spans and most Wardens have only thirty years at most after their Joining before the taint consumes them.

I have no idea how old he is

True, I can see where you are coming from in regards to the lore. All the fantasy systems start to run together after reading so much. But for me, that's what I love about the lore. It makes the world feel alive to me in a way that not many fantasy settings do. And it's all so captivating.

ShadowReign, I hear you. I think he looks to be in his 50s too, which imo is too old, and I think that beard is very unattractive.

Aww that's okay; you don't have to be attracted to anyone (I never miss an opportunity to diss Solas or mustache dude :P); it's just saying he looks 60 sounds ridiculous to some of us older folks because we know just from looking at the varoius concept arts and game play footages that he's nowhere near 60. It's also a little (unintentionally) insulting towards anyone older than a twenty-something; it's like saying "all old people look alike!"

Anyway, he looks a lot like Thorin Oakenshield from the Hobbit to me, and FYI Richard Armitage is only 42:

Certainly didn't seem that way with the whole 'screwed age perception' and being young. So, no, I'd have to disagree. There's a better way of stating your opinions w/o saying things along those lines.

Samara, just saw your big post in that thread. Well said, ma'am!

It was a definite "drops mic" moment.

hehehe... Thanks. It seems I'm writing a book with each post. I'm about to just walk away though. After the last one, the poster I replied to just proved how obtuse he or she is.

Yeah, but Armitage doesn't really look like that. That's a whole lot of make-up and a bit of work with his hair.

And I haven't seen the Hobbit movies, but is Thorin really supposed to be in his early 40s if he looks like that?

Yeah I can see 50s (in fact I'd guess 50s) but to me saying he's 60-something is ludicrous :lol:

They added the beard and the hair, but they didn't paint lines onto his face.

Here's a nice contemporary RA:

Spoiler

I do wish they'd do this with Cullen. Give him some crow's feet... some creases in his forehead... a slight lessening of hair in the front. Just make him look older! Clearly a man can age and still look drop dead gorgeous.

I didn't get the impression that they were saying you had to like him or be attracted to him. I think they were making the point that your age radar is a little off to those who are older. I think it's totally fine you aren't attracted to him, if you're young being attracted to an older person is unusual typically. Younger individuals have a statistical tendencies to overshot on age when they make an age assumption-especially if that person is above 35. The flip is true for people above that age. They have a tendency to under guess a persons age if they are below 35! :D
I think the real issue people had was it really seemed like you were saying "He's ugly because he's old. Ew!" And many people in this thread are that age, close to that age and older :)

:blink: More like late 40s, early 50s. He's not in his 60s lol

 Lol, i'm inclined to agree here. My dad was 53 when he passed away and he had gray stubble in his black beard thing (whatever it was) and his black hair was also starting to gray over. Hairy GW dude doesn't look like he's in his 60's at all, at least in my opinion. He does look older, but, nah. :P

Hate the beard and yes I am in fact unattracted to him because he is old. Sorry, but that's the fact. It would be like me posting a pic of some teenager (and myself being one) with the emphasis on them being so completely gorgeous. Most people who are older would, probably, be like: 'But that could be my kid or something so no, ew.' You know?
