I think if it was up to Alistair, he'd name his kids Duncan and Wynne because they seem to be the people he cared for the most.

Bryce, & Eleanor are good ideas for Alistair's & Warden's kids. Oren... Maybe not? I mean, I won't like it if I was named after a dead cousin... I'll feel like I was somehow a replacement. And if I was Fergus... having my dead kid's name popped up everytime, well IDK...

 

Edit: the idea's sweet but personally I don't think that it's a good idea to even mention it to Fergus... Hmmm... IDK. It just... shock me personally but well, don't mind me

Naming children in honor of a relative who died or someone who was particularly important to your family was common historically in many cultures. Generally people thought of it much more positively than most people would now; seeing the person as a "replacement" isn't a concept in most traditional cultures unlike individualism which is very recent. I think picking a name without some connection to the family would have been more likely to suggest you weren't important to your family.

 

I wouldn't (and didn't) do that to my own kids; their names were picked for different reasons, though one did get a middle name that was a variation on a family name. And if the idea makes you uncomfortable, then certainly you shouldn't use them even in a game. I guess I could see Alistair and the warden naming the kid Oren if they decide to have children pretty long after they defeat the Blight. But if we assume that the Blight took only about a year and they had their kids not too long after that then I think it would be too soon to name their child Oren. Personally I would feel kind of uncomfortable if my child died and about 2 years later my sibling had a child with the same name, even if their intentions were pure.

...and in the end, what someone wants to name fictional children in their fic can be determined in a number of ways, according to the needs of the writer and the story. There are TONS of name generators online that can help with this. But only the writer can decide what fits his or her story.

I think it sounds delightful for those with artistic talent. You should also promote the notion on tumblr and maybe devart, where there may be a higher fraction of artists... ?

Not sure if you watch Graham Norton...Seth MacFarlane on his show was absolutely hilarious:

 

 

Hopefully my neighbor is as annoyed at me laughing at this as I was at her loud music last night. And I think Seth kind of hates Tom Cruise, or at least makes fun of him a lot, so it's weird to see them on the couch together. And I'm pretty sure that's legit alcohol he's drinking. He gets super nervous on talk shows and is, I'm pretty sure, mostly drunk just to get through them.

I have a question - I started Awakenings for the first time last night (I know, I know, don't judge) and in Origins I ended up alive with Alistair in the wardens as my BF.  But I'm a couple hours into Awakenings and he hasn't been mentioned, and my Warden has flirt prompts for everyone (I imported her). What gives?

Sadly, Warden!Alistair isn't mentioned in Awakenings until the epilogue (if romanced).

Yeah, I didn't understand that either.  He said that to my Warden too with the same import.  Awakenings is infamous for bugs but I'm pretty sure that isn't one, odd as it is.

Yeah, I kinda got the impression that he was really nervous. He no longer has the security of anonymity so I can only imagine that it's hard for someone that doesn't like being under the microscope.

The only time you see Ali in Awakenings is if he's king. And if you played a Cousland queen, he calls her "wife."
