High school wasn't so bad for me in the sense that I was invisible. Nobody was cruel. Middle school on the other hand...I remember panic attacks, anxiety and lots of crying every day. Middle school kids are the stuff of nightmares...they're nasty little sh**s.

Not sure where you're from, but here:

  • Middle School - Grades 6 - 8, ages 10 - 13
  • High School - Grades 9 - 12, ages 14 - 18

Awww poor thing!

I`m from Montreal!!! Last part of middle school was not great cause I changed schools and lost all my friends. Highschool: I was tolerated, but let's just say I went to my prom ALONE. I didn't bother going to my highschool reunion.

I never get ANYONE in my cells.  So they show up down there?  This must be a bug...

Me either. Dorian kept talking about how Alexius was in the dungeon in Haven, but it was empty. My Skyhold dungeons have been empty, too. :(

Sorry, I know this was from a while back, but I missed the whole convo and wanted had to share...

I was picked on severely in school for being "ugly".  It was painful, but I learned to deal with it through humor (ie, making fun of myself). Plus, I just assumed it was true. Hell, my own family even said things like "well...at least you are smart".  Kinda stinks with you when you realize that most of the world doesn't think you are attractive.  Even in my 30's, it is really difficult for me to take a compliment because I assume they are lying.  I try not to have a chip on my shoulder about it, but, hey, I'm only human.

BUT...despite all those years of feeling unattractive, of convincing myself that I had to have a great personality and boatloads of charm to even have a chance that someone would love me, I ended up with a totally GORGEOUS man who thinks I'm beautiful and makes me feel like a goddess.Seriously...taking him to parties is my secret joy because folks are usually shocked that I have such a hotty for a beau.  And the hot girls always flirt with him and he rolls his eyes because he is the rare gorgeous man who just..doesn't...see people based on what they look like.

But, aside from me bragging about how loved I am (I can practically hear the gagging sounds), I wanted to share this clip of the Dustin Hoffman interview about Tootsie. I think alot of men (an women) could benefit from watching this.  It is pretty amazing...and emotional...

*snip*

If this were Reddit, I'd upvote you to the top page and keep you there for all eternity :) I am glad that you have arrived at this stage in your life, though it was a rough journey. And that video was amazing, and so very true :)

oh! Wait: one kid bothered to tell me that I had made it to the top 10 girls not because I was actually cute, but because I had boobs. So that deserved a spot.  <_<

Yeah, I was kinda tom-boyish too.  Also, I just couldn't be bothered to "doll-up".  Feminine "hot" clothes were too restrictive, make-up on my face was always a catastrophe...I just couldn't be bothered!

At the risk of dating myself, I was in HS in the 90's and it was actually cool to wear baggy guy stuff.  In fact most of my clothes were men's clothes, flannel, docs etc.  No makeup except for maybe some lipstick, short hair.  I feel bad for girls now that feel the need to dress slutty to keep up.

Good for you! Seriously, I love that! F**k the people who were cruel to you, and I'm glad you found yourself a hot piece 'o' ass who only has eyes for you!

HA!  Thanks!  He is indeed a hot piece-o-ass with a good heart.  He actually buzzed all of my hair once off because i didn't want to spend 5-weeks in the field with tangles in my hair.  He took a video of it and everything.  Most guys would hate it if their girls shaved their head, but he though it was awesome! Maker, I love that man!

This was me starting in 8th grade. It got so bad by high school (when I was diagnosed with depression), that I ended up having to leave school and do long-distance learning. :( College was a huge improvement, at least.

I'm really glad I don't have a teenage girl. I don't know how I'd keep her clothed.

Oh, it was the 90s for me too!  But it was in the south, so the hot girls still wore there little tight sweaters and earrings and jeans, while us "rejects" did the flannel shirts and all that.  I remember my friend crying in class because Kurt Cobain died.  Gah, we were all so angsty!!!

Well...it depends on what you mean by attractive.  In school, by popular vote, I was definitely considered unattractive.  But I...I am also very animated and use my hands and have cartoon-like faces when I talk, and my students always describe me as "warm" and "approachable" and "real" in their evaluations.  So I think I am attractive in the sense that I am...approachable, and folks seem to enjoy being around me. Would guys describe me as hot?  No way.  But...I like how I look becuase it is me...though it took 35 years to get to the point where I really believed that! :P

Honestly that confidence thing works on guys as well, so yea I think that does help :) A fun personality is always nice. I'm not the best looking person around either, but I think my friends, romantic and not like me because I'm laid back and like to have a good time. If you've seen me around the forum, I'm rarely serious  It's a problem sometimes, but that's part of my charm I think.

But I bet you look better than you think ;) Your husband obviously seems to think so, so **** what anyone else thinks.

What's funny is all the popular girls are now wearing those flannel shirts and being all 90's hipster... fashion is an odd thing, isn't it, lol.

I`m sure there were some guys who were into you and you didn't know it. Two types of people find me cute: straight women and gay men. Neither can do anything for me, so...

Well if they were they sure didn't say anything! I even went to my senior prom with my cousin's (we were good friends) best friend. We went as friends...it was ok though since he wasn't from my school and nobody knew him...and he was hawt - total football jock. Gave me a little boost on the popularity scale.

Well, I had other female problems in high school. I started out with nothin' and then by senior year they were OMG so I tried my best to cover them up, as in practically wearing bags. Now, I just go with it. There is no covering "them" up...unless I wear a turtle neck. In fact, I have to go into the office on Thursday (I'm normally a 100% remote worker) and I can't find a top that's appropriate enough to wear!  :(

Honestly for me the only thing about myself that I've never hated was my looks. In all the time I've been bullied, no one ever told me I was ugly. Maybe that was because most of my bullying took place in elementary school before that sort of stuff becomes important, I don't know. I've believed from the bottom of my heart that I was stupid, even though I'm far from. I've thought I could never do anything right even though that wasn't true either. And even now my first instinct when faced with something new is still "I can't do it." But at least I can look in the mirror and think my eyes are pretty. Not that I think I'm stunningly beautiful - I'm certainly not perfect, but on the whole I'm fine with the way I look. It's one of the very few things about myself that I'm not cripplingly insecure about. So I'm glad.

I was lucky. My bullies went to a different high school, so it was like a light switch for me. Nobody made fun of me. That still didn't stop me from eating lunch in the library though. By half-way through senior year, I all of a sudden became semi-popular. I'm not sure how that happened.

I went to high school in the later part of the 90's (graduated in '99), so alas, it was a fashion show.

I was looking at my graduating class FB page not too long ago. All the chicks that were so "beautiful" and peaked in high school miraculously look like old hags with burlap skin now. It's great.

I was in NW Florida, which is sort of the south but not really, in a military area. The cheerleader types still wore tight jeans but everyone acknowledged the flannel/baggy jeans style. My go-to outfit was a Public Enemy tee, a loose black skirt and black and white striped tights with my Air Force issue combat boots (docs came later).  My mother HATED my clothes, she always wanted me to look like a "girl".

So, uh, sorry for interrupting the high school reminiscence, but I have an actual Cullen related question...

Did any of you guys drink from the well on a Inquisitor romancing Cullen? He has that one comment at the war table about being concerned for the implications of it, but nothing else. I'm doing an alternate playthrough right now where my IQ drank from the well, and while I'm enjoying the alternate dialogues and cutscenes better than letting Morrigan have it (not ready to commit to either version yet though), I'm a bit stumped on how this reflects on her relationship with Cullen, both Andrastians and Maker-fearing and now she's gone and bound herself to a dead elven maybe not-god. Awkward.

So how do you headcanon a romanced Cullen's reaction, or his feelings about her drinking from the well? Is he okay with it, is he curious about the historical knowledge she's gained, is he worried it'll kill her, is he breathing into a paperbag, is he praying extra hard? I have some ideas of where to take this, but they need work. Particularly curious how it went if you played a human non-mage Inquisitor, as that my setup and where I can see the most conflicting feelings about it from both parts, but any feedback helps putting these thoughts together. ;)
