I just finished a human mage run where she drank from the well. I kinda head canon that he is completely freaking out at the 'cost' of being bound to an unknown god and what might actually happen. He probably laid into her about being reckless and impulsive without considering the consequences. Actually if you are playing a non mage maybe warrior? It could tie in nicely to the talk you have about choosing templar, where he is well aware of how far you will go to protect others, by taking in the well yourself to prevent the power falling into Morrigan's hands thinking you'll be more responsible with it.

Head canon accepted for my Templar quizzie! Even better, they both will still be templars...

What triggers Perseverance, btw? I'm trying to space out the romance conversations with Cullen, and I'd like to trigger the first kiss just before Perseverance if I can (I want the mage dialogue on the first PT; if I do a second Cullen romance later, I may try delaying the romance until after).

I believe Perseverance will trigger after either Adamant or Wicked Hearts. So you would need to trigger the romance before going to the first big quest.

Eeek...I don't remember! My memory sucks. But I delayed the romance as much as possible...did a couple of quests before returning to Skyhold. Like the Winter Palace dance happened for me, JUST before the sex scene. So the "for you, i'`ll try " was totally spot on for me.  I think I did Adamant just before and it triggered Perseverance right after.

Not 100% sure, but logically you absolutely must have the lyrium discussion with him first.

Well, when you make the decision, you don't know that Mythal is still living. So that's a brand new conversation when you get back from the Fade. Is your Inquisitor going to regret it even more than Cullen will, aside from anything Bioware might do in a DLC?

Is your Kieran an OGB?

I don't know how my Inquisitor feels about it, to be honest. On one hand, it's.... interesting, the concept of having all this knowledge and trying to decide what to do with it. There was a good conversation with Solas about it where they finally agreed on something - that this knowledge should be used carefully and sparsely, and for the right reasons. On the other hand, she's not too big on magic as you know, so the whole voices in her head and being manipulated by ancient entities is really weirding her out. The conversation with Sera after the temple (about how the Maker and the elfy stuff don't fit together) went pretty much, yeah I don't believe any of that stuff, which is more or less how I imagine her first conversations with Cullen about it going - but now I'm going through the Flemeth scene and she literally pupetteered my IQ around, so that's a harsh blow to Ari's hubris. So much to process!

And yeah Kieran is OGB in this pt, Loghain was my designated Warden in the Abyss quest as usual, but later I got a letter from my Warden, so apparently she's still alive? I'm thinking I messed something up while poking around at the Keep, some tile that wasn't locked reverted to the OGB existing and I didn't notice before I imported. Sigh this was going to be my completionist canon run but guess not, lol. Well, it's interesting to see the extra content Kieran gets, but I'm really curious how the original scene without him plays out if you drank from the well yourself. I shall poke through my saves to try that one out.

Great, thanks! I'm going to be wandering around the Exalted Plains for a while before going to the Winter Palace. I'm putting off going to Crestwood  to find Stroud; I'm not in a hurry to do the Abyss because of having to make that choice.

I think that's left open for interpretation. With all of my characters, there is no "being chaste." In fact, with some of them, my head canon is that the desk scene wasn't their first time. The game never does really specify.

Same, first time, gentle romantic and a bed with a complete ceiling lol

You do need to at least have the convo with Cullen where he tells you that he hasn't been taking it.

Just to make sure: are you referring to Perseverance? Cause if you are, I kissed him first and then had Perserance. I dunno if the dialogue is different, but I felt that when we had the discussion, it was more intimate. Perhaps it's my imagination.

That's partly what I was getting at. When you make the decision to drink from the Well, Abelas tells you that you'll be bound to the will of Mythal. And two sentences later he says she was murdered, "if a god truly can be." So, if you're Andrastian, you can have reasons to drink from the Well without thinking about elven gods. It's only when you get back to Skyhold that you find out about Flemeth. To me, that's the, "Crap, if only I'd known..." part.

You can headcanon (and now I'm coming up with my own headcanon) that you get back, freak out to Cullen about Mythal, cry on the bedroom floor or whatever, and not know what the hell is going to happen to you. All you wanted was to know how to defeat Corypheus, agreed to get a bunch of knowledge that you don't know what to do with, and only later found out that, oh yeah, Mythal's alive and well. So, I guess my headcanon is that the Inquisitor has just as much, if not more reason to start breathing into that paper bag.

Oh I don't mean that I don't think the desk scene is worthy of being a "first time" for a couple. I find it rather hawt. I just meant that for some of my girls, they've already been intimate as a couple before that point.  :D

The romances in DAO (at least Alistair) always voiced there opinions about the decisions you made and would even go as far as bringing it up again in camp. It upsets me that that doesn't happen more often with Cullen (and other companions) in DAI. I have to say, although it's nice to be able to quickly exit the conversations, I don't like the casual conversation set up. I miss the close up convos you could have in DAO even when they were casual. It made what they were saying seem more important. Not to mention they were easier to hear.

Well, you know, counting the stars in the sky can be pretty romantic too, especially if you're a bit cold & are hugging each others... I can see the convo goes like this:

Inquisitor: so many stars in the sky... I understand now why you want to leave the ceiling open.

Cullen: There's beauty there. I like falling asleep looking at them

...

something like that. :P

The thing is, I can picture one of them catching pneumonia from the cold & dampness (mainly Cullen, he's the one sleeping there most nights). That bed and/or blanket will surely get wet each morning. Each time I do camping on the mountains I often get the top of my sleeping bag wet from the early morning dew, especially in front of my nose. Water vapor from my breaths always wet the sleeping bag a lot.

For like 30 seconds!  Then he goes back to being cheerful, "Come and join as at the war table :D"

Hehe, he's so silly.

So, uh, sorry for interrupting the high school reminiscence, but I have an actual Cullen related question...

Did any of you guys drink from the well on a Inquisitor romancing Cullen? He has that one comment at the war table about being concerned for the implications of it, but nothing else. I'm doing an alternate playthrough right now where my IQ drank from the well, and while I'm enjoying the alternate dialogues and cutscenes better than letting Morrigan have it (not ready to commit to either version yet though), I'm a bit stumped on how this reflects on her relationship with Cullen, both Andrastians and Maker-fearing and now she's gone and bound herself to a dead elven maybe not-god. Awkward.

So how do you headcanon a romanced Cullen's reaction, or his feelings about her drinking from the well? Is he okay with it, is he curious about the historical knowledge she's gained, is he worried it'll kill her, is he breathing into a paperbag, is he praying extra hard? I have some ideas of where to take this, but they need work. Particularly curious how it went if you played a human non-mage Inquisitor, as that my setup and where I can see the most conflicting feelings about it from both parts, but any feedback helps putting these thoughts together. ;)

I actually did this with my first character who romanced Cullen. Thaelia Trevelyan was a very bright, and adept mage so she knew of many ancient magics and that they all came with costs. So when it came to Cullen, she always expressed to him that she knew what she was doing and that she could handle it; which adds some angst if you want Cullen to still be so protective of her*which I think he would be*. I believe that Cullen would feel as if my character had signed a contract with the Devil, but may just know where the loophole is. He would obviously be very concerned and watching for any sign of chance in her, but he would know that Thaelia could take the risks and find the best outcome of that situation.

Oooh I can imagine a scene, that after the dry humping he started to undress her, then she started to undress him, then she laughed and pulled away and run across the room, he had to catched her, some wild undressing scene occured, she kept running & he kept chasing her, many laughs, then she climbed the ladders, teasing him. Cullen was only in his loincloth when he joined her up, they finished undressing each other upstairs... and then voilà!!

He got a blanket on his bed. Only he slept above the blanket on under the blanket. Sometimes I think that Orlesian Bed 3 is actually made by the dev specifically for Cullen's bedroom. Then they say OK we can put it with the rest of the bed textures...

My Cullen romance WS has a King Alistair/Queen Cousland in a political marriage, with Zevran in the background :P, so it'll be Hawke and Stroud. Even though I never played DA2, I'm not happy with leaving either of them behind, but it'll probably be Stroud staying in this one. I want to vary up the order, though, on some other PTs (I have one coming up with a Warden Alistair, so I want to plan that one carefully, but I'm hoping they fix the Alistair-Morrigan dialogue before then).

I believe I've had that convo and the chess game; I've got the option to start the romance at this point. I'll ask him about whether he left someone behind in Kirkwall later when I'm about half done with the Exalted Plains and trigger the kiss just before leaving for Wicked Eyes.
