Mmm hmm.  I know you guys have had this thread going since April but I'm new here so I'm not done with gushing yet .

 

His arm plate here reminds me of something - maybe the thingy from Mass Effect?

 

Yeah...I've been a lurker but never bothered to sign in and join the discussion. And about gushing; the bf caught me gushing over a Cullen line. He kinda went "awwwwwwwwwwwwww" with me, but he finds it funny that I am so...into this character. He went to bed and he was like " you can go f!/$ him".

OT question for you tech types, is there a way to get Shadowplay running on an Alienware laptop? I've got it downloaded, I meet the specs, I launch it, launch the game, hit the shortcut to record, and nothing. I've got the Status Indicator enabled in prefs but it doesn't show up on the overlay, and there's no video in the save locations. I've read that it could be because I'm trying to get this to work on a laptop, but I'm wondering if I'm just missing a step.

 

I had this problem at first as well (I'm on a desktop). First off, do you have a compatible GPU? For laptops that's only 700M, 800M, and 900M series, with "select" 600M. It also only seems to work in fullscreen mode. 

 

The symptoms you describe is exactly the issue I had. What fixed it for me was:

• turn off Shadowplay
• shut down game
• restart computer
• turn on Shadowplay
• restart game
• voila

Not sure if that will help, but it worked for me! Now it works like a charm!

Had a little reminder tonight of Cullen's old mistrust in mages from DA2. "Not all mages fall to temptation but all mages are vulnerable to it" or something like that. Makes me amazed by the growth of his character.

Lelianna was in all three and we don't see her evolve that much, Alistair as king appears in all three and nothing much there either. But Cullen, wow...

They could do a whole bunch of creative stuff. Like, laying in bed and quizzie or Cullen asking "So, how about round 2" and let us say this scene repeats itself...you could have a "woman! are you trying to kill me!?" or for the ones who abuse it "not now love, I`m tired". I dunno, I'd have a riot with it.

You know I couldn't get Shadowplay to work at first until I started the game through Nvidia... after that never had a problem & never had to start it through Nvidia to get it to work again. Sounds silly but it worked...

Yeah agreed. Im playing O an 2 now and she just has this sugar coated bad ass bard thing about her. As spymaster, she's really one dimensional. Although they had to backpedal on her character development I'm sure. We fall in love with her in DAO, get nostalgic in DA2 and DAI she's like that distant cousin that shows up and you're like

I wonder why they left til after finishing the main boss fight/storyline for him to say that to the IQ...

And yeah it made me so happy after I finished the game to hear him say that & asking if I've come to distract him...

The thing about the "beautiful" line... it's the only gender-specific line I can think of in the game (assuming he wouldn't call a male IQ beautiful). This makes me thing it was added later in the development.

If you have Alistair as a warden in this game, he has changed.  He seems wiser and a bit more serious, world weary. But nothing like Cullen's arc for sure. 

 

I just read a comment on Tumblr (I think Dragon Age Confessions) - they said that Cullen was the reason they were hooked on DA:O because of his interaction if you have a mage origin, and I realized that's true for me as well. I rolled a female mage first time and that cute flirty convo they had totally hooked me into the game. I nearly died when he ran away.  Ah, Cullen.

Hey, guys. I didn't forget about you...but I had a pretty god awful day so I wasn't able to work on my snippet until this evening. I never go back on my promises however so although it's a little shorter than I would have liked, below is my version of what SHOULD have happened after the Temple of Mythal quest. Hope y'all enjoy

Dark tendrils curled around Moira as she gingerly ascended the steps to her bedchamber. Whispers called, beckoned to her in a tongue so ancient she couldn’t fathom the words, yet she knew what they yearned for in the way they electrified her nerves and licked at the blood coursing through her veins. I need to lie down.

Reaching the landing, she welcomed the cool mountain breeze that gusted through the open door and ruffled her hair, and for a second the voices seeped back into her mind’s far recesses. In her brief moment of clarity, Moira spotted a figure on the balcony silhouetted by the night. Hands clasped firmly behind his back, he gazed out into the perpetual expanses of the sky, but upon hearing the wood creak beneath Moira’s feet, he spun around.

Within moments his hands clutched her face, eyes boring into her with such intensity she felt a sudden urge to look away. He searched desperately for an indication that she was still the same person who tenderly kissed him goodbye at Skyhold’s gate two weeks prior. So they’ve informed him…

“Moira,” he pleaded. “Please. Tell me it isn’t true.” Perspiration beaded on his hairline. “Promise me you didn’t drink from that well.”

Puffy, dark circles shadowed his eyes, and his calloused hands shook from the magnified effects of lyrium withdrawal. She averted his gaze. “Cullen…I…had to…”

He released her and paced in front of her desk, running his hands repeatedly through his sandy curls. Abruptly, he slammed his fist on the polished wood. Moira sucked in sharply.

“What were you thinking?” he growled.  

“I was-”

“NO. You weren’t. Of course you weren’t thinking. And why should you? You’re the bloody INQUISITOR.” Muscles flexing, teeth clenching, he knocked the items off her desk. Letters and inquisition documents fluttered, pens rolled, ink splattered, and the vase full of flowers he picked from the garden the day before shattered on the floor.

Moira gaped at him in horror and sank to her knees amidst the glistening glass fragments. The whispers in her ears transformed into hissing shrieks. Triggered by her distress, they slammed into her mind, threatening to break it altogether. She clapped her hands over her ears. “Cullen! Please, stop!” she begged, voice cracking. “I-I had no other choice. I couldn’t let Morrigan drink from it. I…” Sobs escaped her lips.

Instantly ashamed of the chaos he caused, Cullen knelt down beside her. Gently, he placed her delicate hands in his and stroked them with his thumb. She trembled. “You must understand. I thought I lost you, Moira. When Leliana related that you drank from the well, I felt certain that you became victim to possession,” genuine concern replaced his fury.

“I sacrificed myself for the inquisition because I didn’t trust Morrigan, and couldn’t fathom the consequences had she been imbued with Mythal’s powers. I didn’t dare contemplate the repercussions of my actions, but I knew I had to be the one to do it. I am so sorry, Cullen,” she said.

He drew her into a hug, and she inhaled the familiar pine scent that clung to his skin. They stayed like that for a long time. As he stroked her hair and traced his fingers up and down her spine, their breathing aligned. She allowed herself to drift into unconsciousness in his protective embrace. Tenderly, he pressed his lips to her forehead, and warmth bloomed throughout her body. He looked out at the shimmering beacons that illuminated the jet black sky. Maker protect her…

The first time I played Origins, I didn't even romance Alistair, I romanced Leliana.  I didn't get into him until later. Weird, right? I am way more into Cullen though, for sure.

It irks me that love scenes tend to be more geared on the whole let see the female naked (Cass and your IQ if you romance Blackwall) but nothing for the guys. I mean yeah you see Cullen naked in bed having the dream, but still would it kill them to show a more erotic cut? Something very ME3 Liara type thing. I also like the whole again suggestion too. I always laugh at my ME Male who when romancing Liara can take the renegade response and ask her if she is ready for round two. Fable3 is funny too if you try to sleep with your spouse 2 times in a row he mentions things like you being almost to much woman for him or he needs a break and such. Those kind of lines would of been freaking awesome.

I completely disagree with you. I think what did with Leliana is amazing because it shows that she has grown, not for the best perhaps but she has grown. I love her development in DA:I because we see how all the past events have worn on her, much like Alistair. I adored how I could soften in DA:I and bring her closer to who she once was. If you soften her she says that she is so thankful that you brought back to the person she could reconize. Leliana will be never be the same because she has experienced so much, but that experience is what makes her a great character. I hope I don't come off hostile, lol! I just really love what they did with her.
