Well, that was a response to a flirt so it's expected - and awesome.  But the war room is static dialogue.  I'm adding romantic tension everywhere on this PT - ha.

 

Oh I meant to say to you - thank you so much for the flattering comments about my Dalish!  She looks more like me at 19, truthfully, being a teeny skinny elf.  I even used to straighten my hair. Also I was more tan back then.

Thank you everyone for the input on lyrium! I really appreciate it! I know that the devs intended to implement a system of diminishing return for using lyrium in-game. So, there was this idea that it becomes less effective with prolonged use. Maybe Templars start off by ingesting small amounts, then the dosage increases, then the delivery method has to change to maintain effectiveness. 

 

As far as mages is concerned, even being close to raw lyrium can kill them. They are much more sensitive to it, apparently. 

 

My idea is that in small amounts, lyrium will confer magical abilities (augment mages' powers, and give Templars their unique abilities). In large amounts it nullifies magic by blocking the connection to the Fade - hence its use in the Rite of Tranquility. And for Templars, it confers some resistance to magic?

 

One more question: are Templars resistant to blood magic? 

 

 

 EDIT: I have gathered images of the "lyrium kit" and DA:I Lyrium bottles in all position that I can find in-game. Interested or you already have it?

Technically, the Litany of Adralla only stops mental manipulation, only when such magic is being cast.

Nope. Not at all. It can absolutely wreck them.

 

 

However, Knight Captain Evangeline was able to block a blood magic laced fire spell for like two seconds before her shield shattered.

I've a question for you regarding lyrium and Cullen. Have any of you taken a close look at the kit that he uses in the game? It seems that rather than being ingested it is delivered directly to the bloodstream (there are some sharp utensils in there to make me think so).

 

Actually, I believe I saw a vid showing a quizzie who made him take it (cruel... ), and when quizzie left the room, Cullen was drinking the stuff from a small bottle.

IKR, he's sooooo sad there. The thing is I really need good shots of Lyrium bottles & the only moment you get to see it real close is when you made him back to it. So it was like 5 times rewatching to get all angles of the bottle. 5 times torturing Cullen

 

Then reload for the 6th time & he got 6 kisses at the battlement.

I know this isn't quite the same as what Cullen's going through, but I quit smoking a few months ago so I really respect and wanted to encourage Cullen going off Lyrium.  I still have cravings for it, but I imagine quitting smoking wouldn't be nearly as difficult.  I can still *kind of* relate, though.

Yeah the scene is just very very cold. She really doesn't give a damn. IMO, it's a big jump from being a caring friend or LI and then shoving it down his throat. It's really just abrupt. I can't do that to someone.

Thanks  And you're right, it's a lot like that.  I can understand not wanting to risk him dying, though, since it's apparently possible to die from going off lyrium cold turkey (and you offer to find a safer way to get off the stuff).

 

When my Quizzy was just his friend my first playthrough, she simply told him not to take it.  I didn't hit the heart icons with anyone but Solas on that playthrough, otherwise she would have said she cared what he wanted (which can be friendly and/or romantic to say).  Afterwards, trying his romance, I said that I cared what he wanted.  Which I agree, it's awesome.

While IRL I won't ever suggest anyone back to any kind of substance that might cause dependence/harmful effect, a discussion I had in Cass thread with Cass fans are quite... mind opening to say the least. Some pointed lots of valid reason for asking Cullen to be back to Lyrium, most of them are concerned for his well being & meant well & not just wanting to play the ass-quisitor. Apparently some think that Cullen's method of going Cold Turkey is too dangerous since "it's not RL drugs" and even in RL drugs it's recommended to have medical advices & follow up. Even Cullen acknowledge that most people who do it the same way he did either die or went mad. Well...

 

Still, I can't do that. I can't. I'll just let other people play & see their video for references & keep Cullen out of it in my PT

Greg Ellis' doing a helluva good job with the praying & hug scene if you put him back to Lyrium tho, even better than if you tell him not to take it anymore
