So is there an emerging consensus on the patch? On day 1, there were folks complaining about getting stuck in Walk mode and weird things like that, so I'm staying clear for a bit, particularly since I'm mid playthrough. But, sounds like you folks aren't having any problems...?

Honestly, the only new thing I've run into was that I haven't been able to use a Keep WS to create a new character yet. I didn't test it late last night, though.

No patch problems for me yet but I have no use for walk mode, if that matters.

I`m relieved! Would you know if DA:O is? Does it matter if the game was purchased through Steam?

DA:O was not officially supported for the controller - I would imagine due to age. Apparently there is a mod on the Nexus, though I'm not sure how good it is. I believe the same can be said for DA:2

I've done this three times since patch and it worked fine. The Keep was down for a while but that was supposedly fixed and wasn't due to the patch.

Tbh, the controller was one of the best $50 I spent on my PC setup. The dongle that comes with it can support up to 4 controllers, so if you have a multi-player game, and more than one controller, you can play with friends.

Installation was a snap too. You plug it in - that is all.

You can bypass that requirement on Origin by switching to Offline, which is what I did.

On walking, I've heard that it's not automatically bound to any key. So you can go into your key mappings and set it. I've not done it myself, tho. And, I agree that it's less decorous to run around the palace... except that I was on the clock! LOL

*Facepalm*. Why didn't I think of that myself? Thank you! I have to try if I can create my own key for the walking mode.

Just as a side-thought regarding the PC version - I'm surprised more folks aren't using the controller. It doesn't really work well if you're playing at higher difficulties and need to use commands a lot, but it's awesome for playing on casual or normal. Walk or run as slowly or quickly as you want depending on how hard you push the stick. The controller vibrates too. The camera movement is so nice. Don't get me wrong, I use keyboard and mouse for a lot of games, but for this (and Skyrim), it's controller all the way!

P.S. - it also makes using flycam SO MUCH EASIER!

That's nice to hear but I don't want to spend money on a controller. Wait. I just found out that you can connect your Xbox controller to a PC, so I might try that.

Me too! Honestly, the comparison with Garrus makes me wuv Cully-Wully even more!  :D

I'm not completely happy with this one. I will play around later on tonight.

Drools in a corner. It's awesome.

I hear "calibration" and can't help but grin.

I know just what you mean. ME3, I would run down there at least once between every mission just to hear if he had something to say.

I would then get sad when it was just, "some other time," or something.

I knew I was a dork, and I didn't even care.

You will still need a wireless dongle to connect, which will cost you almost the full $50 anyways. I bought the package that just has the controller with it. And I get the added benefit of having another controller that I can use with my 360 as well.

*edit* I just found this for using a wired contoller. What's weird is that my old wired controllers are not USB so I'm not sure how you'd hook them up.

OK, and it's working for me now too (just checked). But between the patch and about 7PM CST last night, I tried several times, and kept getting a message that it couldn't find a custom state even though I could log into the Keep the last couple of times. The servers went down while I was playing last night. I kind of expected it to be unavailable right after the patch, just was worried when it continued so long.

Oh yes, I couldn't connect either. I just think the server must have been down. That wasn't patch-related.

Absurd as it may be, that gives me hope that Hawke will come out of there alive... Maybe with some extra powers and such :P

I just got this in DA2 and my jaw dropped! She was definitely not talking about the events in DA2...I totally didn't make the quest name connection though! Oh Hawke, you were doomed from act 1!!! :( but what if you pick your warden?! Is there another precipice?! I can't bear the thought, I love my snarky Ferelden :(

Maybe Hawke/Alistair/Stroud/Loghain survived in the same fashion that Divine Justinia did?  My guess is that "dying" in the Fade does some unusual things, whether a spirit takes their form, or their soul lives on in limbo, etc.

Well, wasn't that a hint-hint-nudge-nudge not to allow the Warden to take the leap? That Hawke is the one meant to take that leap? So much speculation....  Either way, I'm not letting Ali take on Blinky. Even Flemeth agrees :P

That's just what I wanted to hear :D I am not sure why, but out of all the DA games that I played, I got most attached to Hawke. If we could have romanced Cullen in DA 2, my life would be complete :P

I've never used a mouse and keyboard to play a game so I'm so glad they have the option to use a controller. In fact if they didn't I probably would've bought an XB1 instead of a PC to play the game on. And I agree that the controller works seamlessly with the game, and yeah I use it for Skyrim, too.

However, I'm sure for some folks using a controller would feel just as alien as using a mouse and keyboard does for me.

Oh, not for me; I had to find a YouTube video put together by a sixteen year old guy to walk me through step-by-step on how to install the stupid xbox 360 controller

That would be frustrating considering Hawke is the only DA PC I actually really care for! However, if it's revealed that he DOES survive and will appear in DA4, then I'll probably just reverse my decision via the Keep.

Been thinking about my favorite Bioware man next to Cullen and I was compelled to make a scholarly, in-depth venn diagram that compares the two.

venndiagram_zps003bbequ.jpg

(x)

..um, yea, i just love them..alot  totally half-arsed the other half of the diagram though

Don't forget that it takes them a few games before you can romance 'em.

Cullen's battlement romance reminds me of Faramir/Eowyn. Total win for me there too.

So they'd come out with some awesome power like the divine? That would worry me if it was Loghain...I mean he's not exactly the most benevolent of options...awesome power may, just maaaay, get to his head :P
