Whelp, Dell will be sending a technician to my house to replace my video card and fan. This is for the computer I bought in October, if you recall. Specifically for DAI. Of course, all the trouble started the night I downloaded DAI and it forced me to update my video card driver. Siiiigh.

Well, I know R2 has the exact same model as me and hers works perfectly. So I clearly just bought a lemon. But you could be onto something. They might just be in the habit of mass producing easily breakable machines. Still, I will say that mine didn't seem to SHIP broken; it broke the night I downloaded DAI. I partially blamed NVIDIA for that.. and possibly blame myself a bit since I'm so inept with PC gaming; I probably downloaded and installed the new drivers incorrectly. 

 

I have to say, it was not a pleasant afternoon, conversing via phone with a guy with very accented English; he was really nice and I was grateful for his help, but I had to say, "Excuse me, sir, what was that you said?" after every other sentence >.<

I think encouraging fun art is always fun. I hesitate to recommend a whole 'nother celebration so close to the page milestone, since we already have trouble getting folks to participate in those, as I've said. I'm just not sure our thread can sustain so many group activities, but then, folks are always engaged in something, creative as they are!

Even though my computer still randomly shuts down, I thought I'd try to play a little DAI since the tech guy did make it so I can actually see my desktop now. Well I started up Origin, downloaded the recommended update for DAI, but now every time I click "play," the game acts like it's going to start but then returns me to the desktop and Origin.

Downloaded an update for The Sims 4 via Origin and am able to play THAT GAME, so this is just a DAI thing. GAHHH THIS FRIGGING GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God this is such a joke. Someone reported the same thing happening on the Technical Support page and no moderator has responded in five hours.

 

Does anyone know how to uninstall a patch after installing it?

Unfortunately, the graphics apparently really are more demanding on the machines than other games out there. Alienwares don't usually have many problems, I'm told, as regular Dells.

 

I think someone said a day or two ago that it wasn't possible to uninstall the patches, but I'm not sure how reliable that is.

*sends a trillion virtual hugs and even more Fenris chibi* I would assume that you wouldn't lose any saved games, but I am only assuming so don't take my word for it. I really wish that you would be able to have a break when it comes to all of this drama.

I think it should only be until they replace your video card is my guess. You may be running with only partial use of that card or even default graphics (not a good explanation, but I'm not very good with hardware myself.) They didn't go to an extreme, but there are brand new, decent laptops still being sold that can't run it. To keep your saved games, you'd probably need to copy the save folders somewhere else then put them back after the reinstall, but I'm not the right person to explain that.

In nine's continuing adventures in finding the right pyjama retexture that makes it look less like a pyjama and more like real clothes (you can't wear armor all the time, I guess), I seem to have settled on the perfect one at last (here for fem humans, here for fem elves). Now to settle on the color.

I installed this one for a laugh, but actually really like it? It's an improvement on her tacky golden blouse, at least. Debating on whether to keep this one or not, but it's amusing me so far.

The only save I'm concerned about losing is the Cadash I created recently. Cause she looks so cool. I don't care about my first playthrough; it was not a pleasant experience lol

If you've been using online sync then I don't believe so. Also, I think when you uninstall the game via control panel, it will ask if you want to keep your saves. You could also move your save folder elsewhere to be safe.

 

P.S. - If it makes you feel better, I somehow managed to corrupt my game yesterday so that whenever I tried to take a screenshot it would crash. Just took me three hours to figure out. I re installed a bunch of crap only to find out I had to repair my game installation. Something must have gotten fubar'ed with the actual game. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all is well. I guess I can't complain with all the extra programs I have to run with the game in order to take these screenshots. It was only a matter of time before something got messed up.

I see. I should probably just take a deep breath and give up for the night. I really have a lot of negative feelings associated with this game at this point. I really don't know why my video card would suddenly break so drastically since I last played the game though (1/19).

I still like the Halamshiral Finery the most. I love the formal look of the original, but the alternate color.

Sorry if my nephew was here for college he could!! My hubby got for my bday earlier this month it's been worth the wait.!! I'll shout out to Andraste he get there tomorrow. Yeah, after having my own custom pc built I'll never be able to go back to just buying one off the rack. I was able to pick and choose everything I wanted, down to what case and fan combination I wanted.
