I've got about equal amounts of Hawkes who give Varric the fragment and who give Sandal the fragment, so I'll see it all. I'll probably keep it canon that Carver becomes a Warden, because I don't think this Hawke would go into the Deep Roads without him.
Please don't make me kill Carver, Bioware. Pretty, pretty please!
If Carver's a templar, I kinda hope Cullen's the one who puts in a good word for him, instead of Varric. That'd be a nice treat, I think.

Considering that Carver could join the Wardens and it appears we may be fighting them, maybe that's how we'd run into him again? I don't think it's the same for a Templar Carver though. Doesn't he leave with Hawke at the end of DA2?
Well, we know Alistair is still alive and friendly enough so at least we don't have to worry about having to fight him! So hears hoping that a Warden Carver will be with him, or somewhere safe. He's not a stupid kid and he's grown up a lot so I don't think he'd end up fighting for any of the enemies.

I was thinking the same thing...Maybe Carver assists the inquisitor in some way,if the wardens are indeed corrupted by someone/something then I don't think he'll want to be part of them or that particular corrupted group.Hopefully he won't be among them,since in my game Carver is a warden and I wouldn't like to kill him off in Inquisition.

Well....Stroud is the one who found him...and Stroud's an Orlesian Warden...damn, maybe we will see him after all.

Oooo, what if Carver's working alongside the GW companion that we're gonna get?
I know one of the writers (I can't remember if it was DG or someone else) said that Bethany was better suited going into the Circle and is subsequently happier there, and that Carver was meant more of the Wardens because it's something that Hawke has no business in at all and he's privy to GW secrets and feels important and equal to his brother/sister. It shows in the siblings dialogue, for sure.

I know they'll be mad at my Hawke but at least they have the option to be mad at him for many, many years.
I had the same dilemma too. The way I reasoned it was that if I made Carver a Templar then he'd end up lyrium addled in his later years and would've spent little to no time outside of the Order to live his own life. At least as a Warden he may only have 30ish years to live, but at least he'll be out and about in the world and the Grey Warden's are definitely more fun than the Templar Order!

I honestly don't think he knows half of what he's getting into.
That's what I'm hoping. Without his older sibling around, I think he'd be more likely to see right off that he's on the wrong side and help the Inquisition. If Carver went Templar, having Cullen around could prove useful to bringing him around. Same with Alistair and Carver, provided he hasn't been hanging with either the entire time anyway. But now I kind of long for a scene where Cullen or Al has to step up and pursuade Carver to see the corruption in his faction.Well, we know Alistair is still alive and friendly enough so at least we don't have to worry about having to fight him! I tweeted him and asked if he made a bet with someone that he could crash Twitter by asking those questions.
Yeah, I went for a shorter, purposeful life where he feels respected than a lifetime tinged with self-loathing. Not that I have too much of an issue with Templars on the whole, I see the need for an organisation who can deal with magic gone wrong but I think seeing his father and siblings were mages, it's a difficult career choice for Carver emotionally. I want him to feel heroic and have the women swoon because he's a Grey Warden in his own right.
Meh, I just like him.
