Alistair said that lyrium doesn't grant Templars their powers but only makes them stronger.

 

I just wish there wasn't that gigantic plot hole in DA: O where you could become a Templar and obviously not take lyrium. 
 
I also finished reading the comic series - I didn't find a spot where Ali actually says he started taking lyrium again, only that he started practicing his templar abilities again. Did I miss something?

Yes, they sorta retconned this. Alistair was wrong, you need lyrium to use templar abilities. He had to start taking it again in the comics so he could use his abilities. DG has also explicitly addressed this.

What this was supposed to say is DG says that a templar can use his abilities for some time after he stops taking lyrium, as evidenced by Alistair, altho eventually he'll lose them.

As to the cravings... dunno, but sounds plausible to me.

Wait, I'm so confused guys! Alistair was gonna be a templar but never finished the initiation...I don't think we know what a templar looks like on withdrawl, cullen would be our first

OMG this totally happens to me all the time. I work from home, but I'm in conference calls quite often. I leave my phone on the desk next to me and I forget to turn mute on. My text tone is R2-D2 and one time someone was like "Oh, hello R2!" Luckily he was a co-worker who also loves Star Wars!

Rather than comment in several posts, I'll just do it in this one.

 

On the Anders thing/being pursued by a LI: I wish that Bioware had kept instances where the LI flirted with your character, but it seemed that too many people complained about Anders taking the initiative in the first flirt. It was only time where he was the aggressor*in the flirting*, but it made it seem all the more real to me and even more steamy. Do you guys know if the majority of people were complaining about the Anders flirt, or was it the minority? I know the minority has to be represented...but...yeah.

 

I found Blackwall to be humorously easy, even more so than Iron Bull*who actually sleeps with you*. I mean really dude...I flirt with you twice and you think I am madly in love with you and then you show up in my room later, like a ninja might I add*which is cool...but creepy*.

 

And GE is so amazing! Although...now it feels kind of odd whenever I see something/someone mention him and then I think back to Orion...I still can't believe he looks like GE.

Dear Lord, the amount of sheer stupidity that was floating around about that Anders thing made me want to commit cold blooded murder. It was absolutely ridiculous. And it only had issues when Anders flirted with the male characters.

Well, now that I know that little piece of information my warden really needs to get back to his side! Not only so she can help rule Ferelden, but Ali-cat is getting screwed with the taint and lyrium addiction. BIOWARE...why did you do this to us, lol! MY warden would be with Alistair as much as she could and send some fools out to find the damn cure to the Calling.

I wanted to be able to read the comics on my tablet so I had to order them all separately. That was one $30 smack in the gut for like 30min of reading total! The pictures were really pretty though! And very nice to read on a tablet where you can zoom, etc!

 

I think I actually liked the idea of lyrium not being necessary and that the chantry just used it as a way to control them. That would have made more sense in explaining why Ali says he can use the abilities and not take it, and that the Warden can do the same thing...rather than the magical "hand wave."

Yeeah, it's tough to reconcile. I would have far preferred that to their current retcon. 

 

Um, Seekers don't use lyrium, so they're fine, you know, they're all fine here now. But they are "recruited from the best of the best of templars" and  still use the templar specialization. But it's not the same. All the perks, none of the drawbacks. :brushes hands: there you go!
