It was a big ugly deal. We definitely want to leave that sulfurous egg uncracked :)

And also Real Genius ones? :D

Lol, I'm sorry but every time I read or hear egg...I think Solas. I owe that little problem to the Solas thread.

Not to mention if your Warden was also a templar then she'll have the same problem!

I wanted to be able to read the comics on my tablet so I had to order them all separately. That was one $30 smack in the gut for like 30min of reading total! The pictures were really pretty though! And very nice to read on a tablet where you can zoom, etc!

I think I actually liked the idea of lyrium not being necessary and that the chantry just used it as a way to control them. That would have made more sense in explaining why Ali says he can use the abilities and not take it, and that the Warden can do the same thing...rather than the magical "hand wave."

Ah crap...Elissa is a templar....I'm done. I literally so done right now, lol! I headcanoned that during Alistair training her to become a templar, well that was where they kind of fell in love or realized that had feelings for one another rather than simply tension. *Wallows in a corner of shame and guilt* This is a day of rude awakenings for me, isn't it? Seriously, this is bringing back all the rage with how my Warden and Hawke are doing things they would most likely never do or would find another way to go about them.

I rarely ever read a book or comic on my tablet/kindle....I like holding the physical thing in my hands, lol.

Meh...I would comment on your third point, but I am too busy trying to figure out a happy ending for my Warden and Alistair. I'm also realizing that there isn't going to be a happy ending for them... :(

I hated that they turned Alastair into a liar about the Lyurim thing to make the Chantry look better, I kind wish they had kept the lyrium is not needed and the Chantry uses it as a means of control.

Okay, I just have to comment on this - this is one of the many many reasons I love the character of Cullen and it illustrates how they did such a good job crafting his personality.  Here you make a crack about needing to take a nap, and you'd think he'd be all business but he's right there going right along with the joke.  *sigh*

And I'm really sorry this isn't Cullen related but it's too good, in case you aren't on Tumblr. It's gaming related at least!

I'm all about the tablets now, and saving space. I have a cabinet full of books that I have no idea what to do with. I've been searching for The Walking Dead compendium in e-form to no avail. I have the physical copy but it's so derned hard to read! It's so huge that you can barely read the parts of each page near the binding.

That and I love love love the fanfic apps on the tablet!  :D

I like that they actually attack and/or call the guards on me if I just ignore them and chill in their house after I picked the lock on their door.  Though, my sneaky dark elf never had that problem.  I had so much fun just breaking into people's homes and stealing all their stuff, even though 90% of the time NPC's just had crap stored away.  It was the experience.

I am sorry...just reading through the posts here and I am super confused by all of them.  Let me see if I understand correctly (I am a list person, so bear with me).

1.  Alistair says he never took lyrium in DAO (cause he didn't take his final vows where, according to Cullen in DAI, is when you are given your first draft of lyrium).

2.  However, he can do all the Templar stuff throughout DAO and hypothesizes that lyrium is the way the chantry controls the templars and is not technically needed, expect to maybe make "blocking/draining mana" more effective."

3.  In DAO, he can train YOU to become a templar...without lyrium!  (unless the magic handwaving involves the fact that one of your missions is to be a lyrium smuggler, in which case maybe that is when you get your hands on some????)

4.  I have not read the comics, but it seems that King Alistair has started taking lyrium to get his templar abilities back...even though he never needed lyrium in the first place to use them.

5.  UNLESS...he was lying to you in DAO.  And you were doing something like a templar, but not really a templar (if you specked as a templar in that game).

6.  Magic handwaving occurs and now canon, according the the writers, is that templars MUST have lyrium to block/disrupt mana.

Is this correct?

If it IS, then I call shenanigans!!!!  That is major BS!!!!!!!!!  Seriously, it COMPLETELY screws up all kinds of canon stuff in my world.  And lotsa other people's as well.

I really should pick up that game again.  I haven't touched it in about six months. With ES games I always play as a man for some reason, Bioware games always female. Now back to Cullen:

Referencing that art posted earlier, will I get flayed alive if I say I just don't see Cullen and Dorian together? They don't fit personality wise.  I have no issue with the sexuality part of it, it just seems so - weird.  It's kind of like picturing Solas and Cullan together. Just my opinion.  I see so much fan art and fan fic of those two way more than Male IQ and Cullen.

FYI in case you were interested, ESO announced they are going "buy to play" in March. They will essentially have the same pay model as Guild Wars 2. Buy the game and then no sub-fee after that. I was a beta tester and gave them feedback that I wouldn't invest a dime into that game until they went to either a "buy to play" or "sub-only but free game" model. I'm glad they're going with "buy to play." I will be in Tamriel again in March...and will finally be able to play with my b/f!.

Of course, I highly doubt I'll be over the DA:I "itch" by then either...  :P

I don't see it either, honestly.  Just because they played chess together once and (potentially) got into a heated argument in the Chantry doesn't mean they're meant to be.  Though, to be fair, it's more believable than the Cullen/Anders shipping I stumbled upon while browsing Cullen fanart on deviantart.

EDIT: frak! I thought my phone did something weird.

What this was supposed to say is DG says that a templar can use his abilities for some time after he stops taking lyrium, as evidenced by Alistair, altho eventually he'll lose them.

As to the cravings... dunno, but sounds plausible to me.

Something that bothers me about Alistair's lyrium discrepancy, also, is that Cullen mentions in Haven that he didn't get his first philter of Lyrium till after his vigil and vows. I thought Alistair never took his vows? If the Chantry maintains such a tight hold on its Lyrium supply, how then did he get his hands on Lyrium in the first place? I was thinking it could have been part of their Templar training before their vows but what Cullen says about it debunks that notion, and since it's been established that Lyrium is needed for Templar abilities there's no logical time period for Alistair to have been trained in them in Inquisition's canon. Veeeery weird.

Maybe Alistair was a mischeivous boy and snuck Lyrium from the stores because he was curious...?

Psssssh I have quite a few bookcases which I call my "den" or "library", lol! I love technology, but I don't think I could ever really just stop reading a story in the physical copy. Besides you can't whack someone with a tablet without worrying that you might break it, with a book you can beat them a few times!

I don't know if I'm pi**** off, but I am extremely irked with this realization. It's probably funny for some people since they had this realization long ago, but this just incredibly annoying to me. I find out that what I thought could had been a happier for my favorite protag and character is basically a lie/figment of my imagination. I don't even want to write/finish up my Cullen story right now...I just need to chill for awhile.

Ha, WTF? I would believe Cullen/Male Hawke over Cullrian or Cullders, though, but just barely.  And yeah Dorian flirts with him, because of course he does, he has eyes!  But I don't see Dorian being attracted on a relationship level, or vice versa.  Now Iron Bull, I get.  I will ship people, I'm one of the ones that got caught up in Korrasami (and vindicated after being ridiculed about it, heh), but it has to make sense on a personality level for me.  Not just "oh look, here are two characters that I like, let me mush them together".

Yes, but no needs for itty bitty book light to read in bed! And then you can move from a book to Netflix in one fell swoop!  :D

Honestly, I'm totally plugged into the grid. Just give me the red pill now. It's so bad that I have to send my boss $20 for a baby gift and I have no idea how I'll manage since she doesn't have PayPal and I don't have a physical checkbook anymore!

It amazes me how oversensitive some people can be, complaining that the Inquisitor's advances when starting romance are too creepy or bordering on sexual harassment.

****, man... it's like they wish we lived in a world where nobody flirts with anyone. Better yet, if nobody made eye contact. It's ridiculous.

With that said, I'll admit the line about taking vows of celibacy was a little "Ey bby u want sum fuk??"

I try not to dwell on it because I don't want to fuel the already negative emotions swarming around the DA fandom, but I really don't like retconning. Like codices contradicting each other in the games, or changing someone's sexuality instead of adding a character that would fill that narrative need, or changing the rules of how something works like the lyrium.  And with DA it's worse because people continue to go back and play the earlier games. All forms of entertainment do it to a certain extent if there are ongoing components, but the nitpicker in me HATES it. I just try to focus on how much I enjoy the other aspects, which is a lot, but why can't they just stick with what they said and make it work into the story?
