Just chiming in and trying to say this delicately...my boyfriend actually described for me...in detail (he has a very scientific approach to things) what things feel like to a guy (I asked to him for writing purposes a long time ago).  It was actually pretty fascinating and not at all what I imagined (being a women). So...in my attempts at writing smut from a male's POV...I use his descriptions for...ummm...things.

I plan to post the smut chapters in my DAO fic at some point and I am so nervous about the comments....eek!  Maybe I should scratch it...

Mine was using medical terms while describing that & that detached expression... I felt like he was the science teacher teaching me in health class...

I understand the Mage/ Templar idea, just seems like most of them are female elf with him.

I am already working on it now :) Hope to have chapter one up in a day or so. She is a Warrior/Templar with a very tormented and rough past. She is definitely a woman who has been brutalized both mentally and physically and needs a man like Cullen to show her there is love. A lot of women have Demons in there past and I wanted a woman who kept fighting even when most wouldn't for so long.

I have posted my links for the first 2 with my Elf and him, so will post this one when I get it up :)

Do it

I'd love to read it anyway. I always write Mage/Templar (Dalish mage... or once Trevelyan mage) dynamic since it's my canon world state with my character, I already got all the base set. But it's really great to see other class' story.

And well, this is the reason everything went wrong in DA2...

qaJf6zG.jpg

Yay, 3 hours on and off, walking away from the computer to get a fresh eye on her, bugging MelissaGT, putsing around on here, and I said, okay moment of truth!

Cullen here I come!!

Aaaaaand my game directx CRASHED!!! DURING THE FIRST CUTSCENE! THREE HOURS!

anyone know if I can save her? :( *crying inside*

There should be an auto-save slot. Have a look here: C:\Users\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save . Maybe not all is lost.

And I hope everybody who lives in the blizzard area is save. Man, the storm even made it to the news in Germany.

Average sex scene.

"My leg is cramping!"

"Wait...can we stop for a second so I can get a drink of water?"

"I think you forgot to floss."

"Talk dirty?  You can't be serious..."

"While your stubble is sexy, it's chaffing the hell outta me."

"Crap, mom is calling."

You forgot the cat jumping up on the bed because someone forgot to put it out of the room, or the dog whining because it really needs to go out at that moment, or.. for those of us with children, the wonderful knock on the door with "Mom, I'm really thirsty! Mom, why is your door locked?"

Not to ruin this wonderful picture, but am I the only one who sees his blushing, her shocked surprise and his arm positions and isn't thinking that Cullen's taking this moment to surreptitiously cop a feel of her butt, to set her cheeks to maximum fluster-mode seconds before they walk back into the Ballroom?

I've never shared my fan fic esp my smutty stuff not that there is a lot of smut it's just they are all in my head and I always get all these ideas for plots and stuff and put them together into a fic. It's not that I'm afraid to share them or anything. It's just that I have a hard time writing things into the way I want them written. I keep telling myself that one day I'll get around to putting them down into notepad or something.

Yeah, I'm the same way. Quick little drabbles I can write in minutes if the muse inspires me, but writing something that I actually want to write and have been plotting for a while, gets the awful writer's block to descend.

HAHAHA...I love cats and the look on his face is so like the looks mine gives me sometimes when I am writing. I always think he is looking at me saying," stop typing and pet me woman...now! That Cullen crap can wait, but not me!"

Say, it's Valentine day soon. Are we going to do something for celebration or is it too close with the 5K?

I think if folks want to do something for V day, then go for it. But I don't think an organized thing is in the cards. The page 5000 is all we can sustain right now as a group; if that. Besides Valentine's Day not being everyone's fave holiday.

Yeah. The red lyrium Cullens are increasingly uncomfortable to see. They're beautifully executed... but disturbing.

Valentine's day seems more doable for me than the 5k celebration so that's my new goal for a video.  I also am the MOST disorganized person in the world and couldn't find my external hard drive so I can save my game recordings that are taking up a bunch of memory.  Bahhh... I had all my old pictures saved on that thing.  I hope it turns up eventually when I'm not searching for it.

Thank you, I aim to please ;)

I have been reading more stories since I am trying to write some myself and have noticed that most center on Dalish Mage/Cullen (which my first one was too, but that's more because she is the one I am playing right now). The ones that are with our lovely human Quizzy are almost all Mage too. I think my nest one will center on my female human Templar lady.

So why do you guys think it is? Or those who write, why do you chose that mating pair mostly? Just curious.

My only current fanfic is a Dalish rogue and Cullen, though it's a friendship fanfic. And she's Dalish because that background was the source of the original idea (i.e. a Dalish would miss hearing the children in a Dalish camp at places like Haven and Skyhold.) I don't play humans in fantasy games by choice (for me, the real fun of a fantasy RPG is to imagine yourself as something you could never be) except in the rare cases that there's something about their background that really intrigues me personally. The Trevelyan one does not; it doesn't even have the fun potential of putting your character on the throne that DAO did (which was the only reason I ran humans in it). I'm romancing Cullen in-game with a Dalish mage because I love the potential for them working through the different backgrounds and cultures to understand each other. If I romance him a second time, though, it'll probably be a Dalish warrior because it would give them a mindset and skillset in common. Why people seem to choose a Dalish mage to romantically pair with Cullen in fanfic, I think you'd find as many individual reasons as there are stories :P. But many if not most of the people who became fans of Cullen through the games fell in love with him as a female mage in DAO, I think. He's just a random Templar to everyone else in DAO, and has a rather aggressive introduction in DA2 that would probably leave a very negative impression with anyone who didn't recognize him from DAO.

That said, lots of people like playing a human for excellent reasons that just don't happen to be reasons that attract me personally. One is playing a self-insert, and obviously that's easiest with a human. Another seems to be to create and play someone, possibly a real person, who is conventionally beautiful, and again, that's easiest to do with a human. Some people are just uncomfortable trying to RP non-humans. All great ways to play an RPG, just not ones that apply to/interest me.

I enjoy playing elves and humans alike in these types of games. Both give you an opportunity to play as someone you could never be irl, even a human character. All of my characters are "self inserts" to some extent since all of them have a little piece of me in them. Even though I'm not a mage or a bamf templar or a sassy rogue irl, I can easily imagine what I might do if I were that person. So when I play characters in a game, I'm playing as myself. The only time I have a hard time doing this is when I try to play a male protag, which is probably why I almost never do. I hope that makes sense!

I first noticed Cullen's character while playing a mage origin in DA: O (who wouldn't!). I just didn't ship it. My canon warden is an Amell, but she's all about her Ali-Bear.  :P

I haven't found my "canon" IQ yet, but I can def say that she isn't a mage. I enjoyed playing through as one - that was my first playthrough, but I just love love love the dynamic you get with him as playing a warrior. Right now I'm leaning toward my Champ girlie as being canon. I haven't gotten far enough into my Templar run to weigh in on that one yet.

Oh wow, she is gorgeous! I wish I had a computer to play games on with all the amazing mods out there, especially her eyebrows...she is one of the prettiest humans I have seen so far.

Thanks! The only mod that you would really need to make her is the eyebrow pack from Shantia. Other than a really subtle eye liner texture and the brows, she's vanilla.

Indeed, I think folks write what they want to write for a variety of reasons, and I'd rather not generalize why fans do what they do.

As for when folks became Cullen fans, many became fans in DA:O, but many also became fans in DA2. Like myself. So I don't know if I'd generalize that "most" were enchanted by the Amell/Surana/Cullen dynamic.
