Oooweee that $37. I'll keep searching even though my captured moments might not be as glorious. Thanks!

I heard someone mentionned a freeware called Obs-something. This person made great videos with good quality apparently, I'll re-post the name of the software if I find it

I look at these pics (especially Melissa's) and I'm twirling my hair and smiling like an idiot. The brain is powerful!

A side note - from just having watched the videos, I keep seeing people say Cullen is from Honnleath, but he says he grew up near Honnleath.  That stuck out to me because of all the OMG did he play around Shale comments.

Yes, agree with Asperath and nine, that he's also introduced as being "of Honnleath" so I'm sure he's just part of that larger community instead of happening to pick the nearest large city so she knows what he's talking about. He just may not have been living in downtown Honnleath. But that doesn't mean he might not still be related somehow to Matthias... :P

Why not make one?

Since many are fanfic writers, it's a good idea. Or, you can just post things here like some people do ;)

A writing group could be a good idea since we should really stick to Cullen around these parts and writing doesn't always stick to one character (unless you're me, but I digress :P). There's a nice group about DA writing that used to be active on ff.net forums run by some really nice folks: Dragon Age Writers' Corner. There also may well be a thread already in the fan creations section of BSN. There used to be a really active thread focused on fanfic there, but I don't know if it has continued.

I have Fraps & I can tell you it's great. However, it's not free (around 25€?). There are free stuffs too but I don't know them. Lola & R2s adviced me to use Fraps.

One thing: Fraps videos are so space consuming, a 2 minute video was around 2 Gb.

A lot of folks use fraps, and depending on your uses,  you can make your filesizes smaller. The free version can do, what, 30 s videos, I think? I've also heard folks talking about shadowplay, which I also have but have never used.

I've been lurking forever but I was wondering if there's a Cullen writing group like there is a drawing group.

Excellent idea!

http://forum.bioware...ction-feedback/

If you want to post links or c and p for feedback, or just as a shameless plug.  Im not even picky....  just a dictator!  I HAVE THE POWER!!! MUAHAHA!   :D

I joined. Here's an idea: It could be more than just fanfiction feedback. It could be more like a writer's group with general tips and tutorials. "Fanfiction feedback" sounds very restricted IMHO but I'll go with whatever the majority wants.

Re. the nightmares, I've said this a few times before, but I thought she was pretty nonchalant about them in the bed scene. She immediately asks "bad dreams?" instead of asking what's wrong, and if you pick the middle dialogue option she says "despite the bad dreams, is it still a good morning?" like it's such a common and inevitable part of waking up with him that it's not worth lingering on. She does a little jump at the beginning of the scene, but to me it looks like she was trying not to startle him and then got a little startled herself by his sudden trashing.

On the first time versus not, though... Brienne has said that whether it was their first time or not was left deliberately vague (like many other aspects of their relationship) so everyone could see it as they prefer, so this is probably best left to each person's headcanon. There are reasons to think it wasn't, but some players prefer to think it was and their reasons are good too... I've even seen a compelling argument for an asexual relationship between Cullen and IQ, and the game is vague enough to acommodate even that headcanon, if that's what you wanna see, so. Every interpretation is valid, it's all in how each of us prefers to see things.

I totally agree with this. First of all, I think that the IQ really didn't want to startle Cullen and that she tried to make it easier for him. I also agree that many aspects of their relationship are up for interpretation. And their is no right or wrong way of doing this.

Maybe something like the "Cullenite drawing group"? Where everyone can post their works, get feedback & tips for improvement (if any), compiling ressources, beta one another?

N00b question, but what's a good video capture application I can use for my new playthrough? ls Is it that cinematic tool thing? I hope this playthrough works well, banter and all!!!
And I found the yt vid for romancing both solas and cullen! I'm sure its from someone on here so thank you for the walk through on there too!!

I use MSI Afterburner for taking screenshots and recording videos that I use in my fan videos and it's free :)

Did you happen to stumble upon my video on YouTube?  Lol.  If so, then you're welcome XD

Yesss...! Thank you! Has anyone ever figured out how to triage in blackwall too? If I can get solas to bug out, and then smooch blackwall, and then dump him judgment time, and then finish strong with cullen...would looooove! (Evil I know, players gotta play play play.... :))

I've been headcanoning that Cullen's family has a farm, mostly because of this post on Tumblr where someone flycammed themselves into the bookshelves in his room at Skyhold and saw this:

tumblr_inline_ni7yj4PJy41sarj67.png

They did some more research and found this!

Spoiler

A "domestic economy" book. Cookery!  Pickling!! glorious. I'm thinking he's of modest origins and that being aware of the practical necessities of daily life is something important to him because he likely had to help out as a child. I feel like these things would very much a part of what family means to him. Precious Cully cooking. Awwwwwwww

I personally use the free version of Bandicam they offer, it leaves a watermark along the top inch-ish of the screen but it's easily croppable. They'll only let you record 10 minutes at a time with the free version, but since I record my video for the purpose of giffing it's not a bit deal. A 1:09 length video was 44 MB for me, so it's a little smaller than what you'd get with Fraps (which I've tried, too).

My latest Lavellan just arrived at Skyhold and I was going to "test the waters" so to speak.. and see who all she can romance at the same time.

That's pretty much what I was trying to say, though you said it much more clearly. Since it isn't something that's going to have any impact on the main storyline, I love that they've left it open so your individual inquisitor can move at the pace with Cullen that makes her comfortable. What one person does in their PT doesn't make any difference to someone else's PT. As for Cullen himself, I can imagine him reacting differently based on the personality of the IQ. I could see him moving far more slowly with a relatively young and shy IQ than with one who was older and direct and invited him to her room not long after the first kiss. I'm not sure there is any other practical way to leave the timing to players, and honestly, I'm not wild about any romance where the LI asks for the first time, and if you say no, the romance is off.

Yep. I sure do.

Do you use the same settings the gentleman suggested in the video? Or did you have to adjust them further?

It really depends on the scene and what you are trying to do with it. Each situation is different. I would play around with the various settings to see what you get.

If you have a newer NVIDIA GPU then Shadowplay is phenomenal. It's free and from what I've heard has less of an impact on fps than other active programs like fraps, in that it actually has no impact...at least I haven't noticed one. Also, depending on your graphical capabilities you can change your file size. I am able to record 1080p video at ~60fps with all graphics settings at max along with 4X MSAA.

*edit* Sorry, will use multi-quote going forward.

I used Shadowplay before I switched over to MSI Afterburner.  It didn't cause a performance drop in my game, but the videos recorded when I played them back stuttered, so I stopped using it.

Hi all!  Just had an epiphany for a Cullen poem for the 5k celebration!  Woke up at 7am and started typing and I think it is pretty good!  So quick question....for the 5k page, should I post it on AO3 and provide a link or should I just post it on the page under a spoiler tag?  Ie, do folks post poetry on AO3, or is that weird?  Thanks!

Agreed!  I wih there was a way to play hard to get a little in these games, though I imagine it would be almost impossible to implement.  I want to be pursued! LOL!  But then again, in DAO, you have the option to be more hesitant with Alistair and he keeps coming back with reasons why you should do it now (ie, the "here in camp" scene).  Maybe that is why he was so endearing.  I like to play as a less aggressive character in romances, and enjoy the slow burn. FemShep was a bit much, especially when she hitting on Jacob (yech, gives me the willys...)

I haven't had any issues with stuttering. I was actually really surprised at the quality when playing them back. If only Youtube didn't compress them so much...but I imagine that happens no matter what program you use.

I just like that I can hit F10 and see the little green button pop up and it's recording. Hit it again and it stops. So easy and no extra programs to turn on first.

I do use Afterburner for custom fan profiles. I will try a side-by-side comparison with the video recording later to see which one I like better.

Have a Cullen for OT:

And newest shot of his soon-to-be lady, Rhiannon - she got to Skyhold last night!

Yeah but would be ironically grammatically incorrect  "Cullenite's" denotes possession by a single Cullenite. Might prefer "Cullenites' Writing Group" or simply "Cullenite Writing Group."

I just want to say that it is now officially part of my headcanon that Cullen and Matthias are cousins by their mothers, and that makes crazy old nutso Wilhelm his uncle and cute little Amelia his niece and that is all both adorable and terrifying, and it is all your fault.

(Also makes the other part of my headcanons, that Cullen grew up on stories of the war, that much better. Imagine Wilhelm telling wild tales of raining fire down on the Orlesians while Shale punched everyone in the face and the King cut them traitors down from his might steed, and weebie little Mia and Cullen listening in, all wide-eyed and impressionable. Heeee.)

I'd say it depends on how long it is... and whether you want BSN to potentially bork the formatting. If it's not an epic poem, posting it 'as is' on the page is probably fine. I have seen poetry on ff.n and ao3, so posting it in either I'd say is also fine! And would give you more visibility.
