You guys - I'm listening to a playlist and Adele's "Someone Like You" just came on and damn, that's a perfect song for anyone who ships Cullen and Warden Amell, it could work from either perspective - if Cullen is still pining for an Amell that ends up with Alistair, or if Amell doesn't end up with Alistair and Cullen ends up with the IQ. I may be late to that conclusion.

I never wanted a polyamory mod more *g*. Ah, I have my mind in the gutter today  .  Time for bed.

My perfect song for AmellxCullen's reunion from Cullen's perspective is tied between Kiss from a Rose, by Seal, and Drops of Jupiter, by Train:

Drops of Jupiter because it is a man singing of a woman who leaves to far off places in search of herself and of greater things (which I think parallels well to how Irving encourages Amell/Surana to join the Wardens because he knew she was destined for greatness) and of the singer wondering if she'd "fallen for a shooting star" who doesn't have a "permanent scar". (Alistair, for some people. *cough*) Also, as much as I do love Cullen's dutifulness -  "I'm afraid that she might think of me as plain ol' Jane/Told a story about a man who was too afraid to fly so he never did land" - feels like it could refer to Cullen's old fear of deviating from the Chantrys/his superior's teachings.

 

And then Kiss from a Rose is for after their love has been rekindled. The lyrics speak for themselves, really:

MelissaGT!  Went on your tumblar page to admire Alistair shots, and man...your graveyard shots are spectacular!!!  I am a fan of graveyards...in college, as part of my social geography minor, I examined the cultural significance of graveyards. I think I titled it something like "the Tombstone Touchstone" or something that sounded catchy to me at the time.  When i turned the thesis in, I had taken this beautiful picture of a tombstone from one of the oldest graveyards I visited.  It was an angel, missing the tip of it's wing, with snow falling.  It was one of the only decent photographs I have ever taken.  No idea where it's at now, but I think you would approve!!

As much as I still ship the Warden mage with Alistair to the end of days and Cullen with the IQ, I can see how romantic and appealing the Cullen/Amell pairing could be (or Cullen/mage elf, can't remember her name).  This is of course, in my mind, in a situation where Cullen never ends up with the IQ - I don't personally like the idea of him pining for the Warden while with Quizzy.

It has that forbidden fruit quality that is irresistible.  Seriously, the Amell/Cullen smut I've read has really...went places.    

Lucky for me, Cousland is my canon, so it's Alistair all the way with no distractions...well, except for Ser Gilmore (those damned redheads get me every time).

I haven't seen that armor in game, or several of the others in SSs, but I just realized you must have gotten that set pretty early. I'm starting to wonder if the armor drops in mine are glitched; I seem to get the same 3 or 4 basic sets over and over. Or is that crafted armor? I've been rather leery of purchasing patterns since I spent quite a bit on one pattern, then got back to Skyhold to make it and discovered it was human only (but hadn't said that in the text when I bought it because I looked.) Well, that and discovering how truly horrifying some of the mage armor can look to get the stats you want with the mats you have (ring velvet and plaid just do not go together, lol.)

I then made a custom version of it and that's it. I believe the operation was something about a chantry sister who had been spouting lies about the Inquisition, I chose Leliana to handle it and I got the previously stated schematic.

 

Oh I know about the struggle with mage armor and armor requirements. I'm just glad that I was able to get Halinia*my first completed IQ* in an armor that looked like Merrill's armor in DA2.

I definitely agree with this, though. I felt like the way he sort of brushed off Tranquils/the idea of Tranquility as a mercy was unsettling, but I chalked it up to ignorance. I forget exactly what he said, but I remember not liking the tone he used when he said he'd been around Tranquils all his life but has no idea what might be going through their minds.

 

It seems this is one area in which he hasn't come very far since Kirkwall. I still remember his reaction when told of the "Tranquil solution"; my mage!Hawke began backing away verrrrry slowly, thinking, "Okay, I guess this guy isn't entirely off the crazy train after all." He and my mage!Trevelyan definitely have some serious discussions on the subject.

Ah, that explains it. The Orlesian armor is race gated to humans only, I think (as is some Templar armor I picked up recently too, sigh), and I don't craft the custom stuff for my companions much, especially since my Dalish warrior is often the only warrior on her team. So that's armor I'll probably never see, lol. Oh, well, my dwarves will have Legion of the Dead armor, which I love, but I don't think I can get the patterns until Hissing Wastes.

One of the best photos I've ever taken as an amateur was of a graveyard in New Orleans.  It's currently framed.  The subject matter makes it easy though.

I thinks a story is in store for Cullen on the tranquil thing, as the chantry forced the mage inquisitor or warden into a tranquil and he has to deal with this issuse in his own way.

He really did brush it off with the tranquil solution, since it would have been a great topic to get a templars views on it, since we might see it as a barbaric practice. I wanted to point out that this also can be considered blood magic in away. Like the phylacteries

I can totally understand class restricted armor, and a few race gated armors as well. Such as the Dalish Keeper armor set and stuff like that, but I wish there was no race gated armor. Lol, well if you ever do simply want to see what it would look on a companion. I would suggest Cassandra since it makes Blackwall look like an emaciated old man. The Legion of the Dead armor is close to 10k I believe, so have fun shelling out that gold. It always makes me cringe when I buy such expensive things in DA:I...even though I do have over 50k of legit gold.

I noticed that watching some flycam vids - it's hilarious when the NPC is saying something with a lot of passion and then when it's your turn to speak, their expression goes blank.
 
Also your comment about the two scruffs - Alistair's looks much softer, and Cullen's much coarser. I'm seeing Cullen's rough scruff being put to good use in some smut fanfic...

I've been trying to find flycam vids but haven't had much success, would you mind pointing me in the direction of where you found yours?

And to remain slightly on topic, I'm not generally a big fan of scruff on a man. Sure, it can look good, but it's like kissing rough sandpaper. >_- *ow* Fictional men tend to be exempt though.

Yeah but they did not know this at the time, and I hated the fact it could be cured because the retacon it by trying to paint the practice as a morally grey issuse.

Yes, that's the one that gets me most too. There's something in his expression that's very intense and thoughtful and determined; the maturity and, I dunno, experience that he hasn't let sour him? that DAO Alistair hadn't acquired yet.

I know. For me, there are lots of angles where he looks a little different. But that one is pure Alistair to me. *sigh* Ah, my first Dragon Age love.

That's an interesting conversation with Cullen in DA2, because that was back when he makes a marked point, all throughout that Act, to not tell you what *he* thinks. Most of his comments, including on the Tranquil Solution, are on what "people" think and what the common opinion is. He was so caught up in the Templar Order PR tapdance on so many of those topics. It's such a breath of fresh air for him to be able to tell us what he actually thinks in DA:I.
