Console patch is live today.  I don't know if I'll have time to play today, but I'm pretty excited about banter being fixed.

http://forum.bioware...latforms-feb-4/

... or not fixed, as the case may be... <_< I'm honestly still leery, and haven't patched my PC version yet. Good luck!

I like this one especially for some reason! ;) :D

That one is amazing! I was also wondering if that was you! Good to know.

Sorry for an OT question, but I've been thinking about commissioning some work and I have no idea where to start. Have a lot of you guys commissioned work before? I found an artist I really love and was checking out prices and I almost had a heart attack when I saw how expensive it is....like $1,000+ for two characters from the waist up.

After I saw the price I was like NOPE. In general, is that a normal price? I understand that's how artists make their livelihood, but that's a lot of money to invest.

Agree with everything everyone else has said. You can get good fanart comissions from tens of dollars up to $100-ish, depending on how complicated it is (usu how many people, w/wo background, etc).

The bioware fan group on devart  always has a commission database, which is also a good place to find someone. Agregor, for ex, is currently open for  commissions... *sigh* so I was looking at her prices just  yesterday ( a more complicated two person piece is about 70euro).

Hope you doggie is well. xx. I have two black labs.

Thanks - he's doing well so far. He's only 9 months old and had the weirdest most embarrassing problem. We had to get referred to a specialist since it's apparently very rare. It's called a urethral prolapse...google it. It's really what it sounds like.

The worst part of it is that the surgery only has a 75% success rate. So far the doc things all is healing well.

He's an Olde English Bulldogge (OEB).

And to bring Cullen back in - I'm so anxious to hit Abyss tonight with Rhiannon!

Okay guys. I want to portray this accurately, but it's hard since I haven't played through the romance. I don't want to watch YT videos because I don't want to spoil myself. But maybe y'all can answer some brief, vague questions.

1. Does Cullen make the first move? Or does the inquisitor?

2. Is he shy or reluctant at first?

3. Anything else you can tell me to make their first encounter seem authentic? And by "encounter" I mean simple admission of feelings.

OK, fellow Cullen fans....

We all know two nobles gossip about your Cullen romance in the main hall depending on which interval of the romance you are in. Thus I took the time out over the course of my current game play and uploaded their conversations with information on how to trigger it. I heard these nobles conversations change depending on who you romance, dunno if that is true or not, but here is ALL the Nobles Gossip about romancing Cullen.

(FYI these are raw videos and unedited)

Here are the first two. More coming! :D

1. The inquisitor.

2. Yes, a little unsure given his position and the fact it is the inquisitor, but he has thought what it would be like.

3. Will have to have a think about that one, possibly others might be able to expand on that better than I.

@ Artemis:

1.  If we are talking about their first kiss  then it's actually Cullen who kisses the IQ but he needs a little push first. If we are talking about being generally flirty or about initiating the dialogue that leads to their first kiss then it's the IQ.

2. He seems to be a bit nervous and not exactly in his comfort zone.

3. Cullen always puts his duty first so his feeling for the IQ might make his job more complicated. Not sure if that was what you are looking for...

Edited to add

1. The Inquisitor. However Cullen does innate the first kiss and smexy time.

2. Cullen is unsure. Mostly because they are at War and your character is the Inquisitor. Aside from the events playing out, Cullen is also unsure if he wants someone in his life right now. As he says, "He was not expecting to find that here or you (your Inquisitor). As the romance progresses Cullen becomes more sure and before smexy time finally allows his feelings to wash away any remaining uncertainties and asks for a future with your Inquisitor.

3. Uh. That a bit complicated. Are we speaking in terms of head-cannon or in game? In the game at Haven you mostly express your interest in him. When you arrive at Skyhold Cullen shows he has feelings for your character. Thus later he admits and submits to them by kissing your character passionately. <swoons>

Wow, these are fascinating. It reminds me how much of his story is gated behind options many of us never took. His thoughts on loyalty are insightful. (and, um relevant to my interests... <_<)

AO3 is far more forgiving of sex, particularly full on smut. But there's also sex on ff.n, so long as you use the M rating. If it's not full on pr0n PWP, then ff.n is fine.

Besides that, the tags are more organized on ff.n, and more freeform on AO3. You can tag for story elements for example, as well as triggers and warnings on AO3. For many, ff.n is easier to browse and has higher readership, altho AO3 has grown significantly, particularly in the DA genre. Some folks just use both (like me).

Other options are: tumblr, altho it's not designed for fic; devart, altho the fic is far far outweighed by art; livejournal; dreamwidth.

Thank you for the info - what is the deal with tags?

Wow, thanks guys!! That's more and better than I'd hoped for! And it works out very well... just the way I was hoping  I was already going to write my inquisitor being the pushy one. I'm glad that's canon :D

Usually artists bill based on [ the time they expect a piece to take ] x [ paying themselves what they feel is a fair hourly wage for their demand / experience level ], so I wouldn't recommend asking to haggle. Definitely second the recommendation to ask even if someone doesn't have rates posted, though!

Yep~ ^

I've never done commissions before and I'm not in school for art so I'm not entirely sure, but I think highly rendered/three dimensional paintings can take upwards of 11-30 hours of work depending on the level of detail. Perhaps faster if the artist is skilled. (For example, like sandara's work, maybe?) I've seen professional artists charge up to $800 for a single piece, and if they've received formal training I doubt they'd settle for minimum hourly wage, either. It all depends, but time is most definitely a factor.

Sorry, this is so random and not having anything to do with Cullen. But you know those stone column thingies that are everywhere, like the ones along the coast on the Storm Coast for example, I didn't think such a thing existed in real life but it does! Just google Giant's Causeway.  Now I really want to go there.

Mmm I wouldn't say 'canon.' Far from it going by the romance in game (meaning who kisses first). But that being said, I think it's totally situation dependent. So if it works for your story, go for it.

I was listening to this soundtrack earlier and of course my brain went to Cullen and the IQ when this song came on (especially with the "hand" stuff) - and then I started imagining a schmaltzy romance video - I might just do it if I ever get all of the romance scenes recorded! Not sure what's gotten into me lately. (sorry can't get this to embed)

2. He's very very shy. And as awkward as Aveline.

Spoiler

3. (this is one of the possible ways of playing his romance): if you do his Perseverance quest first, that's one of the reason he's not doing the first move. Which, IMO, a very understandable one.

I just mean key words for how you can characterize your story. On ff.n,  you can designate the genre (which I think is kinda useless) and the characters and the pariring and the DA world (which game, books, etc). But on AO3, you can also add key words for triggers, or warnings or themes, "food porn" "UST" "AU" "Modern AU" whatever you want, because it's freeform.

edit for ToP: Cullen being assertive. :D

Got a war table banter I hadn't heard yet:

Josephine: It's a bit cold in here. Don't you think?

Leliana: We are in the mountains.

Cullen: I'm more concerned about everything scattering when there's a draft.

Maybe if he fixed that hole on his roof, his things wouldn't scatter so often. :P

Wait, what? I'm confused now.  The others said it was the inquisitor who makes her feelings known first, and that Cullen is reluctant at first to pursue the relationship. Is that not true?

Does anyone ever have a secret wish to lure him out of Skyhold & do reparation while he's not there? No? Just me?

Well, falling asleep together with my loved one under the open sky on the mountain (camping!!) is one of the most romantic thing I've ever done in my life so I won't say anything but Cullen will get pneumonia one of this day

Well... he did do some "moves" that I interpreted as active flirt of his part when we're at skyhold... But that might imply my skewed personal interpretation so... in any case IIRC mechanically Cullen won't do the first move like Anders or Alistair.
