Where else would he have gone if he hadn't stayed in Kirkwall to take over after Meredith?  Also how long was Cass actually looking for Hawke?

Not too long. Mages rebelled in 9:40, and Cass came to Kirkwall in 9:40, so Justinia probably dispatched both her and Leliana not too long after Lambert annulled the Accords.

Maddox calls him that in a pro-templar Hawke import also; I think he just hasn't seen him since Meredith died.

I don't know if Weekes has said anything about it but one of Gaider's last tumblr posts was about how he doesn't ever intend to discuss it.

Ah, cool! Good to know on Maddox. And, yeah, I'm not sure if Patrick was even on the writing team yet when the expansion stuff was happening.

Where else would he have gone if he hadn't stayed in Kirkwall to take over after Meredith?  Also how long was Cass actually looking for Hawke?

Who knows. There was never any guarantee he would've taken over for Meredith after the things he did, convenient scapegoats being what they are. But if he was just in his normal post in Kirkwall, being that prominent and easy to find... then Cass should've asked him what happened with Hawke. Esp since they're part of the same chain of command. The fact that she was so clueless about Kirkwall is, to me, a big gaping hole in the direction they chose. Something I've rambled on about in the past ad nauseum.

the form is [*img]http://direct link to the image ending in.jpg [/img*] but remove the asterixes in the img tags.

photobucket's automatic click and paste can be mucked up if you have it set to posting images in their original resolution, because it will append the word: ~original at the end of the URL. If photobucket does that, you just delete the "~original" part past the .jpg or .png or whatever.

Altho... heh heh, there are codices in the game that muck this up again, for example, Cass's letter to the new Lord Seeker is dated 9:39. :painful eyeroll: But, I still think the WoT timeline stands, with Nevarran Accord ending in 9:40 followed by Cass interrogation of Varric in same year.

It should not be this difficult for them to keep the timeline straight.

Ok we will see if this works...ugh technology...

If it works, I did this real quick in the morning after breaking a mirror. I kinda was thinking the whole lyrium chain would shatter him, so that"s what I got. My scanner is packed since we will be moving soon, so its done with a camera. Not the best, but it will have to do for now.

Sorry but I was not convinced this was the year, thus I did some "digging."

Mages Rebelled in Kirkwall in 9:37

Cassandra was sent to Kirkwall in 9:40.

But here is where it starts to get...weird.

After Cassandra was sent to Kirkwall, Asunder happens, AKA the Circles of Magi disband, along with The Templars and Seekers- The Neveran Accord.

But this would not make sense. Because Lilly was shown in DA2 to be with Cassandra, yet in the book, Asunder, Lilly is in helping the Divine. So what? Did Lilly arrive with Cassandra in Kirkwall then did a "superman" back to Orlais?

At any rate, the rebellion breaking out in 9:37 does make sense, since Cullen was trying to restore order with the remaining Templars for the past few years. Thus he was doing this for three years before Cassandra arrived.

Wait, how is he fighting a Grey Warden? Or did I miss something...

This was already answered, but just confirming that it's during the run to the Temple of Mythal. He's usually fighting Red Templars and Wardens in my playthroughs.

You get that scene after you judge Samson If you completed Cullen's inner circle quest an option will come up While judging Samson use the Maddox respected you option after that select the option Cullen will question you after that you talk to cullen you will get the knife throwing scene. It happens after Arbor Wilds there will be a wartable mission to bring samson to skyhold for judgement

I dunno if you get that scene if you don't complete Cullen's before the dawn quest inner circle quest as I've not tried it without skipping Before The Dawn

You can also get the knife throwing scene if you send Samson back to Kirkwall, if you don't feel like having Cullen question him.

Um, Elu means the actual mage rebellion, which did not start until after the events of Asunder in 9:40.  Anders did his thing in Kirkwall in 9:37, but that was just the initial spark the caused the Circles to crack down and led to further unrest, as described in Asunder. Asunder ends with the Nevarran Accord being broken in 9:40, as per Lambert's date on his letter to Divine breaking it, and that's when the templar host marches on Andoral's Reach to engage the mage rebellion. This is consistent with the World of Thedas timeline, which ... overrides some mistakes in the Asunder text that refer to Anders blowing up the Chantry "a year ago" (instead of "three-ish years ago" like it should have said).

When Cassandra interrogates Varric, Varric references the templars splitting from the Chantry, aka the Accord being broken, therefore the interrogation happens after that. Moreover, this is also consistent with the World of Thedas timeline order.

So, yes, Cullen was serving as Commander of Kirkwall for about three years. Leliana was serving Justinia starting in 9:34, when Justinia ascended as Divine, until Justinia's death in 9:41. Cassandra presumably wasn't sent to find Hawke and start the proto-Inquisition until after the Nevarran Accord was broken in 9:40 (and so after all the events of Asunder).

I may be going cuckoo, but I swear somebody said on here that it wasn't possible to start Cullen's romance before Into The Abyss? Did I dream that? In case there is any doubt, that isn't true.  I've started the romance shortly after arriving in Skyhold, just had to leave and come back a couple of times to trigger Preseverance and the chess scene, now I'm about to do Wicked Eyes/Wicked Hearts before I start Find The Warden/Into the Abyss.  If nobody said that, then ignore me. So hopefully I will get my dreamy Cullen dance and get the

Spoiler
and I can die happy.

Speaking of WE/WH, has anyone done that below the recommended level of 12? I'm level 10 playing on normal and I'm thinking about giving it a shot.

Cullen's romance can always be triggered before Abyss or Wicked Hearts. All you have to do is get through the chess scene and get to the point of being able to talk about the relationship.

I always do Wicked Eyes around level 10 and never have any problems on normal up to the point of fighting Florianne. I always find myself with no health potions after the fade rift scene and haven't come across a refill after that. If you plan to keep her alive, then you should be fine. Myself, I usually side with Gaspard, so I have to fight her...and it stinks.

You're probably confusing it with the route to delaying the romance until after Perseverance? You can't start Perseverance until after doing either Wicked or Abyss, so if you want to start the romance only after completing the lyrium chain, you have to advance the MQ through at least one of those first.

Otherwise, it's possible to speedrun yourself into Cullen's romance as soon as you hit Skyhold, only zoning in and out of the keep once to move Cullen into his tower. The only issue with that is burning through the romance content too fast and ending up with long dry spells of no romantic interaction other than the woo-breaks, but if you're speedrunning this playthrough you shouldn't notice it too much.

Hope you have better luck with getting that Alistair/Morrigan convo, by the way. I tried that on my current playthrough too, and like everyone else in the thread, wasn't able to reproduce it either. Seems like the only sure way to get this convo is to edit the broken plot flag on the save editor like FluffyNinjaLlamma did for her video.

Soo....I am planning on playing through as a "bad guy"...for science!!

The problem is, in this game, it seems like going "renegade" really isn't possible, since all decisions have their own merit (ie, not many clear bad guy choices)

So I thought I might take the approach of just being straight up power hungry and out for myself.

Go to Redcliffe, meet Dorian, but decide to side with Templars instead (which should make Dorian and Solas upset)

Conscript templars (to make Varric and Cass angry).

Make Cullen take lyrium (with no promise of cure later...eg, to serve the Inquisition)

Encourage Leliana to be psycho

Tell Cass the Seekers are crap? - I am not sure if this gets her angry or what happens..

Get the Sarnia demon to give me a boon instead of fighting him.

Be mean in general to everyone - excpet maybe Vivienne...play up the power hungry thing...

Wicked hearts - side with Gaspard and let Celene be killed

Abyss - send the Grey Wardens away? - not sure what gets the most dissaproval from the most people on that one...

Temple - kill the elves, drink from the thing, don't do the tile rituals

Be generally nasty to everyone...

Will this route get me punching scenes?  Any other advice for how to play a power hungry renegade?  Is there a list somewhere?

And note, I realize that some of these are perfectly valid decisions with their own merits...what I am going for is maximizing diassaproval from all party members, trying to get some punches in, get them to basically fear and hate me as much as possible. Any help would be great!

That's probably it. At this point it's pretty much as speed run, just trying out different outcomes. I don't really care about parsing out the romance (I'll still enjoy it obviously) or I could head canon it like "we almost died, what are we waiting for."  Well if I don't get that scene I can just watch FNL's video.

Ah,  Joffrey Baratheon playthrough?

The only one I can comment on is Dorian  - you don't get disapproval from him on that because at that point he isn't on your team yet. I just went through this a couple of hours ago and he's being perfectly pleasant and asks to join the Inquisition even though I didn't help him (which he does mention but not in a nasty way).  You'll have to work to ****** him off in other ways - if you're a Mage you can make people tranquil (with the Arcane perk I believe) and he REALLY hates that. He almost left in my game once because I made Alexius tranquil.

Oh and try not to do the "little people" quests or anything helpful like most of the Hinterlands stuff, because that garners approval from Blackwall and Cole (and sometimes Solas).

I can't take credit - saw someone on the internet use that for a renegade IQ. Timebean should totally make a guy in the CC that looks like him.  Too bad you can't go around saying "YOU ARE ADDRESSING THE HERALD OF ANDRASTE, YOU WILL KNEEL!".
