Well here's a silly thing: my latest failed attempt at removing the fluffies from Cullen's armor turned into... snowman Cullen? Maybe this is what happens when it snows over the hole in his roof.

Just wanted to say that I'm still here! I just can't bring myself to play through Inquisition again. Sometimes I wonder why I bought it, and then I remember Cullen's romance, and I have to say that it was worth it, just for that. But I still can't play it again... Not until they fix some things.

If I was actually an artist then I would draw the picture I have in my mind, but I can't even make stick figures correctly. Somehow my stick figures look chunky...don't ask me how I do that, lol. I suppose if this armor was black and much more fitted...I suppose it could illustrate what my thought was.

He does have quarters.

That's what he tells the Inquisitor when she expresses horror at his sleeping arrangements ("You can't seriously sleep here, Cullen, there's a bloody tree in the roof!").  And it's true; Josephine gave him quarters in the north wing, same as herself and Leliana and the rest of the inner circle (sans Sera, because she prefers the tavern, and Cole, because he doesn't sleep.)  

It's just that he doesn't sleep there.

Oh he'd tried, the first week or so after Josephine assigned them to him, but it hadn't taken long for them to feel suffocating. The thick stone walls, the lone, narrow window, the lack of air; it was too much like his old templar quarters, and his sleep had suffered as a result.  He'd jerk awake in the middle of the night from dreadful dreams and it would take far too long to remember that this was Skyhold, not Kinloch, not the Gallows; and there were no abominations outside to torment him or atrocities to follow him with accusing eyes.  He could never go back to sleep, afterwards.

Bunking down above his office didn't exactly make the nightmares go away, but the cold, sharp air and the sound of battlement patrols felt like Haven and reminded him he was a soldier now, not a templar.  It made the divide between waking and dreaming sharper.  He slept easier.

When he eventually moved into her tower, he slept even better again.

 

I know, right?

 

The lone walk back to his own tower seemed particularly wearisome.  He was only now becoming aware of the lancinating joint pains that portended an attack.  Perhaps he had pushed himself a little too far with the Inquisitor.  He was not looking forward to the two-storey ladder-climb to his bed, but the night-sweats had been near-unbearable of late and the open ceiling in his bedchamber served to both cool his dream-fevers and give him a view of the stars, reassurance that the sky remained in its proper place when he felt it pressing down upon him.

Well, the good news is that I've finally succeeded in getting rid of the flufflies, at last.

Science has become magic! Cullen can disappear parts of his body at will!? Dear Maker...my mage would be freaked out and that's saying something.

 

I want to get the fluffies off too. I'd much rather have Cullen in that armor than the fluffies....because....reasons...very naughty reasons....

Yes, but his shoulders actually look bigger and and more defined without the ruff! I wonder if there's a way to get rid of it and just have the leather jerkin and purple vesty-thing underneath?

It obviously complicates things once the romance progresses further. Can't use the sturdy desk forever and there are only so many excuses to invite your military advisor into your chamber before rumors start.

 

Huh... do some people headcanon that they try to keep the relationship a secret? I've always imagined Cullen being very open about it - not the details, mind you, but when he and the IQ decide to spend some time together (in my headcanon they have dinner in her quarters every night after the romance starts - no sleeping over, though  ) they're very upfront about it. No more sneaking around and making excuses, like he may possibly have had to do with another Circle mage back in the day...
