I can't play it by myself - cuz I'm a wus. I play it together with my b/f. He controls the character and I tell him what to do, because he's terrible at figuring that stuff out and I'm good at it. 

 

Anyways, it's been a while since we've played, but the last thing I remember is them meeting up with a couple of brothers (I think I remember they were brothers). Joel hanging from a chain and needing to shoot zombies upside down while Ellie hides on top of a fridge...trying to get outside of a gate and getting left behind by the brothers, then meeting up with them again after getting out. Yeah that's about it.

Oh! You can watch the video then! It's about Tess...you may not remember her, but she...was pretty badass and the voice actress did an amazing job. If I were you I would just watch the Tess scene and then stop watching so you don't get spoiled.

Aww, thank you! Blech...Katriel...I still have some annoyed moments when I think about Rowen hearing Maric and Katriel getting in on in his tent. That was so well written and I could feel Rowen's pain. Although I am going to take it as compliment in the way that Maric would be chasing after my elves or at least enamored by them. Malia would toy with him and Halinia would probably punch him in the neck the first second he opened his mouth. I tried to make a dwarf...and Ti saw the result of that one. He looked like he had spent way too much time around lyrium, lol. I made one Qunari and she turned out decently for my first time.

Yes!! Your elves actually have the beauty that they're always described as having (like Katriel in the Stolen Throne). Humans are my strong suit. I still haven't made a dwarf or qunari yet though, and I'm dying to. But I think the fact that I can't romance cullen with them is holding me back.

Dwarves rock (haven't gotten to a qunari yet.) I understand the problem, though. The only reason I'm even playing elves (I dislike their body model, and you can't get away from it in Skyhold) is to romance Cullen and Solas.

 

There's nothing magical about either youth or old age, advertising propaganda to the contrary. People are individuals and physical age rarely has that much to do with it. I've known people in their 90s with more joy in living and laughter than a lot of teenagers. Except for the fact that he once had a crush on a mage, we actually know nothing about Cullen's tastes, which is good because we can all headcannon that they match the person we want to romance him with. And it's a wonderful thing that what one person does in their game has no influence or bearing on what someone else does. Just because I imagine him finding stability and support that anchors him as well as laughter with an older woman appealing doesn't mean someone else can't imagine him wanting someone young and more spontaneous, even a bit reckless. There is no one answer. Life is wonderfully complex, and so are people.

Finally got a new PT started, qunari this time. Will miss Cullen lots but at least the rest of them gets a chance this way. Next time I romance him it will be with a andrastian rogue who believes in the templars. Will be fun to see the romance play out when you don't support the mages which is what I did last time.

All this mod talk pages back is making me want to install a few despite wanting to play vanilla, then I remember I'm not really playing DAI at all really. Maybe it's what I need to get back into it.

 

Hopefully trying DAMP this weekend with Arty if anyone's interested on PC. Origin name is the same as my BSN.

I wish it was my kid... one of the cons of having to do playground duty every day. I was actually trying to deal with one of the boys name calling... of course I didn't go to get an ice pack straight away, the boys need to know I'm tough LOL I did take myself later to the office & requested they call my Mum (standard practice when a kid gets hit in the head @ school) but they couldn't reach her because she was dealing with other injuries to actually kids at school Btw my Mum did get me the beloved ice pack I became attached too!

 

As for on topic, I've been thinking a lot lately about all the different points of view each of us come in regards to Cullen and not just a little bit but some of us have completely different views/beliefs that I would not of normally considered or agreed with. That being said it's a good thing because so much has been left "open" about his character it has allowed such variation in views/beliefs to develop and evolve. Anyway, the whole point of my ramblings was... I dunno how to say it correctly but what if they had "pigeoned holed" his character more? do you think he'd still have the following he does? I know there would be a possibility of me still liking Cullen but possibly not enjoying his story or romance as much because I wasn't given that flexibility to head cannon certain aspects.

Does that make sense? I think I need to shut up now lol

It's not exactly the innovation of the year really but Pixar did make stories I really love... like telling a beautiful love story in less than 5 minutes.

As for on topic, I've been thinking a lot lately about all the different points of view each of us come in regards to Cullen and not just a little bit but some of us have completely different views/beliefs that I would not of normally considered or agreed with. That being said it's a good thing because so much has been left "open" about his character it has allowed such variation in views/beliefs to develop and evolve. Anyway, the whole point of my ramblings was... I dunno how to say it correctly but what if they had "pigeoned holed" his character more? do you think he'd still have the following he does? Actually I think this is a good example of why I love the characters in the BioWare games so much. They come up with all these characters who have such interesting personalities and create enough back story to draw you in for an emotional connection, yet open enough for you to fill in whatever details you want to seal the deal on why you love them.

 

Like my one cannon for any Human  Mage I romance Cullen with I always have a background of a female mage warden who dies and he was completely in love with her but said nothing ever (minus the fluster admitting in the prison in the tower) and so with the IQ, he doesn't want to say anything, but his fluster confession when she asks him if he could love a Mage,he says what he does because he can't lose another woman he has come to love without saying and acting on it. It also makes more sense to me at the end when he is afraid of you fighting Ole Cory-fits and dying and not coming back. That is my cannon, but when I play a warrior or a rogue its different and then also human vs elf too.

 

Its the same for me with ME too as once again they do the same thing. All I have a ton of cannon backgrounds on different Shep's and crew. So it is very much something I feel BioWare has nailed so well.

Oh I've played Origins a couple of times already on console so no mods - sorry if that wasn't clear.  I want to do it up with mods now (finally) without breaking the game. I'm happy to skip the Fade and the Deep Roads, never need to see those again.

If you do the mods for DAo, highly recommend looking at the lists of mods people have put together.  That's what I did and got all the mods I really wanted and knew they were compatible cause some other noble creature did all the the checking for me!    A good pointer if you are like me and NOT tech-savvy!

I get the impression he has a lot of new fans, and I think he'd still have that same broad DA:I-based appeal he has now if they'd locked down some things more than they did. I think it would be mainly people who already liked him from DA:O/DA2 who would be disappointed. Like, the main things that were left sort of open that I can think of off the top of my head are his age and the extent of his remnant feelings for the mage Warden. I don't think people who didn't notice or like him before would care much either way about either (except, obviously, for ridiculous edge cases, like his being 22 or 60 and still loving the Warden even if you were together).

Just a quick addition to the age discussion. 

 

It's weird...I never really thought about it in the game.  I am gonna be 36 in 2 days (eekk!).  But I tend to write and roleplay characters in their early 20s...I think cause that was the most vibrant and crazy time of my own life and I can draw from it so easily.  I have always dated up in age, so it doesn't seem weird to me at all for an early 20s quizzy to rock out with a 30-something Cully.

 

Speaking of old...my first student, the kid I mentored through an undergraduate research project, is giving his first ever poster presentation today!  I am so proud of him!  I fell like his academic mommy or something.  This is what happens when you don't have kids!! Anyway, I feel like he is leaving the nest or something and it is a cool feeling and also weirdly bittersweet!!

Edna instead of Solana fits with the old Scottish surname of Amell. So in this fic I am creating Cullen comes with Amell and Duncan under orders from Gregior with a few men, since I wanted a reason Uldred had enough Mages to over run over the tower.
