I loved reading those journal entries/letters. I'm glad the Warden convinced the fisherman to stay behind, though.

 

Me, too, but it was bittersweet, too. The Warden seemed really tempted to conscript the handsome young fisherman, and I'm pretty sure they spent one night together. S/he was impressed at the respect he showed him/her, and the way he was just so curious. I think the Warden was really charmed. And perhaps a bit lonely

I think this is often seriously underestimated. A true friendship is a treasure that can help you get through almost anything, and the best emotional support you can have.

 

Except I didn't feel we had become close friends... it still felt a relationship between colleagues by the end of the game. There were only a few characters I felt I was able to befriend, mostly because they actually opened up to me and we had a genuine one-on-one conversation together. Cassandra, definitely. Not many others... keeping in mind Dorian and Sera stuff didn't fire for me that first playthrough. Oh, and I felt close to Solas, too, but we were both elves. And he called me Lethallin

I just started going back through the thread and there is supposed to be banter between the advisors and messengers? I've heard a few from Cullen, but other than that...nothing. And this was before I got the patch as well, so it seems that I had the advisor banter bug but made it out safe with the companion banter bug, well, until I installed the patch. So R2 I wouldn't suggest getting the patch because it definitely screwed things up for me more than helping.

I know I never post but always follow this thread but I decided to come out of hiding and say thank you to all of you for the great discussions, pictures, links, advices, videos, inspiration and information I found here. There is so much I would not know if it weren't for you.

So I guess this is a dead horse topic (hope that is the correct phrase, sorry if it is wrong, I am german) but do you prefer to choose the mages over the templars too?

I still haven't fully finished a playthrough with choosing the mages, so I still haven't met Samson. But... I still haven't gotten past my disgruntlement that there's no extra quest for Cullen on the templar side. As far as the content for both... I prefer the DA2 callbacks from the before Dawn Quest to the limited investment I had in Calpernia, so far. We'll see what I think once I finish up.

The basic form for posting pics is that you need to have them on the internet somewhere. Then you post them with the direct URL to the image as so:

Ah, rats. Thanks for the further confirmation. Yeah, I never really get much advisor banter, but I think my companion banter is mostly fine (minus Western Approach). I just can't imagine even less. Not when my elven boyfriend already never talks to me.

Hard to say since we've started to speed up a bit again. But I think Cerulione's is right, that we've got at least another week. 
 
On the saving spots, I can certainly do that as I always have placeholders for those who can't make it. [[ETA: Plus, you get double the exposure, because you just do a regular post after the fact, and then I add it in to Page 5000.]]
 
Since we're approaching it, why don't we sound off on who plans on contributing so I have a sense of who to wait/hold for?

I didn't feel really close to Blackwall, Varric, Josephine, Leliana*we only helped her return to her a version of her old self, it wasn't a really close bond, imo.* or Vivienne.

I'm playing on PS4 so I don't know if it is different on PC, but that patch seemed to screw more things up than it fixed; based on my own experiences and what I've read. I remember reading that Cullen apparently has a pet crow from Leliana? I never got that banter and that is rather sad, lol.

 

How far are you with the Solas romance? It seems you and Ti are in similar points.

Considering I didn't even know that there was such a thing as "messenger banter" that is clearly telling you the experience I had with it, or lack there of.

 

How fitting that you forgot about Cole... You can tell that Sera cares for the IQ in a few statements she makes when it comes to regarding the end of quests. Cullen is always a bro to my males and...most of the time the lover of my females, lol. Leliana's closest bond is with the Warden and he/she is gone for the time being, so yeah.

Welcome and thank you! I'm glad to see that some people like the retexture. I'm used to making small mods for only myself, and I actually get very nervous about putting them out there for others since I'm not very confident in my modding abilities, so your comment brightened my day.

Actually, I'm doing a Templar pt right now and it depends on what your quizzy says. I've done that scene a couple of times and I've had both Dorian and Cullen say it.

Can confirm it. If you use the top and bottom dialogue options you get the final commentary from Dorian. If you use the middle option, you get the same concerned/surprised reaction from Cullen as he shows on the mage side, and the same "You will find a way" line.

You mean you just saw him as part of a pairing? People have wanted to romance Cole (including Yours Truly) since Asunder came out. He's a popular character.

Oh he's just so precious and adorable! I read him / see him as 17/18-ish. I love teen romances So if I wrote a fic with him in it the inquisitor would have to be very young, no older than 22 I'd say. 

 

There aren't any other comparatively young characters in DAI that I could think of.

 

DG scoffed at would-be Cole romancers, telling us he had the mind of a child (which was news to me after reading Asunder) but I think PW wrote him as more of a teen / young man.

IIRC Alistair was recruited 6 month before Ostagar by Duncan, before he becomes a real Templar. Cullen said that one become a Templar at 18 years old. So he's around this age then no? And Alistair's an LI. Surely more mature than Cole anyhow, in this case I really feels that Cole's mental age is actually the potential problem not what appears to be his physical age.

It's hard for me to pinpoint exactly who I felt closest to because it was really determined by my characters' personalities. But if I was choosing for me personally I'd say I felt closest to Cullen, Cass, Varric, Josie (after her personal quest), and possibly Bull. I really liked some of the other characters but never really got close to them friendship-wise. I would like to think that I'd be close with Dorian too bc I personally love his concept, but unfortunately I never had the chance to do any of his quests because of the bugs... I also really like Sera as a character, but I think our personalities would clash in rl. I like new Leli equally to old Leli, but as much as I could be friends with old Leli, that's how much I couldn't be with new Leli (that is to say a lot). I guess my point is I loved all the characters just in different ways (ie. love to hate). I have to admit I don't like any of them as much as DA:O and maybe even DA2 companions just because I felt like we only got to scrape the surface with learning about them.

Well, Cole's not human so it's hard to say what his "mental" age is (other than DG's canonical statement). In fanfic I think it's okay to interpret him as a curious creature who's willing to experience something new with someone he's grown to love. Well, really, in fanfic, anything is okay

 

Anyway, at the end of my game, I asked Cole if he had thought about falling in love the way humans did (including sex) and he said maybe, just not yet. It was quite cute
