I do wonder what Bioware had in mind for this choice in the keep.

My understanding was that it was a request from the fans. It's not tracked in DA2, nor does it have any bearing on DA:I. So it was just a "flavor" tile. But a confusing flavor tile, since no one could figure out what to pick outside of headcanon.

I think it is more interesting to have the different protagonists throughout the series have a different viewpoint or relationship with the recurring characters. My Warden saw Leliana as a great friend, my inquisitor loathed her political viewpoints but tolerated her as a his spymaster due to her competence.

I'm feeling like my old self! I feel excited about the game again. I have all kinds of inquisitor ideas running through my head. It's DA2 all over again... I'll be able to blissfully ignore all the glaring faults of the game because TRUE LOVE!!!!!!!!!!

 

Bi-Cullen is supposedly coming out very soon, or is at least being worked on!

 

As for MP ... I *think* I can still play. I am in the Patch 5 Beta and they said we would only be able to DAMP with other beta members, BUT I downloaded a whole different game for Patch 5, so my original flavor DAI should still be able to run DAMP with non-beta plebes... er, I mean, non-beta users.

 

OH GOD DAI IS RUNNING MY LIFE NOW I just realized.

 

1. I'm making a step-by-step modding guide for Tish and anyone else

2. I have to download and install the new Cass and Solas mods

3. I have to spend hours creating inquisitors for them.

4. I have to play DAMP, yes, have to.

5. I have to actually test the beta patch instead of doing all this other stuff.

This is a great suggestion, since then folks won't worry about being OT when they respond. 

 

As a quick comment, I've always appreciated the advice to start your story as close to the end as you can. Not sure what the first line should be? Don't worry, just start writing whatever scene you have in your head. You can give it a beginning later on.

Smart move I have an idea of were I am going with said line up of the story I think since it with Cullen telling Amell their couldn't be anything between them once they got back to the circle. So just write the last paragraph and it should help out

I am getting nervous now about the 5k!  I wrote a little 2 page drabble that was written in a burst of inspiration, and I hope it is enough (I know some of you have been working for weeks and weeks on yours!).  Eeek!  But regardless, I am SOOOOOOOOOO excited to read what everyone has been working on!!!  Poems and pictures and stories, oh my!

 

In other news, i am at a serious block in my DAO fanfic.  I've written myself into an angst-ridden hole and have no idea how to get the damned story back on track to get to the parts I already have written.  I had a strong start and a strong ending that were written over like a 2-year period.  The middle is a complete catastrophe! it is all angst with no humor to balance it and I can't seem to get back into the groove!  UGG!!  Any advice?  What do you seasoned writers do when you get writer's block???

Pixar's 22 rules of storytelling said that if you got the end & the beginning covered you're already on the right track... The middle you'll always be able to elaborate later. That's what they say anyway (I'm huge fans of their works so... )

 

I'm not seasoned writer but maybe make a huge event (incident, accident, etc) that allow you to regroup all the characters or divide them, and change settings?

 

EDIT: while we can discuss back to normal speed & we're discussing fanfics, in your opinions is it a good idea to admit in FF.net & AO3 that I took several elements from my family in RL? Seeing how toxic fandom can be I'm not sure it's a good idea... But that's the truth, my 5K fic is basically a mix of what I imagined how Cullen would be, and how similar things I personally observed IRL... I even took care to write it so that people who hadn't play Dragon Age can understand since I want to show it to Dad. Guess that finally that story's more personal than I had intended it to be.

 

What do you guys think? Is it a bad thing to admit that a part of it is actually based on RL?

Wow that's amazing! It'll be funny to see this tile for DA:O, DA2, and DA:I... By chance did you make one with DA:O too? Since there are sooo many fics of Cullen Romance from the three game, it's only fair he got a tile for each game

Hmmm...you may be on to something here, Cerulione.  The mages tower/fade is coming next.  Maybe I could have something happen in the fade, something that creates some sort of tension? They get separated or...something...someone gets hurt...something like that?  A good way to change some dynamics, I think, cause the fade sequences are pretty personal.  But I need to do it smart or it will be boring as hell...ie, I don't want to do everyone's personal fade vision or it will be a snooze fest.  I need an angle...

 

And it is also a good place for humor to get back in.  Maybe my protagonist can get some insight into the people she is traveling with, and use it as a way to start leading differently.  Or she starts to feel protective of them, especially Alistair after his sister thing.  I will stew on it and see if I can come up with something good.

I don't know how you guys write stories, each of us have different methods I guess. But I always start with the end... Normally it's something like "The end must be this scene, this ending line". Then I start working on the first opening scene & line & let it flow... And more than often got stuck in the middle & need to make an extra "incident" like I supposed to timebean

 

Idk I had never been in a writing class before... Arty might help better I guess... Or R2s or any other seasoned writers.

Just a comment, not a complaint: I know it was for the purpose of putting off our arrival at p. 5000, but I kind of liked when we were staying on-topic and using multiquote and wouldn't mind seeing that become a longer-term thing.
