Inspired by some of Cole's comments in-game. The idea hit me a little while after our 4k celebration, and after the theme for our 5k celebration was finalized I decided to finish this one before my other WIP because I thought Cullen's reconciliation with his past would be a fitting subject to illustrate. Of course, the idea of him "thanking" his (terrible) memories may be somewhat irreverent...but I rather prefer to think of it as a celebration of how his experiences, though traumatic, have broadened his horizons and made him a stronger person. As the character Rikku says in Final Fantasy X, "Memories are nice, but that's all they are." Cullen's experiences may have have shaped his path in life, but they do not define him, for although he admits that he could have done better he has never allowed the corruption he's witnessed to shake his moral center. In Inquisition, Cullen is finally given the chance to put his past demons behind him. Go you, Cullen!

 

In terms of technical execution, I wish my knowledge of anatomy (particularly that of hands) was better and that I knew how to paint nicer skin and hair. The lighting and colors are based on how I usually color my Kingdom Hearts gifs on Tumblr, so that's why their placement is also sorta strange and unrealistic. um. LOL. Well, I'll still be practicing lots in the months to come so hopefully I'll be more accomplished next time * v *
