It's kinda crucial. I'd say along Leviathan makes ending easier to grasp. Also it brings more romance goodies

You should be able to get them from where you downloaded Extended Cut. You can't access them in game immediately anyways.

I actually don't mind the ending but I like to have one type of party before finale and then after final run I play alternative scenario cause I love how the dlc finishes. It just has a perfect ending note.
