Oh that does make sense, thanks! Suppose that gives cullen and her something in common...sounds and voices in their heads...grrrrreat... :) now to speculate on what will make it so loud she can't ignore it...hmmm... minus flemythal coming to claim her...too easy....

There's that scene in the garden with Morrigan when she's tripping balls and babbling in elven for... pretty much no reason. (or does this only happen if she didn't have Kieran? I'm not sure now) I imagine it might happen to the Inquisitor too? Like, suddenly getting an overwhelming rush of thoughts and ~elven knowledge~ running through her brain and having a moment of incoherent rambling like that, then snapping back to her senses like it was nothing.

There are a lot of interesting scenarios for an IQ who romances Cullen and drinks from the well like the one you mention. I imagine him helping her get through becoming used to a constant buzz in her head, holding her when she's having an episode of Mythal-induced migraines and disorientation just like she holds him when he's having a sudden withdrawal-induced panic attack again, etc. The more I think about it, the more I favor making this my canon with his romance... there are just so many weird but also super sweet scenarios you can get into with that last minute plot twist between them.

Okay, just to interject on the hairstyles...pleeeeeeeeaaaaasssse somone make a MASS of completely lore unfriendly CURLS. Ringlets, tight, loose, whatever. Just with length and some ooomph! Just long hair styles in general. My warden has a gorgeous swooping high poneytail, practical yet seductive ;)

dunno if you watch Vampire Diaries, but I'd love to have Liv's hair on my character or a character. :)

Aren't the Well's voices softer and quieter for the Inquisitor? In my playthrough, the Inquisitor seemed to indeed hear only small whispers when she really strained to hear them. Morrigan said something like, "You should have let me drink the Well. You're hearing whispers when you should be hearing shouting." After watching a Youtube video where Morrigan drinks it, she does indeed seem much more overwhelmed and consumed by the voices in the Well. This would make sense; she's been studying and preparing herself for such magics for much longer, so the voices might come across much more clearly and loudly for her. She was also raised by Flemeth, whom I'm sure was grooming her for such things.

There are a lot of interesting scenarios for an IQ who romances Cullen and drinks from the well like the one you mention. That would be really cute, now that you mentioned it. Quizzy comforts Cullen while he goes through lyrium withdrawal, Cullen comforts Quizzy when she starts being affected by the Well. (Although I think Quizzy's symptoms would be milder, truth be told. I can't imagine her babbling in ancient elvish except, say, when she's sleeping, or start hearing the whispering until she's so tired and zoned out they start to come through.)

On the effects of the Well, if you drink from it as a mage you can have a very interesting conversation with Vivienne about the whole thing, in which there's an option to spell out exactly how it's affecting you. I was quite surprised and pleased when that came up.

If those dev notes actually mean anything (dev notes are not always reliable as sometimes they're just art direction, plans change and legacy notes remain, etc), I believe Flemeth was passing her Mythal-ness to Morrigan through the eluvian, was that it?  So who knows what exactly the wolfie was absorbing there.

To be honest, part of why I like the idea of drinking from the well is a tiny, maybe hopeless hope that there's a chance Flemeth may have passed her Mythal-ness to the Inquisitor if she drank the sorrows, instead of Morrigan. I'm pretty blah about Morrigan becoming even more OP and literal godmode, and I will likely change my mind about the whole ordeal if it turns out my IQ is now bound to Morrigan's will, of all things. But I do like the possibility that, by choosing to drink, Mythal now favors her, and the Inquisitor transcends her own fate to become something beyond herself. Probably not gonna happen because there's male Inquisitors too, bah. Wasted opportunity, just like the dropped ending with the IQ becoming the Divine. But I hold out a little hope, still. Heh, people have hoped for much more impossible things and not been disappointed. ;)

Anyway, there's also that left-field theory that it wasn't wolfie who absorbed Flemeth, but the other way around? That it was Mythal who overtook Fen'Harel's physical host, or something. It's so out there that it might just be true in the end.

Is there a video for this, perhaps? I'm taking in everything I can about this choice to make up my mind, but I've no mage characters to test this on.

eta: oh wait, is this the same conversation you can have with Viv as a warrior/rogue too? Or is something else marked with the unique mage dialogue icon?

Um... yeah, Vivienne and my Inquisitor were not on speaking terms by the Temple of Mythal (very low approval; she wouldn't talk to me). ^^;;;

Could you describe what the Inquisitor says?

Odd, that's not what that style looks like on my human females...

If that's the same as Ultra, yes, my textures are set to Ultra. And she still looks like:

Shaved_Head.png

And that's an attractive closeup of her hair. There's a reason nothing but her ear and cheek appeared in any of the 5K celebration pics. I'm actually holding off on playing her in the hope the patch releases and I can fix that hair. I don't think of myself as all that picky on hair, but I've got everything from problems like this, sideburns, and, even better, sideburns with dwarven tattoos on TOP of the sideburns...

I've heard people say Ultra is the same as Fade-Touched - in my experience it's not. I used to use Ultra and I couldn't figure out why the shaved hair looked so low-rez. After increasing the textures to Fade-Touched, it looked much better. Maybe because Fade-Touched uses a larger cache.

Tish,

I think this is the hairstyle you are using. This is with the "remove Side-Burn" Mod installed.

I'm not sure what the conversation is like for a non-mage, since mine don't drink from the Well; I know at least some parts of the talk I got were mage-specific, though, because Vivienne brings up how the power of the Well might affect your magic use and what measures to take. Basically Viv asks how you're feeling and you get a range of responses from "Actually, I'm just fine, thanks" to "I think I'm going nuts here." Which is great because it feels like NO ONE ELSE is at all concerned about your state of mind  <_<

I can't multiquote on my phone :( poo

But yes, this scenario just popped into my head as a fic and would be a great cannon. However, I just can't picture it ending well with cullen and quizzy, although what you've described sounds super duper sweet. It's just sooo different from what he's going through imo. How can he relate to ancient elves talking to her? I can only see a chasm between them over time, things she can't articulate and him feeling utterly lost in how to help her get through it. She's a servant to a goddess! She's slave to something outside of herself, and he's slave to himself. His can be overcome by perserverence, but how can her's? Debbie downer, I know :/

I don't remember morrigan having a fit in my pt, and she had Keiran. Maybe it is only if she doesn't have him?

Thanks for the viv tip too. Will definitely need that convo to help me write :)

Even though this isn't everyone's playthrough, I gotta say I'm of the mind that flemeth stuck that horcrux into the fade and Hawke finds it :) need more of my Hawke, snarky goddess coming through!

Yeah, those are the same options I get, so I think it's the same conversation the non-mages get too, just with added lines about the IQ's magic.

It really bothers me how Viv is the only one who cares about this crazy thing you just did, lol. I was expecting at least Dorian and Solas to have something to say about it too, but... nada. And a romanced Cullen, of course. Something like this happening to his lover should really really disturb/alarm him, but he's just all chill about it, like it's no big deal.

Huh! That's interesting! I've heard drinking from the well is a crisis moment for a dorianmance so I've been nervous finishing up this 2nd playthrough. :) but for Cullen not to say anything ?? That's just not cool...he's got to at least hold her and tell her everything will be alright... :(

The lack of response in general to the crazy stuff you do, especially from your LI, is rather disappointing. It got to the point that I almost jumped for joy when Dorian actually showed concern over the fact that his romanced Quizzie didn't immediately follow him out of the Fade rift during "Abyss." Dear Maker! Someone noticed my IQ was gone! What a novelty! ;)

Cullen does have that one line in the War Room where he's worried about "the consequences of drinking from that Well," but it's not romance-specific, sadly.

Okay satan, take a break. :P Happy ending! They overcome whatever difficulties this presents to their relationship, and learn together and from each other, and get through all this with each other's support, and stand together through thick and thin, ride or die, come what may. Happy ending!

(I need Cullen to have a happy ending with the IQ, if only for cosmic balance for the miserable ending my Warden gave Alistair. Can't be all tragedies all the time in this world state, sheesh.)

I don't remember morrigan having a fit in my pt, and she had Keiran. Maybe it is only if she doesn't have him?

Yeah, as soon as I mentioned that I remembered I did not see that scene on the test playthrough I did with Kieran existing, because IIRC the next time you speak to Morrigan immediately after coming back from the Temple, you're taken to the scene with Flemeth and Kieran inside the eluvian. I didn't speak to Morrigan again after that, though, so I'm not sure you can still trigger the scene I'm talking about on a OGB save... but for now I'm thinking this may be a OGB-less scene only.

(you guys are posting faster than I can multiquote!)

That about Dorian is really good to know, because I'm planning to drink from the well when I romance him.... eventually........ if I ever get past the tutorial with a male character............ ever. sigh But it's good to know Dorian cares about his bae doing such a reckless thing, regardless! I like how the whole Temple affair can be a crisis point for Sera with a Dalish Inky too, it adds spice and depth to the relationship.

About Cullen... yeah. I have all the headcanons about him freaking and flipping the f! out about it and then seeing she's really nervous and unsure and scared of it all too and realizing this time he's the one that has to be strong for her like she was strong for him before, etc etc, but... it might've been nice to see something of that in the game itself. :P

So... apparently they screwed up the dwarven women by intent? Why would that not surprise me...

I dunno, I get the same sideburns on Dalish, but not on human women. The human women still get sideburns on some of the others on mine.

I don't think I have a setting beyond Ultra?

Screenshot_Win32_0566_Final.png

And here's the tattoo overlay for the dwarven female (this occurs with almost all of the tattoos available to them.) So, after you get used to being forced to have sideburns with a lot of hairstyles, you then get to cope with having two tattoo patterns that completely avoid the sideburns

I really, really dislike playing male characters; I pretty much just do it for science  - i.e., to check out the romances that wouldn't be available otherwise. Dorian's romance was so awesome that, for the first time, I was tempted to reroll and experience it again. I didn't, but I thought about it. That's a big step for me. He does seem to react to a lot of things that the other LIs ignore.

Of course we're already at a disadvantage with Cullen - and Josephine - in the romance department because we can't force them to follow us around in the wide, wide world, hearing what they have to say about various events and getting...*ahem*... more intimately familiar with the characters. Thankfully Cullen has lots of scenes back at Skyhold to make up for that. Lots and lots of scenes. And hugs

Let me pull up a Dwarf for you and add some Tats so you can get a better idea.

One moment. :)

*****

That is interresting.

Apparently I went into do show you this, but it seems there is a bug/glitch with this MOD. It is still showing the side-burn of this hairstyle on the Dwarf. Even though it is suppose to be removed.

I sent word to the creator. I'll keep you up to date on whatever I get back, if I get word back.

Again, my apologies.

******

Well I checked and ..LOL...the side-burn is NOT there for a male Dwarf.

That is crazy..LOL!

So they gifted them to female dwarves with malice aforethought. Charming, lol.
