Eh, I didn't think the sideburns were that big a deal either, though it just added to my impression of sloppiness and lack of interest when it comes to hair, especially if they shaved the sideburn on the male dwarfs but left them for the female dwarves.    It's the fact that all but two of the facial tattoos, which are almost as much a part of a casteless carta dwarf as the Dalish ones, overlap the sideburns. So...you either don't use the hair styles with sideburns, which include at least 3 I find marginally bearable, or you only use the traditional casteless tattoo (which I can't imagine most surface dwarves allowing) or the "mask" one I have on Zhenya.

 

Interesting. When I looked at settings earlier after you mentioned it, I couldn't see an option to go higher than ultra for textures (and yes, I had mine set to Custom already since I set a few landscape settings-vegetation, water, lower so the game runs better). But now I can see a fade-touched option. Weird.

 

However, it really doesn't improve it much, at least on my system. I reset it, exited the game, restarted, reloaded and:

 

Ok, I just posted this in another thread to prove that there is a difference (at least for me) between Ultra and Fade-Touched textures for shaved hair. Even with Fade-Touched, it still looks terrible up-close, but it's way better than Ultra. Click on the images for full size:

Yeah, I can see a little difference on yours. I wonder how much of the difference is that you're using SweetFX (sp?) and mods though? Mostly my point is that I've honestly tried to work with what they gave us, but there are so many things that make it so much harder (like having to place a Dalish's ears almost on her neck to avoid clipping with some hair styles and the tattooed hair on dwarves.)

If those dev notes actually mean anything (dev notes are not always reliable as sometimes they're just art direction, plans change and legacy notes remain, etc), I believe Flemeth was passing her Mythal-ness to Morrigan through the eluvian, was that it?  So who knows what exactly the wolfie was absorbing there.

Solas was absorbing Mythal's soul to get more power and the thing that Flemeth was pushing through the Eluvian was her soul. We know she can pull a Voldemort and split her soul into pieces to survive (DA2). Now instead of two independent elf gods, Solas has an extra one. And he was apologizing to her because he was basically taking control over his BFF by absorbing her and using her power, I think Solas is still Solas.

To be honest, part of why I like the idea of drinking from the well is a tiny, maybe hopeless hope that there's a chance Flemeth may have passed her Mythal-ness to the Inquisitor if she drank the sorrows, instead of Morrigan. I'm pretty blah about Morrigan becoming even more OP and literal godmode, and I will likely change my mind about the whole ordeal if it turns out my IQ is now bound to Morrigan's will, of all things. But I do like the possibility that, by choosing to drink, Mythal now favors her, and the Inquisitor transcends her own fate to become something beyond herself. Probably not gonna happen because there's male Inquisitors too, bah. Wasted opportunity, just like the dropped ending with the IQ becoming the Divine. But I hold out a little hope, still. Heh, people have hoped for much more impossible things and not been disappointed.

 

Anyway, there's also that left-field theory that it wasn't wolfie who absorbed Flemeth, but the other way around? That it was Mythal who overtook Fen'Harel's physical host, or something. It's so out there that it might just be true in the end.

I think there are two possible quantities to consider in regards to Mythal:

1. Her godhood, aka that quality of life that belongs to the elven divinity that make them divine.

2. Her power, all the magical ability/energy that she possessed.

 

I think that she wanted to send number 1 to Morrigan, while Solas took number two.

I have played and completed the game 7 times now and I dunno how many others I have just played about half with and then deleted and I still listen word for word of all of Cullen's convo's. He is really to damn cute for his own good

Oh me too. I love his wicked grin while playing chess. It is just so cute and playful. Another reason why I just have to romance the man on every friggin game I play. I never get enough of him. I love how throughout the game he gives you a lopsided wicked grin several times...yummy.

Thank you, you two. I do tend to zone out and not pay attention when the plot turns to magic, so my understanding of that whole part of the lore is admittedly super flaky, but that makes sense and really helps understanding the deal with Flem better.

It was a little disappointing that most of the heart options just resulted in regular talk instead of actual flirting half the time. I mean... I don't need to be lewdly propositioning my LI every time, but I would thinking flirting would be actual flirting. :/

I'm still not entirely sure how much "godhood" they might have if the elven gods were more akin to just really powerful immortals, but otherwise I agree. I was thinking more that that whatever makes her Flemeth is what she somehow sent through the eluvian (the horcrux idea) with the hope that we actually see Flemeth herself again in future installments. But her power she passed to Solas, since that's what he needed. I also hope Solas is still Solas afterward. But it will be really interesting if he's different after that. I mean, weird and possibly tragic and sad for those who romanced him, but interesting. 
 
I also got the interesting banter between Dorian and Solas for the first time (since I never take two mages with me normally...) about the orb. Where Dorian says the Tevinters call them "somnaborium" or vessels of dreams. Interesting stuff.

I *think* Adela might have tried that but she isn't around at the moment. However, I don't believe that the devs created the companions, advisors and npcs in the character creator. They probably use a different program for that, e.g. 3ds Max or Maya where they model the characters from the scratch. That's why you won't be able to create a male protagonist in the CC who looks 100 % like Cullen. Although I've seen some decent Fenris models made in the DAI character creator, so maybe you just hang in there and try out different heads and presets?

Morrigan had Kiearan in my playthrough and I always assumed that Solas took the soul of the Old God from Flemeth and that Flemeth sent Mythal's essence through the eluvian. Or the other way round: Flemeth pushed the soul of the Old God through the eluvian and that Solas took Mythal's essence. But for me it made perfect sense that there were two seperated souls. Until someone from the forum here pointed out that people who didn't do the dark ritual get exactly the same cutscene. There goes my theory .

Yeah, I don't have Kieran in most of my games, and the scene is always the same. Gets a bit tiresome being the buzzkill that repeats "can't be the OGB's soul because no OGB in my game" everywhere and gets yelled at for pointing it out and ruining headcanons, tbh. But yeah, whatever Solas took from Flemeth has to be from herself, because the scene is exactly the same with or without the kid.
