LOL Welcome to the rest of your game! 

 

It was a little disappointing that most of the heart options just resulted in regular talk instead of actual flirting half the time. I mean... I don't need to be lewdly propositioning my LI every time, but I would thinking flirting would be actual flirting. :/

 

I wondered if it was a problem with the mod at first! But then I remembered (to my understanding) that the modder changed none of the dialogue, simply removed the gender restriction. So everything Solas and Alin are saying to each other is base game stuff. Which means Solas is canonically ignoring my flirts. ARSE!

 

But he called me graceful, so it's all good

I did, and mine were also unsuccessful. I posted them a while back and it's not worth posting again - ha. He could have maybe been his brother or cousin! I gave up after a while.

For all three of my male elves so far I've used John Epler's "hot elf guy" he posted to Twitter a couple months ago as my base. So... they all kind of look alike. It's because there's no Black Emporium yet, and I KNOW this look works, and I'm afraid if I try something different I'll end up with a face only a mother could love xD

 

Having different hairstyles will help dramatically, but tbh, I always used the same face for my Hawke's, too, and I must've had about 20 of them.

True, and it's all in what works for you. My comment wasn't critical, just a speculation about why there's a similarity in the looks people have chosen for male humans. Me, I'm big on making my IQs look very different from each other and suiting their classes and personalities. The risky side of that is I have ended up with IQs that I love (and don't think I can recreate) that I continue running despite problems (Volya's horrible buzz cut and heavy blush, Derzka's hair color and scars that are a bit too deep, Reska's tattoos that clip the sideburns, grandma Taina's neon blush, Zhenya's heavy blush - apparently I have a particular problem gauging blush in the CC.) The only one I have no real issues with is Vetra, other than the tattoos slightly clipping the sideburns, and ironically, I hadn't intended to keep her originally. I know some people run exactly identical PCs for several PTs, and that's great if that's what they want. But I wonder if having the Black Emporium will encourage some people to take a lot more chances in the CC.

I cannot say anything about the B.E. since I'm under NDA, but I was very please with the Mirror. IMO its better then the CC at start-up.

It will for me! So will having some of Adela's glorious hair! I can also play around with different skin tones, freckles, and such.

Well I'm eagerly looking forward to Solas kissing my chin while I make out with his forehead Since I imagine the height thing will come into affect, though luckily male elf is not that taller than female elf. I pity anyone romancing modded Solas with a qunari or dwarf

 

I cannot say anything about the B.E. since I'm under NDA, but I was very please with the Mirror. IMO its better then the CC at start-up.

 

I am also in the beta but sadly I have not been able to test it because it is for keyboard and mouse only; it did not recognize my controller I was devastated!

They did some mocap for DAI but I think it was for combat animations.

I agree, it does seem they ran out of time with him. It's a shame, it had so much potential to be an amazing romance. The bits we got were great (apart from the dance, still upset about that lol), there just could have been more.

And that's just a difference in playing style. I tend to try to RP very different personalities and backstories (and romances, etc.) for my PCs, though a lot of my decisions along the way will be similar (though sometimes for very different reasons.) So I also like their appearances to be really unique so each PT is completely memorable. I pay the price for that in the flaws even I have a hard time loving.

Oh, I can't wait for her hair! And well, we'll have to see what happens with Cass and Zhenya when I get that far. Cass may be kissing her forehead at times, which could be adorable, though.

When it comes ti recreating main characters in the CC.

 

Its hard to do so. Why? Most gaming companies have a special CC to create important characters. Allowing the designers more control over how the character looks. The same can be said for the lower body. Sometimes one designer will create the whole character while other times, one designer will create the head and another will create the lower body. It all depends on how they choose to do it. Thus these characters are given unique features that are not available in the CC we use. Basically think of this way, they use a powerful CC and we get the low end version.

 

As for Motion capture. No they did not use it for this game. When they relaunched the Tomb Raider franchise they used it for that game, but not this one.

 

Generally voice actors are taken into a booth, and are given a a computer screen attached or near their mic. The monitor will tell the actor what line needs to be said and how to say it: angry, scared etc. Lets say a line calls for to be angry. The voice actor will then say the line and if its not right they repeat until they do so. Some companies will use the voice to screen option. The voice actor has a monitor in which he/she can see the scene play out with the character they are voicing. Then they use that as a means to get an idea how the character should react.

 

After seeing videos of the voice actors in action, it sounds like they were just given a screen with their lines and how to react. Thus have to repeat until the lines are acted out correctly.

I'm aware of how they do the voice acting, and I think most people realize that the CC that we are given is not as powerful as the dev tools, but I've seen people get really close to other characters (like that Brienne of Tarth is amazing). So how do they animate, say the chess scene? Cullen in particular is very realistic, spreading and closing his legs, jiggling his feet, leaning forward then back, etc. The movements are so incredibly fluid. Do they have a database of programmed movements that they string together? I just wonder if someone at some point did mo cap for various movements then they are dumped into a file that they can pull from, and manipulate to the skeleton or whatever the term is.

On the flirt system, I see your point.... and, I agree, it's certainly better than me telling Seb I have a few services he can perform.   But I found the flirt lines to be just as caring as most of the non-flirt lines usually. That's what I found disappointing. I think they could be flirty without being 'raunchy' (to borrow GE's word) or sexy.

Yes and he said it to my (unmodded) male Lavellan's, too Why do you think I immediately developed a crush and started fantasizing that there was something going on between them LOL That whole scene is sooo cute and even mildly seductive, regardless of race or gender. I think it's because he's sharing a very intimate part of himself, but also because he's in control of the situation, and he enjoys that.

That's what I found disappointing. I think they could be flirty without being 'raunchy' (to borrow GE's word) or sexy. 

 

I certainly wouldn't mind a little more raunchy.    Just a little more, well without sounding like we are hiring him for his...services.
