O_O Did Cullen die!? You see I am cruel to my own characters, but I can never kill off established characters in the universe! The pain, the pain!

 

*sniffle* That ring would be on my IQ's finger until her dying day... IF such a thing were to ever happen, which it WON'T. Because Cullen lives forever. I decree it. And I've gotten pretty good at living in denial after what a certain eggheaded elf did 

 

...I cried when I saw that. Literally.

 

Like Zarro, normally I don't have problem killing my own Warden/Inquisitor in the fic (that smug blond elf on my avatar had died twice already). But Cullen...

I don't even have a problem killing my own characters in game, but killing NPCs really bothers me. Most of my Wardens are dead because I can't bring myself to let Alistair die for them. :\

I know this. I'm actually ashamed to admit that one of the scene I find really interesting (heartbreakingly) in DA:O is when my Warden romancing Alistair (King) did her Ultimate Sacrifice. The eulogy he gave...

 

I'd stopped doing things like that lately so DA:I suits me just fine. Fluff & light stuffs can always keep the morale up after a long day better than angst. For the moment at least, I still have some angsty fic projects on hold (namely the one mentionned with T-Rex about Lavellan & Cullen & baby mage)

This is what I posted when someone asked in the CC thread - it's a general guide that works for me with female humans, elves, and dwarves:

• Preset doesn't matter - they all end up getting to the same place after you "wipe the slate clean" to create your own look.
• Pick which face shape you want. The only two that ever seem to work for me are the middle one and furthest to the right.
• Before you get started customizing the sliders, bring everything to "center" to "wipe the slate clean" and start fresh.
• Ears - these you can pretty much customize however you want.
• Eyes - I never move them up or down. The "center" level always seems to work for Humans, Elves, and Dwarves. Elves and Dwarves need them moved a smidge forward as they start out quite sunken in. All races need them moved a little apart - in general the idea is to have the length of an eye space in the middle (this applies to real-life facial proportions).
• Eyebrows - I never move them up or down - the 1st setting works for all races. In general, you want to have the tail of the brow end just outside the outer corner of the eye (this applies to real-life facial proportions). A lot of the in-game brows don't have enough of a tail or don't have enough space in-between (almost uni-brow). There's only a couple that seem to work. That's why I modded the bejeezus out of my brows. Brows can make or break an entire face...even in real life. Can you tell I'm obsessed with eyebrows???  
• Brow - always center vertically - horizontally choose from center to all the way left, depending on taste. Moving to the right gives you a "Neanderthal" brow.
• Forehead - always center horizontally - vertically choose from center to all the way to the bottom (this allows you to choose a wider or narrower forehead).
• Cheekbones - a little goes a long way. I always pick just to the right and slightly down for slightly high and more prominent cheekbones. They're already pretty prominent so you can very easily go too far for this.
• Cheek Shape - a little goes a long way. I always pick just to the left and slightly down for more defined cheeks. If you want rounder cheeks you can move the slider to the right. You can easily go too far with this.
• Nose - I always pick the 1st nose for Humans and Elves and the last nose for Dwarves. You get a very nice face centering all other nose sliders, though you can customize depending on what you want. For my "self insert" I had to make the bridge a bit wider (to the right all the way and up from center about half-way). You can also move the position a little forward depending on the look you want. All races need to have the nose moved a little lower closing the gap between the mouth and nose. Just a little.
• Mouth - I always choose the 1st mouth for every race and always center lips, width, etc. 
• Jawline - depending on how strong you want the jawline, choose from center to all the way to the right. 
• Jaw Size - depending on how long you want the face to look, choose from center to all the way to the bottom. Then to the right for a wider (boxier) jaw or to the left for a narrower one. 
• Chin Size - I usually keep this pretty much center, but you can customize this if you want a narrower or wider chin.
• Chin Shape - always center
• Jowls, Broken Nose, Double Chin - always to the lowest setting, far left and bottom.

Alas, I think his face is one of the ones that the CC just cannot even come close to. 

 

Oh... I know. Sigh. I tried to make a male Quizzie that looks like Jensen Ackles yesterday and I spent a ridiculously amount of time in the CC. I wasn't even getting close. So, at one point I decided to drop it completely and take Jensen's look more as an inspiration for the modelling of my very own character. That worked better. LOL. Here is the result (still frustrated with the hair option, or should I say the lack of hair options?):

I wonder if the PC dies, it'll break the LI's heart. That'll hurt. A lot. Really. Imagine your quizzy die & how it'll break Cullen or Fenris or Anders or whoever it is? The thing with BW's is that the LI loves you really up to the point I take it seriously...

Nope, not the only one. I fell totally in love with my (female!) warden and my fem Shepard but never with my Hawke or my Quizzie. At least not yet. I made several more characters in the CC (because I love the CC), so we'll see if another Quizzie works better for me. Then again I doubt that I have the energy for more than 2 or 3 play throughs.

Hmmm, depend on which quizzy of mine. My mage Trevelyan surely, I LOVE her look & her personality. But my Smug Mean Blond Elf (colonelkillabee's way of calling my Lavellan) I don't think so. She's too mean & too smug

 

I'd smooch my Lady Amell & Lady Hawke anytime tho... And my Man!Hawke too.

 

Okay, my BF made his Warden the kind that he'll want to smooch and see her swaying hip so I guess that we're both beyond hope.
