You will know when Arty is upset. There will be a massive post detailing the situation and the feelings behind it and then there will be several smaller posts following that massive post. Such is the Way of Arty, lol.

 

lol! Not quite (or I suspect most of us wouldn't be in this thread.) There are lots of Templars I liked. The only one I disliked in DAO was Carroll; but I did have issues with Greagor for wanting to punish a mage for following orders (it always struck me as the mage getting caught in a power battle between Greagor and Irving with no way to win.)

I like Templars, however, I love Mages. I have comments in which I will not post because there is no point whenever I already stated my side. I feel that they need to show both sides without making either side look like the "bad" side. That will never happen though.

I mean, it's not an accident that Templars are dehumanized into a faceless helmet-wearing, sword-wielding anonymous mass, while 99.9% of the mages we see get names, visible faces, wavering voices and tragic backgrounds - even the villanous ones commiting unspeakable crimes but getting a pass because "they're only human" etc. It's a deliberate writing artifice, and it works people's minds like a charm.

 

Like Elu mentioned the other day, think of how many mages we've had as companions so far, telling us their feelings, their deepest fears, sharing their life experiences, becoming your best friend, becoming your lover. Think of how many Templars have even got a name tag in the whole series so far, leave alone more than two or three lines to speak. There's a heavy and intentional slant in the writing, and any pretense of "shades of grey" or "showing both points of view" is a joke. That's pretty much the point of Cassandra's line: mages have made their suffering known; Templars haven't. (or rather, the writers haven't )

 

 

Special recipe, for filthy Templar-lovers only.

 

(Nah, just ask Dagna. she's smuggling the thing all over the Templar tower in Skyhold. No guarantees, side effects not fully studied yet. )

More than anything, I miss having a safe-space Sebastian thread to talk about him and share love with other fans like we do here for Cullen, without it turning into a wankfest. (how do you miss something that has never existed, though? )

I like Greagoir in general, mostly in relation to his relationships with Wynne and Irving, but yeaaaaah. He's a very strict by-the-books Commander, and that doesn't always translate into being a nice guy. If we take those IDW comics as canon, he's done much worse than his quick judgement of the mage Warden, just because it was the norm to follow.

 

Still can't bring myself to actively dislike him, though, because of the way he deals with the Tower in DAO. He's very lucid about the possiblity that he may have to call for the annulment but he's not pleased at all by the idea, and once you give him the inch of hope that Irving and at least some of the mages can be saved, he clings to that and genuinely hopes you succeed. (and then you bring Irving and Wynne back and he's like, "stfu Cullen my BFFs are back go sit in a corner and take five" and I love it )

I understand what it is like for people to misunderstand you and feel like you aren't getting your point across. It has happened me numerous times and usually I don't get angry and post responses when I am like that. Usually I am really short with people when I'm annoyed or angry.

Okay, noted. Sorry I didn't get it at all back then. My head's not functioning.

 

It's a concept existing in German Language apparently... They're among those who bother to classify everything into Masculine, Feminin, and Neutral. I already thought that French is a crazy language since the hardest part is to know which is which (a car is a girl, a ship is a guy, moon is girl & sun is guy, telescope's a guy etc).

I don't know what's in the comics that Greagoir might have done (I'm afraid to find out now.) I really liked him in my first few PTs. But then I ran my mage who went straight to Irving and cooperated completely, then discovered if Duncan hadn't been there, I would probably have been heading for tranquility or the mage's prison, yeah, my opinion of him suffered a bit (and of Irving, I think he threw me to the wolves on purpose, knowing Duncan would save his bacon.) Of course, I think they both wanted me out of the tower because of Cullen...

Sounds like you and I are in a similar predicament. I just go with my biological sex because... I don't have a gender.
