Are you suuuuure? Because I see a black line at the top and on the bottom, as if framing the picture. None on the sides. It's because originally I had a black frame around the picture, but the forum cropped it.

Okay, opening up my bad boy PC.

Yep, I can see them on my phone. Aaaaand, I am in the same boat as R2: I keep on mistaking your posts for Ceru's... :D

As for video cards, I have a microATX case, and was able to install a GTX 660 - barely. Problem is, it has the cord from the power source in a very bad location. I am guessing the 760 is similarly constructed. Installing my power source.... Now that was a doozy. Had to take everything out - mobo, the works. But now it hums along happily with 650W.

Hope your card will work out!!!

What have been seen can't be unseen...

Do y'all think I should get rid of the black lines on the top and bottom of my avatar. It looks like he's peaking in through a window lol

I see black lines that's not on my original drawings. But that's funny because I really think Alin's outside looking in from behind a glass window

Weeeell I was brave to remove the cover, locate the video card, and unscrew the screws holding it in... but I could not figure out how to remove it. I was afraid that if I did manage to take it out, I wouldn't be able to get it back in >.>

I wish there were a friggin class I could take on this. GRRRR Ignorance is so frustrating!!! Anyway, the computer did start and the screen is showing, so let's see how long that lasts...

Are you trying to remove the motherboard? There are a couple of screws that are easy to miss. I have a Dell too, so your PC might be similar to mine. But before you remove the screws, make sure to disconnect the mobo from the power source. And unplug the video card, and remove that before the mobo. I think the mobo has to be slid out of the case (if it's a micro ATX).

Fingers crossed! Hope it'll work!

you're the best, Elu!   :crying: *sniff*sniff*

Sorry I might've sparked off all the Solas talk today. I'm still a little sad at how raw the ending was. I think everyone just has to decide for themselves if they do or don't want to romance him, and there's no rhyme or reason to decide why someone else might like him. (so I appreciate the caution about talking about why other fans like what they like)

For myself... *sigh* he's exactly my Achilles heel. Nerdy cute, smokin' hot intelligent, slightly arrogant, may not always use his intelligence for good, but sweet and awkward and tries to be a good person. Oh man. My past is littered with disastrous romances like that. Plus that one that wasn't. ^_^ So UNF. With a capital U. :)

Anyhoo, it also makes sense that he's not everyone here's cup of tea, since, after all, what we all have in common is our like for Cullen. And while I see some similarities in them, there are also many differences. I'm just super grateful I got to experience both. ... and that Cullen can always be my rebound in fanfic... :eyebrow waggle: Because Cullen loves us.

I think you and I have that in common, R2s. Solas reminds me exactly of a person I used to date in a relationship that was sort of similar in that it was amazing and sweet and everything that I needed or wanted it to be and then it ended disastrously. Which is why I needed to join the Solas group before the Cullen group (so that I could at least have some hint of sanity for our dear, sweet Cullen). And also why I need closure in some form, because my IRL relationship never had any closure. I definitely need DLC closure.

Also, Solas wouldn't want to be anyone's cup of tea. He hates tea. Remember?

I was actually just trying to remove the video card  Even after removing the two screws it wouldn't budge. Seems to be enclosed in some kind of case.

Arti, I totally forgot! I think there is a snap release for the video card. You have press that down before the card can be removed from the mobo. It is a bit tricky to get to, if your video card is large. But, you should be able to access it. It's right by the PCI slot.

Oh she really looks like Aela!

Usually I try to find "Elfy" names for my elfs, and if it happens to be Human Female character in DA series, they tend to get "Elena"... 75% Chance. I got an Elena Cousland, Elena Hawke, Elena Trevelyan. -_-

Got one Celeste Amell though, the only Human Female PC I get that doesn't get the name Elena...

LOL All my human females are named Alora. Except for my Amell. She was Essandra, but that's because I had already used Alora for my Cousland, and I felt weird about giving both of Alistair's girlfriends the same name.

*snip*

Edited - cause i see this was already discussed in my absence!  :P  Gah, i am out of it today!  Migraines are the worst :(

Tis ok! I went and had dinner, took a nap and had four pages to read when I came back!  :P

*clicks tongue* I can't even really play my game right now because after 5 minutes or so the screen goes black and I see "no signal" on the TV. I'm pretty convinced the Dell guy didn't hook something up right when he replaced my video card. I HAVE pulled the top off and poked around in there, and I KNOW where the video card is, but that's about it. Anyone have any suggestions before I engage in yet another 2 hour conversation with someone from Dell on the phone?

No, before it was doing something different. The fan would blow really really hard and THEN the screen would go black. Now it's just going black. Occasionally it restarts.

Usually a PC that restarts during heavy use is overheating somewhere. In your case, it's most likely the GPU since that's what the guy messed with.

Okay I'll check it out :) I was reading online that when going from a 660 to a 760 that there are an extra pair of... things... to plug in lol (BASK IN MY PC IGNORANCE) so I was wondering if the Dell guy forgot to plug something in.

I would hope the guy wouldn't be working as a PC tech in that case since that's pretty much "graphics cards 101."

When it comes to desktops, I've learned that bigger is better when it comes to selecting a case. Because bigger = more airflow = less heat. You also can fit any sized GPU in with ease. I honestly picked the biggest case I could find - it's about 2' x 2' x 12" and has a huge fan in front taking in air as well as a huge fan on top for exhaust. My CPU is liquid cooled and has a radiator with a fan on the back of the case for exhaust. My PSU has a huge fan at the bottom which exhausts out of a vent at the bottom (since it has feet and is elevated by about 1.5"). All of my vents have cleanable filters over them to help prevent dust (and kitty hair!) from getting inside. I don't have to clean out my case that often at all (ever few months if that). Here's what my case looks like - yep a space ship:

Sooo... case in point on the avatars. I now can't tell the difference between CuriousArtemis and Cerulione, and I keep thinking it's the other one of you posting when I see your avatars. :shakes fist at changing avatars:

Once someone started using an avatar that Elu had been using and finally the way they 'spoke' made me realize it wasn't him. LOL

I don't like people moving my dog bowl.

*moves dog bowl* I am changing my pic again... ^_^

You broke my heart!!!!  Just kidding,,,your new avatar still seems like you (maybe it is the pose of the head?), tho, so I am all good! :D

XD Whatever helps you recognize me. However, expect a new pic soon...so you may want to pay attention to my name.

@ Mel

Yeah, bigger case is always better. I will probably build myself a new computer thus year, or next year the latest. I have monitored my hardware to see if it overheats, and it looks fine so far. I've had the video card for about half a year, and had no problems. The power supply starts whirring when I play something graphics heavy (like DA:I), but since the temps are OK, I think I don't need to worry about that.

But, I am definitely excited about building my computer, rather than buying it from Dell :D I just need to find the time to do the research on what components would be good :)

I think I've come to realize Mel, my Alienware computer just does not like me running my game even on high settings.

Its like its telling me: "Yes, that is it, play on crappy settings." :/

It sometimes happens two seconds after turning the PC on, so I seriously doubt it's a heating issue. And yeah, you appear to have more faith in Dell technicians than I do

Well, as I've said before, I needed a computer that would fit under my TV so I can play in my living room, just like on my xbox. A massive beast of a desktop is not feasible for me. So I had to look for a smaller PC. There were basically only two or three options; I went with the alienware because it was cheapest.
