I always imagine him being really widely read, so his bookshelf features an eclectic mix of things. Since I'm apparently repeating myself, I'll just say here's my vision of his bookshelf:

"By far the largest and most well-used item in the room, the bookshelf was filled to the brim with perfectly ordered and aligned books. Running her fingertips along the creased spines as she passed by, she was again impressed at the breadth of titles. Alongside crusty manifestos and rulebooks on the Order's tenets were histories and memoirs from the various mage fraternities. Next to the Chant of Light and the Sermons of Justinia II were books on the Qun and the witches of Rivain and even a copy of the Edicts of the Black Divine. There were texts on swordplay and anatomy but also art and cooking. "

Our Renaissance Man. :)

^ Ohh... beautiful text, R2 :). But what kind of books would Cullen have from our world? What do you think?

Hmmm while I can imagine his interest in art & other thing you've mentionned, being surrounded by the Chantry & Magic, the idea of him interested in cooking is new to me.

I mean, he never had to cook once in his lifetime...

*well said anyway, this is from which fic?*

What Counts

I love writing about the morning after and snooping through his stuff. :D

On cooking, I had started headcanoning that he's from rather humble origins, like a farm, so I could see him potentially knowing about mundane things like that. Ironically, in DA:I flycam has discovered a book on farming, I think it was, on his bookshelf in his office at Skyhold. LOL I wonder if I can find the pic.

EDIT: There we go!

Well I did it.

I and my husband are going to build my own gaming PC.

Just sent off two separate orders for all the components.

I want to say this...

Mel is the sh**. She helped me out figure out which parts and what goes with what. I could not have done this without her awesome aid. There is not enough Thank yous I could give her to show my appreciation.

However I will start with one---Thank you Mel! <hugs> :D

Oh and on topic...

Cullen you are one sexy beast.

Aww, thank you! I can't wait to see how it all works out and I hope you guys have no issues out of the gate!

I think there's an updated version for the latest patch? Could be mistaken though. They are bantering like fiends now, but varric and solas are repetitive... :( i feel like I met that too literal genie and got my wish...

Yeah, that one still doesn't help with the crashing. I've heard I'm not the only one that has issues with it.

Ooooh! This is interesting! Very GOOD to know, bravo Flycam Developer & every screenarcher in the universe.

Well, Cullen preserving pickled dills... smoking hams... This is a very lovely idea.

Still, I won't have thought of that myself. I'd think even if he grown up in a farm, he got sisters so it's entirely possible that the task of cooking will be delegated to his Mom & Sisters. Well I don't know much about how people live in a farm back then, the only sources I got is from Irene Hunt's Across Five April and those Little House on the Prairie (that everyone keep lending me lately for unknown reason...). In those books even young boys from large family (4 kids at least) are expected to work on the field since they can walk. The girls got task on the kitchen & the garden.

Still, the idea is endearing. I know of a guy IRL who really loves making jam & his own bread and I love him to death...

The 1st prize is cool. I really wish that I had any useful artistic skill.

1st prize:: Xbox One, a signed Inquisitor Edition and a t-shirt

2nd - 5th prizes: Posters signed by the team and Inquisitor Editions

Link

LOL. And ninja'd big time by alwayshungry.

That's not fair. Between the 1st and the 5th there are too great difference. They should've make something more equal. I mean the line is always very fine...

I am so sorry, I cannot seem to find the artist to this....since I got the link from my husband. :(

TBH, my point with the bookshelf is that these are things he might have an interest in reading about. Just because he'd have the Edicts of the Black Divine doesn't mean he's a follower of that branch of his religion. Same with cooking and art, to my mind, I picture him wanting to learn about them, not necessarily having to be an artist or a cook.

@ Ceru: I forgot to add that you get Inquisitors Edition, too, for the 2nd - 5th prizes. I corrected it above, sorry about that.

I see. I didn't even click on the link because I just know that I'm usually too slow. LOL .

Here are a couple from my playback. Though I don't have a jump drive right now so I just used my phone to take the pictures.

Spoiler

I think she is pretty but there's something about her I don't quite like. It might be her hair doesn't suit her, but I'm not sure. Lol. Maybe I should have given her that pixie cut after all. And then there's the whole point of that she is supposed to be for Cullen and I want to make sure they go together... Err... That they look good together, you know?

Yeah she looks good to me I think she'd work well with Cullen was thinking something like this maybhe for my next Inquisitor the only difference being I'm going to be an elf for my next run so I may need to tweak things a bit for my quizzy

Good point.

Hehe I really love the idea of him learning to make his own bread, pickling his own Dill Pickles & smoking the ham. Or cook. If it's a Modern AU, I can actually picture him cook rather well. (Good or not good is debatable, excellent cook or not debatable) but something practical & good, something homely, comfort food. He does know the importance of good food for morale (remember when Rylen told him Morale Is Low mission, he sent a cook?)

I know that many people imagine & write fics about Modern AU Cullen as PTSD ridden ex soldiers but somehow in my headcannon he's the kind of guy who's either happily in Air Force (read: Top Gun) as Pilot of Fighter Planes, either as passionate Mechanical Engineering. Knows really well how to cook & bake his bread, probably enjoy doing that too. Play chess well & read a lot. Secretly loves art or music & going to the museum.

(Alright, the kind of guy I'd definitely date. Read: my BF, except he's rather an engineer and not a military)

Hmmm how are you guys picturing him in Modern AU?

I'm not terribly keen on modern AUs myself (just a preference for the sort of stories I like read/watch), but I saw a loverly fanart recently with him just reading the newspaper with glasses on that I loved. It was just so... Culleny. I wonder if I can find it.

aha!

I suddenly have the urge to draw Cullen in modern day Air Force dress blues...

I wish I could draw...

Modern day AU? Hmmm. I don't see him as a career military man, actually, though the thought of him enlisting (Air Force? Pfft, GO NAVY! :P) for awhile seems quite plausible. I picture him more along the lines of a police officer. Otherwise... I dunno... basically the same as he is now!
