I wonder if you needed to go pro-Templar to become Divine, since the mage side doesn't have anything like that. It could have been a knock on effect from everyone telling you siding with the mages is the unpopular decision.

Hmmm, possibly. I could see that having chosen the Templar Order, and more specifically, choosing to restore them would definitely hold a hell of a lot of sway in the choosing of the Divine.

Having the Templar Order practically join you would net you an almost incalculable amount of power.

My eeyesssss!!! Ahem... well-endowed... very well... But ouch-ouch-ouch  The artist got a little carried away with the proportions :P

If you search tags there's a, um, smaller model :P  But be careful.  I searched the dragon age: inquisition tag and came across Corypheus with his thing out.

My 2 cents...

I thought Mother Giselle was a candidate as well, especially after she was with the "faithful" disciples in Haven and marched with them, led them in song, etc. Also, the fact that she was close friends with Divine Justinia (as per hinterlands letter).  I really thought that was where they were going.

But instead, I think she was mostly there to show decency in the chantry...you know, that they are not all zeolots or power hungry, etc. Even her feelings towards Tevinters, shown through her Dorian dialouge, gives her a bit of humanity.  She is not perfect, she knows it, but she tries.  Hell, Giselle and the cute chantry sister in DAO that inserts food in the Chant really are some of the bright spots in the whole chnatry world, in my opinion.

But I think politically, the chantry does not choose the Divine based on who is most devout, or who is even the "best" at being religious (if that means anything).  They had to choose someone with real clout, someone who could be feared and respected and who could invoke awe in her followers.  Vivienne makes good points about this.  The Divine is an icon more than anything.  Devout women like Giselle need to be in the trenches, talking to the common man and making connections. The sunburst throne is a hugley powerful position, and needs someone who can be ruthless, I think. Someone who can think geopolitically. Thus, about 2/3 in the game, I realized that although Giselle seemed to be who was going to end up there, she just wasn't suitable for a position like that. So I was personally relived when I realized she wasn't even in the running.

Also, I wonder if folks were surprised that Quizzie wasn't in the races.  I was...I mean, she/he is the herald of andraste after all...

Also, I love that it is called the "Sunburst throne".  Sounds so...regal to me!

*snip*

And here I was thinking Cory's had withered off a long time ago :P

I guess I am just a bit traumatized because I am used to figure drawing lessons, where it's all tame... And as far as art history is concerned, sculptors and painters have tried to de-emphasize it even further (apparently, it is not considered an attractive part of the body - very useful, lots of fun, just not pretty to look at :P).

Well said! I liked Giselle, but I don't think she had the toughness for the position. Even though I tend to favor Cass, I do agree with Cullen about how she'll react, lol.

My first Quizzie was an agnostic Vashoth mage - I had no expectation of her ending up Divine. I'm still blown away by the fact that Vivienne manages to get herself elected.

"Sunburst throne" does sound totally awesome. Gotta get me one for the great hall in Skyhold.

Agreed, but I think that's also why she should have been a candidate, story-wise. A well intentioned, pro-reform candidate that's ultimately ineffective as the Divine because she isn't willing to make the hard decisions. Personally, I feel how Giselle would be as Divine is how a softened Leliana should have been as Divine. (Also, a hardened Leliana still should have been ever so slightly less successful if you ask me, but that's neither here nor there)

So, has anyone else tried jumping on their bed in Skyhold? Dust puffs up from it, lol...

It's actually not the first time I've jumped up and down on the bed, but I hadn't noticed the dust before, lol.

First I jumped on Cullen's bed and saw how much dust flew up so then I went to my room and jumped on my bed and it was just as dusty.   :D

I'm not saying that wanting to become a God is Corypheus trying to over-compensate for something... but it's that, isn't it?

Yep. I have done it numerous times and then I jumped on the loveseat and it is clean. I like to think that all the dust is just really Cullen glitter from the night before. All that hair gel and what not. And now I wait for the pervs to capitalizes on Cullen's glitter and turn into Cullen's "glitter".

Honestly, the holes in the ceiling, random vegetation and dust on the bed really show how much of a man-cave that Cullen has created for himself, eh? He spends so much time on his hair in the morning, he doesn't have time to do any cleaning whatsoever!

So while not Cullen, I know many of you love Alistair too and thought I would share this. I am currently working on a story about my Mage Warden Ishari curing Alistair of the calling. In it she using a somewhat blood magic type ritual to pull the taint out of him and decided to sketch out how I saw it. Its only a quick type drawing and not really a heavy detail one. Don't know if I will finish it up or leave it as a sketch, but here it is. (Please excuse picture quality, scanner is still boxed for moving and only have my camera to use for photos)

Well from what I've heard, they were still going to run with it until it came to adding the races back in. Male Divine heresy was okay, but elven and qunari was probably going too far, (especially if you through in the dangly bits), and they just couldn't justify it in lore, I suppose.

But I think politically, the chantry does not choose the Divine based on who is most devout, or who is even the "best" at being religious (if that means anything).  They had to choose someone with real clout, someone who could be feared and respected and who could invoke awe in her followers.

Yeah, that's what I mean by too game changing. A male Qunari Divine just makes absolutely no sense. And altho, sure, I could see them selecting a Divine according to who has political clout, I would expect that a minimum requirement is that you're actually Andrastian. It's a political position but still a religious one. So it's not that anything goes and it's just about power, even if it's one of the more powerful positions in Thedas.

Now... they could go there, but that's a pretty big shift in the world. And a shift not all players would choose (probably not even a majority of players). So I just think that would create too widely divergent world states for the next game. They've learned from the OGB debacle.

So, I guess I hadn't fully grasped the magnitude of what's happening in July in Birmingham, but our own Cullenite extraordinaire Rita is organizing her own con, to which Greg Ellis, Jennifer Hale, Steve Blum and others will come. How freakin cool is that?!?!?

Four things I want to say about this:

  1. Squeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I could go.
  2. Wait, Birmingham in Alabama?! Ah man, I thought for a second this would be in the UK :( . I wish I weren't so broke but Alabama is a bit too far away.
  3. Alabama in summer must be freaking hot deviltongue.gif.
  4. But if anyone from this thread is going, you must take pictures and give us a full report :).
