See, the problem with that letter is that there's no intentional spelling mistakes. Letters from generous Starkhaven princes need to have speling mistakes to weed out the more intelligent and leave the most vulnerable. True story. God, why am I not a criminal mastermind yet?

What I find most amusing about the letter is imagining Sebastian's reaction when Hawke shows it to him.

I made a warrior named Cullen S Rutherford in Guild Wars 2 (yes 'Cullen Rutherford', 'Commander Cullen' and all the other variations I could think of were taken :P )

Actually, industrial implies mass production by unskilled or semi-skilled labor as well as certain systems of finance, taxation, etc. The dwarves don't appear to have thought of mass production yet. Magic kind of throws a monkey wrench into real world comparisons anyway, lol.

Now Tish, how do we know there aren't poor qunari weavers shuffling off to the factory in Par Vollen every day at 5am :)

Ok, something about my 2h warrior was bugging me. I tweaked her again, hopefully for the last time now. I'm trying to make a facial self-insert and so far this is the closest I've gotten:

They probably had vaults and such things like the pyramids in Egypt left their valuables in a small room.

Yes, they did do this, but the pyramids were built as tombs. Thus these small rooms were filled with possessions of the dead pharaoh were what he could carry with him into the after-life.

Banking started way back in our history during Babylonian times. Then later the Romans (and Greeks) adopted this but enchanced to loans etc.

As for what time in Thedas could be, I tend to see it as the golden age of Roman times but with a twist of fantasy.

No doubt these kingdoms in Thedas each have a "Treasurer." They keep either a vault within the walls of the castle or there is some form of bank in each countries main city.

It has always bothered me that there is no "Treasurer" in Skyhold and not allowing you to look at the books to see what Skyhold needs and has plenty of. Would have added more to the game and made the Requisitions be important then just fluff.

What I find most ugly about the Inquisition armor is that stupid "towel wrap" that snakes through the outside. It goes under the arm pits-I doubt this is comfortable.

When it comes to armor, IMO, the developers don't know when to stop adding details.

So...I have a qucik question(s) for you lore masters.  Do darksapwn have the same connection to the fade as humans?  Ie, can they dream, and do their mages manipulate the fade like human mages do?

And also, just for clarification...dwarfs cannot access the fade or dream.  Humans and elves (and, if I am correct, darkspawn) can. Is the correct?

And one more thing...templars block their own connection to the fade.  As per Cole, they "reach for something older, deeper."  Any speculation on what this means ( I figure this is on topic, since Cullen is a templar...and thus you guys would know best)!!!!  I just wondered because Cullen seems to dream alot, and yet as a templar, he actively blocks the fade.  Is this just because he has stopped taking lyrium, and now his unconscious mind accesses the fade again?  But then, it is confusing because mages use lyrium to tap into the fade. So...I just... I am...confused.  Help!  Could someone break it down for me like I am a small child??

Need to know for writing purposes!  Thanks!

Also, R2, I agree with not using the word "hell" in Thedas, as it makes no sense.  Problem is, I think i have done that occasionally without thinking about it!  Blasphemy!  Now doing a search of giant document to delete/replace the word hell.  Bloody hell!! :P

I generally use "Void" instead of "Hell" in my DA fanfics :) And I am partial to Andraste's t*ts :P

As far as Cullen and his dreams are concerned, doesn't he mention at some point that stopping lyrium made his dreams more vivid/frequent? So, I think that Templars do dream, but maybe not quite as much as the average individual - the degree to which they dream perhaps depends on just how lyrium affects their body.

I am not too sure about Dark Spawn. Given that they have magic wielders, they probably do dream - maybe to the same extent that animals can dream. Unless, of course, Dark Spawn magic is completely different from the magic used by non-tainted people.

Aaaaaand, your drawing: I just have to get around to taking some photos for reference, and I'll get going on it :)

This is a bit vague. They do seem firm on the idea that dwarves don't enter the Fade (which makes a dwarf falling out of the Fade more remarkable, but no one says anything, and, I'm told, there's no dwarf-only dialogue during the Fade sequence of Here Lies the Abyss.) But there's a suggestion that dwarves do dream, just not connected to the Fade. That's all very fuzzy and what little we know has been debated on the dwarf thread, lol. There's a feeling that the Stone and lyrium are connected to the reasons, but it's unclear how they're connected and why surface dwarfs continue to dream once their connection to the Stone fades. Dwarves obviously don't have the disadvantages that the Tranquil have.

I have no firm guesses on Darkspawn, but I think we can assume that the song from the Old Gods they hear is their equivalent to dreaming (remember, Wardens begin hearing the Calling in their dreams first.)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I guess that Dagna did dream once if you gave her that "scrap of you" after the Abyss quest (when she asked for it, a war table mission).

What she described seems like a dream to me.

He does say the nightmares are worse without the lyrium so I am guessing he still would have dreamt as a templar.  Do they actually shut themselves off from the fade?

I'm personally not sure. See, dwarves definitely don't visit the Fade when they dream. Not sure if they actually dream like people do in reality though, because they do talk about their dreams along the same context as a human would when talking about ambitions, (I believe Dagna does in Origins). The Wardens obviously dream, (more on this later), and the dwarf Warden (to my knowledge) doesn't have any special dialogue expressing this is their first ever dream so I'm thinking dwarves dream, just not in the same way. And while they can be forced into the Fade both mentally, (DAO), and physically, (DAI), it's their apparent separation from the Fade that means they can't be mages. Things get more complicated when you consider the Qunari claim that qunari don't enter the Fade when they dream eithr, but while this is likely just lies and or wishful thinking considering their fear of it, but again, more on that later.

What's weird to me, is that the darkspawn born of a dwarven broodmother, genlocks, can be magic users. This implies, to me at least, darkspawn mages don't get their power from the Fade. Couple that with darkspawn not being seen naturally, (i.e. not forced), in the Fade unless they're demonic figments like the ones we saw in the Fade section of DAO. I believe they might get their power from the taint as a kind of blood magic. I mean, the taint basically supercharges lyrium, so I suppose it would make sense that it has some magical properties besides all the corruption and stuff.

So maybe this could also be used to explain why qunari also aren't really seen in the Fade either, (I believe there's a codex entry somewhere that mentions this), and the Qunari claim is actuall accurate. Maybe qunari mages get thir power from the remnants of the draconic blood inside them. But this is me going wildly off topic.

I wonder tho, since most mortals who dream really walks the fade, IIRC non mages don't really attract demons but mages do. Are Cullen's nightmare actually a subconscious flashbacks of his bad experience in Kinloch Hold or does he got disturbed by real demons nightly? It's entirely possible that his "mind" got weakened due to his experience & demon tried to break it, knowing this to be able to possess his body or something like that. He's in powerful position. Envy demon did want to possess Lord Seeker Lucius (which does not have magical power but do have power).

Hmm, I don't remember if I got that conversation with her. I don't have time to track down the details, but they've made it clear at some point that dwarves dream, just not the way humans and elves do, connected to the Fade. And when you think of the result of cutting humans and elves off from the Fade (the Tranquil), obviously the dwarves are nothing like that. Titans have also been referred to in a way that has a few people wondering if dwarven magic might be connected to them and their absence.

There are suggestions that dwarves had magic at some point in the distant past. And you only need to look at Sandal to have a lot of questions about that, lol. Presumably genlocks are cut off from the Stone and the dwarves' lyrium resistance, so all of that may factor into it.

I just went through Dagna's full conversation. Fascinating, but no closer to answers, lol. I took screenshots of the whole conversation (I wonder if or how it differs for a dwarf, but I don't have Reska or Zhenya that far yet), if you want, I'll try to post the text later today. I think it might help (or confuse) Timebean's question, lol.

Lemme tell you, I love inquisition multiplayer, its party banter included. The characters are hilarious and at this point I'm probably just as interested in them as characters, as my party in single-player

A lot of players complain about the repetition in the multiplayer banter, but really, to hear more all you need to do is run w diverse parties. For each of the three lines? are at least 12 unique responses, all of which flesh out the characters and the interrelations of the group. Learning more about a characters past through what they say as opposed to playing through a narrative can be a really great way to tell a story. But to get the full story, the content needs to be brief enough that one person can have a chance of hearing the whole thing.

So, in trying to see how much story is tucked into the lines, like two weeks ago I started looking for a transcription and couldn't fine anything that approached an accurate comprehensive record of the party banter the way one exists for Inquisition single-player's dialogue and banter on the wiki.

So I made my own [link]    :D

A not quite yet complete list of all the online multiplayer dialogue, for all your accurate and complete characterization needs!! & Pls feel free to drop me comments with lines or corrections that are missing

Look at this!

They do talk about Cullen... apparently he seems hard to kill
