Animal can mean all kinds of things...animal magnetism, the beast within, the lion and the dog (ie, Orlais and Ferelden), Cullen's mane, Dalish huntress, are mages really people?, is lyrium alive?

 

I know what I just wrote sounds nutty, but "Animal" is pretty broad if you go with it, so could be a good route to take for a prompt.  Ie, humans are animals too, no?  So just having a human being in the story/drawing etc fits.

 

Just my two cents!

But yeah, maybe it doesn't matter what theme we have if it means more people can feel comfortable about creating something when not adhering to a topic. Well, I don't mind going along with whatever is decided, either way is good

About the theme, another one that can be interesting: "Redemption". But this is quite limited & not general.

Well there are many theme names you could use...

 

Risen

 

Rapture

 

Atonement

 

Salvation

 

Etc etc.

 

When I write, I generally only use a signal word for a title if the word is powerful enough. If not then I rebuff it with another word...maybe three. I tend not to go over the three limit unless its absolutely necessary.

 

So using the above words...

 

Lets see...

 

Atonement sounds good, but it does not give that impact.

 

Simple words, like Dark, etc, are too predictable.

 

So I would go with something like...

 

 

Seizing Atonement.

 

Words fit with Cullen (at least in my mind)

 

And...now I feel the need to write out my character's bio more instead of working. Thanks Ceru.

Have you ever noticed that when you first meet Cullen, as well as when you form the Inquisiton and travel to Skyhold, your Inquisitor and him both exchange many interesting glances? Now we discovered a human female is the canon for DAI. I swear that makes Cullen the canon romance for her based on those looks that seem out of place on other races and males. That's just my opinion though.

Also when you get the first cut scene with Josie (in Skyhold), Cullen and Lilly come in.

 

As Cullen is walking away he looks back at your Inquisitor. Not sure if his eyes are focused on her face or her ass....maybe both?

This! Synonyms are my bane. I spent 15 minutes last night trying to come up with one word in a rewrite (disparage) because the other words that kept occurring to me carried the wrong baggage.
 
And yeah! Is that part of the Hawke-Cullen story?

Oh man, yeah, I feel ya. thesaurus.com is my friend when I just can't think of the word I want. An hour later...

And, yes, it is. Chapter 13 is ready for editing. woooooooo0000t! 
 

Hmmm... I don't really have anything good, it's hard to beat "Memory" as theme. That one's a real killer. What's in your mind? Please say it anyway
 
Maybe something general like "Thank You", "Good Night", "Strong Bond" or something like that. I'd like to suggest maybe "Lion" or things like that but I don't think everyone would like the lion parallel...
 
EDIT: or maybe you're right R2s, maybe we just let it out roll like that. The 5K was great with a theme but some folks might have problems following that.

The theme is always only for inspiration for those who want it. In the past we've done: first kiss, dark and stormy night, cheesy romance covers/fics, Cullen's origin story, Cullen's odd jobs after 9:37, Cullen's interactions and banter with other characters. It doesn't have to be a word or a deep concept. It also doesn't have to be anything at all. But, it's nice when it's something that arises organically from the thread and what folks have been talking about/thinking about. Regardless, most folks don't follow it anyway, since it's just there as a helper. Only rule is it has to be Culleny.

As far as ideas so far, all I'll say is I categorically vote against animal theme. :shudder: It's probably my hate of the lion helmet talking. But. I hate the lion theme. A lot. Sorry. Just being honest.

After how he acted with my Amell, it's amazing how 10 years can make that guy grow balls! Lol I was shocked when he first did that after it seemed like he was too angry to even try!

So, this is a little OT, but I need some advice on beta-ing. 

 

I found this really cute fanfic on FF.net, and saw that the author was looking for a beta. Her writing was not bad, only the grammar was a little off. Thinking that I would probably not have to spend too much time helping out, I volunteered as a beta. And now she is in the middle of a complete overhaul of her initial fanfic. She sent me the first chapter (10k words), and editing has been very slow so far. The quality of the writing appears to be below what I have initially seen, so I needed to do very heavy editing. I do not kid you. I pretty much had to rewrite every sentence. At this rate, it is going to take me forever to get back to her... AND... I am probably putting in almost as much effort into this as she is - which I wouldn't mind if I would actually have the time for such an effort. The other problem is that I feel like this is becoming my fanfic rather than another's...

 

I have emailed her a part of my edits. I made the page bleed, so I felt really bad, but she said that was precisely what she was looking for. 

 

What should I do? Plough through, or make my edits more superficial?

OMG I know this, I beta'd my BFF's thesis, it's horror...

 

IMO you can simply read & tell her to "work on the grammar"? Explain to her that there's too much & you can't do all by yourself, considering that it's VERY long?
