Totally random remark, but isn't he a cutie
? Ahem...
EDIT: Top of page with this? Really?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hehe, I'm just afraid that my interpretation of the piece is not the same with the artists', that I captured the wrong messages. It might be unpleasant for an artist to see their pieces depicted wrongly... And some artists might not want their pieces being compared to another artists' publicly... Idk about the two artists I mentionned, (the other piece being the subject of our PM discussion once), whether it's OK to "analyze" someone's work like that or not. I know that many writers don't like it, not sure about artworks...
Personally I always do those kind of analyze of the works of my RL friends (writing, artwork) & they always do the same with mine. But that's a circle of close friends & we trust each other for years already. Not sure whether these kind of things can be said here so if it can't please tell me & I'll stop.
I think it's important to respect the artist's work but as far as interpretations go, the artist will have to live with wrong interpretations. The moment you make something available to the public, it is beyond your control what folks think about it. An artwork is a statement and like any other statement it can be interpreted in various ways. As long as the recipient is persuasive and can explain her/his point of view it is okay to have a different opinion than the artist herself/himself. One needs to have good arguments, of course. So, personally I believe that it's okay to analyze someone's work. Look at art history, for example. Paintings get analyzed all the time.

Still, there's a huge gap between analyzing dead Old Masters' works (visual art, litterature, photography, music, etc) compared to doing the same thing to fanarts (except if the artist/writer ask for critique him/herself). Well, I'm not very sure about the second. So if every it was Not OK what I did don't hesitate to tell me & I'll put the post down & stop doing that.
Aaaaand yeah, Noodle Doodle Limerick...

I was just talking with a friend and do we know 100% that Cullen isn’t of noble birth? We were talking about what the orlesian nobles in the great hall say when your quizzie is romancing him. Now what they say makes sense if your quizzie is a Trevelyan, not so much if they’re a Lavellan. Unless of course Cullen is nobility.
I know he says that he holds no land or titles outside the inquisition but in theory he could come from a noble family but had to give up all claims and titles when he joined the templar order. Mages have to give it all up for obvious reasons and given that in some war table missions in DAI, sending a noble off to become a chantry sister/brother seemingly ends any political disputes tied to them, which makes me think that you give up everything when you swear yourself to the chantry.
This part confused me as well thus I contacted Bri and she cleared this up. Cullen is NOT nobility.
The two Orelisian nobles who speak of your romance with Cullen are not talking in terms of titles, they are speaking of the definition of the word noble. Which coincides with the ranks within The Inquisition.

Guess that anyone who becomes a Quizzy, whether it's Trev, Lav, Addie, or Caddie is considered the same level compared to nobility now...

I've had to get over the same thing with my photography. A lot of my work (particularly my cemetery and infrared stuff) is aimed to tell a story, so I can't control how someone else sees it. If anything, I appreciate the alternate interpretations.
It's another thing entirely to critique someone's medium/abilities/whathaveyou unless that is specifically asked for.
In summary, I think that's the difference between "interpretations" and "critiques." They are two completely different things.

Agreed. Upon an analysis you're breaking down the subject matter and symbolism etc. I.e. the narrative of the piece, what story is it telling. A critique is specifically calling out what's "wrong" with a work in a constructive manner. Like if somethings wrong with anatomy or lighting issues or what have you. Even talking about what does or doesn't work/translate. At least with visual artwork. I mean nobody can stop comments or opinions on stuff like that, that's just freedom of expression lol. Now tearing apart someone's work, especially when critiques haven't been called for, that's just rude.

That's my Cousland Warden, she just ended up looking a lot like Anora. >< But she was the first character I played through Origins with so I didn't know it used the same hairdo as Anora (and as Eleanor Cousland for that matter.)
