I've got a lore question for you guys. So we know what happened with Cullen when he was tortured by the desire demon more or less. But he wasn't possessed right. Is there any indication as to what happens to non mages when they're possessed? I tried looking it up but it only said that they look for multiple suicides with like despair demons to know if theres possession involved. It also basically said it isn't the person's fault so it can happen to anyone I guess. So is it like the stereotypical possession that we normally think of? Like influence or is it pure mind control. And do we know if there's any chance of a cure? I know with mages there's the litany or something. I'm asking for a potential story I may or may not write....

When non mages are possessed, they have the capacity to do supernatural things, with included heightened healing, unnatural strength, etc. But I would argue that such possessed creatures might not necessarily perform "magic" as we know it. At least, not to the extent that a possessed magic would exhibit.  However, if a non mage were possessed by a creature of exceptional strength, I'd say that all bets are off.

As to despair demons, I'd argue that they weren't so much possessing people as they were feeding from the despair and pain that people were feeling.

Possession itself is a bit complicated. It can be either spiritual, corporal, or some mixture of both. But for sure, it's a total domination of the mind and spirit for the possessed individual. The only known cure is either blood magic, or use buckets of lyrium to have a mage enter the Fade and try to kick out the demon or entity. However, some creatures, like Faith and Justice, may be too far intertwined with their respective hosts to be kicked out, short of death.

It's not yet available on pc. It's on xbox 1, ps4 and xbox 360 for now.

edit: Billy Buskell said that this Friday's stream will be special, with Liz Lehtonen and Chris Pickford, so they might say something about dlc.

Holy hell!!!!!

AVVAR, HERE WE COME!!!!

In before we learn that the Avvar religion had their basis in the elven gods lol.

Here is a list of achievements for a unknown dlc.

Firestarter
Destroy all the Winter Shards and light all the fires in the Old Temple.

Legend-Marked
Impress the Avvar of Stone-Bear Hold and gain their friendship.

Historian
Uncover the secrets of a legendary figure.

Winter's End
Dispel a myth of ancient days.

So we are going to see Avvars, a legendary figure (Dread Wolf maybe?) and kill a myth. What do you guys think the dlc will be about?

Holy carp I was right, we are getting DLC info, maybe even the DLC itself, by the end of the month. Yay!

Sounds like it’s going to be interesting, always wanted to know more about the Avvar. Fingers crossed for some more Cullen content even if it is just advisor related stuff :D

Ooo this is so interesting thank you. Is the possessing spirit or demon usually in the fade and not in the physical world? Like say hypothetically - when the inquisitor goes into the fade is it theoretically possible that something could leave 'with/in' her and without anyone knowing? Like say if it was a despair demon and it just started feeding off of her like a parasyte?? ^^

It does seem we're heading in the direction of every modern religion in Thedas being based on the elven pantheon, except the Qun of course. If the Avvar gods are based on the elven gods then would that mean Mythal/Flemeth is the lady of the skies because of her affinity to dragons or could it be Andruil who I think is represented by owls.

Yes.

Also, am I the only person who squeeeed with joy when I reached this part of the battle, only to find Cullen there fighting like a boss?

Even when I've played alt toons and romanced someone else entirely, I'm ready to dump the LI in the river at this point and run off with Cullen instead.

Both are possible. Connor's was in the Fade, Anders and Wynne were in the physical world.

And yes, that could happen to the Inquisitor, theoretically.

As far as I know, the dwarves' religion isn't directly connected either (everyone forgets the dwarves, sigh, you'd think we were hard to miss since shy and reserved aren't words usually associated with most dwarves, ;-) )

Not necessarily, remember in DAO we found elven ruins underground. Companions even commented on it saying that it was odd and wondering if at one point the elves lived underground like the dwarves and some of the tech they use seems very similar to elven technology/magic, so there could be a connection but right now there isn’t much evidence to go on.

I'm still holding out hope for  a Orzammar/Kal Sharok DLC. The dwarves need a bit of love in the lore department, all we really know is they don't dream for some reason, they have total control over the lyrium trade, they worship their ancestors and the 'stone', whatever that means, and they have a really outdated caste system.

Hi everyone!

Long time lurker here.

A few days ago I decided to try my hand at writing a (smutty) fic. I really enjoyed it a lot. I'm satisfied with how the first chapter turned out and figured it belonged here.

Feel free to leave a helpful comment or tips.

Enjoy. >:D

There's  a whole quest on this in DA2 (I can't remember if you played it already or not), that involved Cullen and Keran, where mages were putting demons into templars. So you could read up on that (Enemies Among Us).

I thought this was explained as the survivors of Arlathan sought sanctuary from the dwarves at some point, not that they're related by blood/pantheon/whatever.
