I'd give it a solid 7/10

 

 

Pros:

-interesting lore stuff and story

-new crafting tiers and materials

-gorgeous area

-second to last boss fight was pretty cool and the location was cool

-a lot of implications regarding events of the past, especially surrounding the original Inquisition

 

Cons

-little new character interactions at all

-very few cutscenes

-combat was obscenely hard for me (I was Level 26 when it finished, and I was having a hell of a lot of difficulty.

-last boss fight was...ok

jogged my memory of only a few of the writers working on any given DLC in the past;

maybe if she's working on a different DLC we have a better chance of seeing more Cullen in that one.

 

She is in the credits, FWIW. It was interesting seeing all the staff changes actually, as it lists PWeekes as lead writer already, and Allan as Community Manager and such. I feel like such a nerd for knowing so many of the names in the credits. LOL

ah, crap. This is a theme I've been hearing. So much for my sucky only-level 20  'I hurried through my playthrough for the Solas content' Lavellan.

I was also playing on hard.

 

Just stick it on Casual and you'll be mowing down enemies.

Also, just some combat tips, if you all are interested:

 

Spoiler

Bring Fire and Electricity elemental weapons, if you can. Cause you fight a lot of enemies that use ice.

 

When fighting rifts, use Dispel on the spawn points as much as you can. One time, I screwed up, then fought a total of 5 Level 25 Despair demons at one. And on another time, I fought 5 Fear Demons at once as well.

 

Ergo, you need to bring your A game and play smart, even if you bump it down to casual. I wiped more in this DLC than I did in the real game.

I KNOW! I was weak and spoiled the DLC for myself...it was splendid. 

 

I love Bioware for doing that. You guys will know what Elu and I are talking about...in the future.

Not gonna lie, I beat the last two bosses on casual, cause they were that irritating and hard, and I was just wanted to finish them off lol.

Yeah I'm slowly going insane playing this DLC on Nightmare, the enemies just strip down your barriers and guard so quickly that there's not much you can do to keep alive. Literally 2 -3 hits and you're dead. A few pointers though, 1. for the love of all that is holy bring a mage that's purely on rez duty and keep them close to your quzzie once they get a certain upgrade 2. Bring Varric, his focus ability + leaping shot just destroys enemies if you've got Solas/Rift mage quizzie using Pull of the abyss to keep them in place. 3. Bring fire, lots of fire, maybe some bees as well.

Yeah, I had fully maxxed Knight Enchanter Inquisitor, and my entire team was annihilated in seconds, cause they cut through every single barrier I put up.

 

And even Cassandra lost all her guard and died in two shots from one of the enemies.

 

 

Hmm. Sounds like the developers need to do some balance on the enemies. If Cassandra (at high level) is dying to normal mobs, that is a clear indicator the enemies are over-powered. 

 

Sounds like the developers may have cranked their damage up to "Raid Mode."

There is no shame in playing on casual! I will never claim the hard and nightmare achievements... and Cullen still loves me even so.
