I completely backed up my patch 5 version of the game. All 25+GB, saves, and settings. I'll use that for screenshots and other playthroughs that aren't ready for the DLC.

 

How long does it take to swap between the two? Would you be able to share your process with that? I would think Windows would get confused?

I've been wondering what that silver fabric was. Happened to loot some rogue armor with that fabric. I was immediately like, that's gorgeous I need it now. I googled and it only said it could be dropped by revenants in EP. Is there any other way to get some?

I get it from Tevinter spellbinders in the Hissing Wastes, the ones who open a book when they start casting and place glyphs on the ground.

Ok, bear with me, it's been forever since I've posted to or followed a message board so if I do something idiotic, that would be why, LOL! 

 

I have been reading this thread on my phone for a while but . . . holy mother of God!  I'm on p. 133 on my phone and decided to check the forums on here and it started at the end.  I had NO idea there would be 5,190 pages!!!  Of course, it's Cullen so it all makes sense actually.  I'm a firm believer that if someone doesn't love dogs or Cullen Rutherford, there is something seriously wrong with them.  Sorry, both are SO lovable and sweet!  (ok not all dogs, but Cullen is pretty much perfect!    My God they did an amazing job with him--sexy voice, sweet personality, amazing romance, sexy everything else, LOL!)

 

I don't know that I will be able to read all 5,190 pages, honestly--OMG.  I may have to cut my losses and start reading from page 5,000 or something.

 

Anyway, I'm Stephanie and it's nice to meet you all!  I have enjoyed reading the posts and was surprised by how many people speculating before the game came out got the details right.

Cullen is like candy and sex...addictive as hell.

 

But truthfully I never cared for Cullen in the previous two games. Then when DAI came out Cullen was the only romance option that interested me (and still is the only one). After a while my reaction was, "Sweet Maker! I love this guy! He is the shiz!" Thus I am now a Cullen fan and cannot romance anyone else nor play any other character to romance Cullen with. When the game is over I re-make my main character and play it again - tis fun.

I've only been to the Hissing Wastes to get the vendor armor schematic, so I know I didn't get it from enemies there. I'm pretty sure the human enemies in Emprise du Lion drop it. I've spent a lot of time there lately.

Do you ever do the collect fabric mission at the war table? Just a thought, but I think I've managed to snag some of it if I sic Josephine on that one. 

 

Not to say that you don't get it in Emprise, I've just never found it there myself so I'm wondering if maybe part of your stock came from the war table.

There's a distinct entonation change when he says "mouth" in that line.

It's something I did a lot when modding ME3, for whenever things went wrong. I kept a base-game-with-patches backup, backup with DLC, and backup with DLC and mods. It's just a lot of swapping or renaming of folders.

Main Install: K:\Electronic Arts\Dragon Age Inquisition

Patch 5 Game Backup: K:\!BACKUPS\!PROGRAMS\BIOWARE\Dragon Age Inquisition\!BACKUPS\2015-03-24\!BACKUP - Patch 5\Dragon Age Inquisition

Patch 6 Game Backup: K:\!BACKUPS\!PROGRAMS\BIOWARE\Dragon Age Inquisition\!BACKUPS\2015-03-24\!BACKUP - Patch 6\Dragon Age Inquisition

Saves: K:\!BACKUPS\!PROGRAMS\BIOWARE\Dragon Age Inquisition\!BACKUPS\2015-03-24\Save

Rename the Main Install Dragon Age Inquisition folder to Dragon Age Inquisition - Patch 6. Copy the Patch 5 Game Backup Dragon Age Inquisition folder to K:\Electronic Arts\. Run game. If I need to switch back to Patch 6, rename the Patch 5 Game Backup Dragon Age Inquisition folder from K:\Electronic Arts\ to Dragon Age Inquisition - Patch 5, and then rename Dragon Age Inquisition - Patch 6 to Dragon Age Inquisition. Probably a good idea to keep Origin closed when renaming/switching, to avoid any issues.

 

Just tried it to make sure it works, and it seems to so far. I do get prompted to activate the game when clicking play after switching back to Patch 5, but not when switching back to Patch 6. I did notice that any saves made with Patch 6 installed could not be opened with Patch 5 installed, even though the versions in the package.mft files matched, so keep that in mind.

Thanks! I can hold off for a good while still before I need to play the DLC, but if mods are not an option by the time I get to that point I will try your method. I think I'll have to draw a diagram first.

All I got in Emprise was Dales Loden Wool, sigh. I've pretty much cleared Emerald Graves on my Dalish warrior, and only really have the keep left in Emprise, not a single piece of the royal sea silk (I just looked). I'm actually having a problem on my mage getting enough materials to make higher level armors because I tend to get tons of one or two kinds of cloth and almost none of some others. Since I have two mages in both my mage's party and my rogue's party, it's particularly a problem. If it weren't for the snofleurs, my rogue would have problems too. BTW, I highly recommend Blackwall, Dorian, and Viv in the same party if you like companions who snipe at each other. Ouch!

You have to claim that Keep in Emprise, the one where you fight Imshael? Once you beat him and claim it, you can search for leather and cloth as well.

So in essence, don't open any Rhiannon saves on Patch 6 if I want to be able to open them on Patch 5 again. I would have thought Windows would get all confuzzled having a game installed twice. I'll have to give it a shot! Rhiannon is still only level 17 so I have a bit to go!
