Hope everyone is well! I also notice my lil game icons are actually showing up under my name now. I am very pleased, and feeling very colorful.

 

Anyhoo, I finally get to post my Red Lyrium Cully drawn for Rita's project now. yay

 

 

Even though I don't like the idea of Cully suffering any more than he already has, I had a lot of fun with this nonetheless. I animated it for Tumblr so I could try to make it look like the lyrium was pulsing with the beat of his heart, and I tried to make his chest look sort of glassy. Eventually I'll be more experienced with painting textures. Hopefully.

I know it's rather dark, LOL - I've been getting similar reactions on Tumblr The theme I was assigned was "Corruption", so I went along with it and decided to give it a sci-fi twist, me being a sci-fi geek and all. I don't think the project is confidential any longer, and Rita gave me permission to post it today, but I'll message you what it was about just in case.

As I said lady, this is simply amazing. Totally jaw-dropping! There aren't enough likes for this!!!

 

I don't like the idea of him suffering either, but I still love the concept. I love dark and angsty!!! I can only imagine the amount of flack you're getting on Tumblr. I hope you have Anon turned off! I got tons of crap yesterday over Rhiannon.

ARE YOU KIDDING?! The Deep Roads was the best map of DAO! I loved that epic sense of being underground trying to make your way through age old caverns. I felt like I was in freaking Moria!

There are a lot of really interesting answers there, including some candid acknowledgement of the issues we always talk about in the off balance between storytelling / character interaction / world exploration. This was my favorite answer of the bunch:

 

Stuff I'd like to improve: I'm happy that we found some kind of balance between open-world and story-focused gameplay, but I don't think we hit the right balance, necessarily. Definitely work to do there. I'm happier with the way story integrates into the Hakkon area, though, so that's a start.

Also, now that we've got our feet back under us (never, ever underestimate how painful/time intensive changing your fundamental engine technology can be), I'd like to broaden some of the player roles and abilities again to allow for more hybrids, sure, but more importantly, to allow for more interesting decisions in party composition, character creation and so on.

 

Like that Mike's honest about it, and about how much work and energy learning the new engine took from the team that some things just had to be sacrificed in the end. It bodes well for the next games, even the next ME, that now that they're good with the engine, they can go back and fix the things that didn't turn out so well.

Mmmm, I think we can be hopeful he'll show up in the future, but I'll be surprised if he's a companion. This seems more like a 'we can't talk about unannounced content,' as opposed to any kind of Cullen-specific comment.
